What shape is the head template? Do I begin with paper or foam? Why is 1/2" foam better than 3/4"? How do you build facial features in foam? Are the facial features applied under or over the fleece? What does an un-skinned puppet look like? What can I use as a puppet stand? How do I cover the head with fabric? How do I make a fabric pattern which can be sewn? Can I use spray adhesive to glue the fabric to the head? (I made 3 videos on "Head", because it took me 3 puppets to figure out, it's easier to build the mouth first. This is my first puppet.) Puppeteer Amanda Hart from the South Florida Puppet Guild discusses how to make professional looking, half body, human character, hand and rod, foam puppets. This is a video I wish existed when I started making puppets in 2009.
