The texture difference in the front vs the back, the way your hair immediately tangled right after detangling, the way your hair just sucked up the water and product and tried to act like it was dry the whole time, etc etc Thank you so much for putting this out here, cause I see so many products work well out there, even for type 4 girls, and then I try and it doesn't come out well. FINALLY someone tried this that is exactly the same type as me

I have the exact same hair type as you the front being loose and all. Like exact, so this is what I do to make it act right. While in the shower, detangle while conditioning then two strand twist. Let it sit then untwist as you’re washing it out while running your fingers through it like a comb. Then retwist until it’s completely washed out. Since it dries so fast work in the twisted sections by spritzing, not drenching the hair and apply their gel first, and don’t brush it because that’s working against the curls trying to define themselves. Then apply the cream until you see the curls define. The main key as you’re doing is not to drench the hair in water. I know that’s the first instinct because it gets dry so quick, but it’s ineffective. Just spritz the water lightly, like dampen a little. And if you don’t see the curls defining how you want then do the small twist outs as your applying the cream but don’t try to drench it in water too much doing this either because the product won’t stick if that makes sense. Trust I know we have to wet our hair because it dries so quickly, but the key is just to spritz the ends and roots to just get it a little damp for the product application.
You re telling it like it is, I can relate on all levels. My hair is very short right now. It never grew very long, that is until I went lock heaven. My hair grew so long it actually amazed me. However, it also was locked into a permanent set of countable locks. I kept them for many years. I now have short hair, again, very short hair. If that product can define my current hair without a buildup or excess moisture staying on the hair, or stiff hair, I might try it. I have so many products at home that there isn't any space for more non performing products. Fashion fair, styling gel, the pink one from old, used to define my edges and hair, perfectly, however, the hair was a little stiff but didn't feel to foreign on my head when I touched it lightly. By the way, whatever style you did, had to stay in that style, until you released it and wet styled your hair anew. That was the only drawback. I'm always looking for that special product that would make it look like I just stepped out of a styling salon.💖💖💖💖💖
Wow, I think this is a good guide of how my hair can look or will look in the future when my hair is longer. My hair acts exactly like yours and I just say Type 4 hair as well!
You may have to use curlers in conjunction with the cream, and let that dry thoroughly before removing the curlers. The smaller the curler the tighter the curl, you may need a medium curler to accommodate your length and by using a hair dryer you will guarantee that your hair is dry before you remove the curlers. End papers are used to keep all of the ends smoothed on the roller/curlers. Old school, but it works, middle curlers, rolled to the back, side curlers rolled down to the ears and temples. Perfect.
It's not just you, that product did nothing for my hair. It's better to use the cream and then the gel. Also your hair needs to be soaking wet in order to get the best wash and go. Have you ever tried the curl daze gel? It's really nice on its own or with the leave-in cream that goes with the line. 💫 You definitely need to start with a good leave-in conditioner and then top it with either a botanical gel or a wet line or eco styler.💫

Shea moisture manuka honey, Miche has several types. moisture or protein, with a hot head heat cap before wash and go. The curldaze shampoo and conditioner gave me definition but the shampoo was a little drying however the conditioner brought it back to life. Your hair is not wet enough when applying product and try using more especially the curling styler. see video by Latoya Ebony where Anthony Dickey shows her how to do a wash and go.
If you have type 4 hair you have a pattern…unless you’re a type 1, hydrating your hair should cause it to curl up…maybe your curls are dehydrated…try steaming it’s a game changer for low porosity hair.
This is the issue I’m having as well. There was a CVS further out that claimed via website it was in stock and I should’ve jumped then. Everywhere is sold out.
I should’ve watched this before buying it. I bought it for the wash & go … Now I sorta want to send it back without even trying it … I want a wash & go not a wash & no 😩😫

The ONLY thing I've found that makes it look decent is not even for styling but a deep conditioner w/rice protein & babassu oil that unfortunately u wash out. Wish there was a leave-in and shampoo with that stuff. My son's hair is tighter on top & back, but the front is type b.

That’s a great question. I’m enjoying reading up on it. The excessive water use and unnatural stretching symptoms don’t really seem to fit the current qualities of my hair but I’ll definitely keep looking into it!
Brushing your hair is usually not helpful for a wash and go. It separates your strands, so there's less clumping. Try using your fingers only all the way thru the process. It makes a difference.

That dual side detangling comb is so nice. I can detangle with one side and then get the shed hair out with the other!

I used to have rollers and I got rid of them since I wasn’t using them..totally should’ve held on to them!

It works for me I think I have 4a/b mixture my hair is to my neck so not long and my hair was just damp it worked well for me

Could it be possible that you have hygral fatigue. May be the reason you aren't getting any definition band your hair is really tangled.

Try applying cream then the gel to damp nearly dry hair. Use more product on each section
