The way he talks about the Central Park Five is compassionate and shows the sorrow he feels at this travesty. And way he talks about women with respect and admiration that is refreshing to hear in a media interview and very Keanu Reeves
love and appreciate that he continues to refer to them as "kids" and "children" at the time they were accused of this. Too often, black children are seen as adults and less than human.
Johanne E. Sooo true but do you know what he just made me realize ( even though we know the answer) but it could have been 30 white kids doing the same thing, I wonder if they would have gotten the same treatment if just 1 person would have thought they saw white kids
You said it better than me Joshua really gets it and I do like the guy who asked The Right questions to him what was the effect on you looking inside on how they were portrayed as kids
I haven’t watched the entire series yet. It’s very difficult (emotionally) especially with so many recent, senseless killings of AA young boys/men. My heart can only take so much. 😔
Just wanna say - I grew up watching this man in kid films like Andre, and later in Cruel Intentions and more. To hear him speak so openly and honestly about such poignant, difficult, and painful issues....my heart. Thank you, IMDB and Joshua, for adding so much to this social conversation!
Brandon Simpson no the hell he’s not. He will crawl back over the fence to his world with all the trappings and forget all about the injustice in this film that continues to this day. They ALL know about it. White Supremacy would not live if white people like him didn’t protect them by enjoying the fruits from it. Wake the hell up!! True Ally my ass!
This interview has me in my feelings all over again 😢😢 He was saying some real stuff that needed to be heard !! I pray this film can open a lot of close minded people eyes and change their perspective towards black and brown people. It’s so sad that nothing has really changed. I am now praying for those that have been wrongfully convicted.
You can tell his life has ultimately been changed as a result of being part of this series. He no longer wants raisins in his potato salad. Josh out here shopping for more than salt n pepper to season his food with now. Josh got N.W.A. on repeat riding through Kansas. You can see he wanted to say F the Police but kept it professional. Josh your invited to the cookout and Thanksgiving bro.

This is probably one of my favorite interview about this show. The BUILD Series interview with the young actors are also good. Joshua Jackson is a great interviewee, and it's apparent he knows what his talking about quite well.
Thy only reason they were exonerated was because thy actual murderer had more of a guilty conscious then the prosecutor and our president who seemed to take out a whole page advocating for the death penalty with 0 evidence...

Great interview, those 40 minutes felt more like 5 and you never feel like moving on. Not for a single second. If Joshua has anything to say about anything, you definitely want to hear it. Not a lot of people have that ability to captivate an audience for so long, I guess it's a charisma thing, but what I love most about him is that he is really smart, and he is passionate and compassionate. I think I could listen to Joshua talk forever and I would still not get enough. He is unfairly underrated, at least here in Europe, where he's been pretty much forgotten after Dawson's Creek. It's a shame, and definitely our loss.
I'm so glad the interviewer mentions that there is no happy ending. They lost their most formative years and some (if not all) were brutalized while incarcerated. The money they received is a drop compared to what was done to them.
Chi Eg what’s worst is it took 12 years to get the money and after court, lawyer fees, they didn’t get more than maybe 1 million each. 🤔😢 they lost the most important thing which is their time and their innocence. And they are so strong that when you see “when they see us now.” You’ll see the way they carry themselves they do not act like victims which they were... they are strong, bold, beautiful and so full of life. ❤️ I would give them a pass if they wanted revenge and blood on all those who put them away knowing there was no evidence. But they are using their terrible experience to bring expose and even help those who are in the same boat...they should be called the magnificent 5. ❤️
Joshua Jackson ...this man is fascinating ..i could listen his interview all through out he's intelligent ..nice show and joshua talks deeply ...i really admired him more ..
Awwww he’s been in Jamaica for the last 10 days .. cool ..... he’s in a relationship ( maybe good friends ) with a beautiful black women and she’s from Jamaica. Her name is Jodi Turner-Smith. She’s 31 years old and she has no children. I can see why they hit it off ...... plus recently he ended a long ass relationship ( 10years ) so hopefully they can grow on each other and don’t have to worry about kids. He seems to be living his best life and I’m glad he’s enjoying himself ...... this world is too evil to have kids. Wish him the best.
I don’t have enough strength to watch this movie. This story is just so horrible 😱 Joshua is very articulate it’s a pleasure to listen to what he has to say.

One of the most poignant remarks of this whole interview and one of the things that stuck with me the most was right at the beginning when it’s said even with the happiest of endings it’s not really a happy ending. And god I couldn’t feel anything but pain and truth in that. Because it is true. Because no matter how it finished it’s not truly happy. Yes most of these men have found love and had families. They have all stayed close. But what they lost can never ever be gotten back. While most kids were out being dumb and making silly choices, or having their first dates or first kisses, going to school activities, or something as simple as staying in their own home those children were sitting in a jail cell meant for adults. I remember arguing with someone once on a comment to another video because they said why are they still mad they got a hefty payout. And I just remember being so angry because money can’t bring back the years they lost. Money can’t give those children or their families back their piece of mind. Money can’t change them being labeled as sexual predators . Money can’t change that even though they are exonerated people will still look at them like they are guilty. My heart weeps for those men. For all they lost. For all they suffered. For everything they could of and should of been. And my heart hurt for them because even though they are innocent and proven innocent they will never be truly free. But I am damn proud of them for not letting this stop them from living the lives they have now.

love and appreciate that he continues to refer to them as "kids" and "children" at the time they were accused of this. Too often, black children are seen as adults and less than human.

That meant a lot to me too. If you can do this to a child, what chance does an adult stand?

It's an actual concept. The adultification of black boys and girls. I did a whole speech/report on it.
@Johanne E That is part of the dehumanisation process. When you don't see us as human or children it makes us easier to hate/punish/kill.
