- The latest Behind The Bricks featuring the legendary Paul Page is now available!
Paul chatted with Doug Boles about his love of #IMS and how excited he is for the 105th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Paul Page and Bob Jenkins are the voices of my childhood when it comes to motorsports.
Paul is a legend and will always be the voice of IndyCar for me.
Love Paul Page, glad to see he's doing well
listening to Paul Page talk it's like the 90s all over again!
I grew up with Paul Page. The main memory that impacted me the most is the simplest thing. When he signed off or into a commercial he would almost always say; “stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing.” It sent chills down my spine every time. Nobody was like Paul. His stories and coverage brought the 500 to life for me. Thank you, Paul!
Paul Page is the greatest! I remember being a little kid playing with my race cars on my bedroom floor doing my best impressions of Paul Page. Doing my little intro and calling the race. I don't think I have ever told anyone this story before. Loved the interview and love beond the bricks!
What a wonderful interview!
Paul Page's booming iconic voice is one of the many reasons behind my lifelong love of this great sport.
Coverage of the 2022 Indy 500 begins in 9 hours and I'm counting the minutes...
I met Paul Page at a NHRA event in Phoenix Az ....he was nicest person and spent much time talking about Indy and his change to NHRA ...really great guy
An audio book read by Paul would be fantastic.
Paul is a legend.
Good job Paul. Glad you shared your Indy passion.
I loved Sid Collins on radio and Paul Page on TV. I wish Paul had shown up EARLIER than he did, and stayed LONGER. Nobody conveyed the love of racing the way Paul did.
I miss Paul Page's call of the 500. "And they're racing at Indianapolis!"
That was actually Jim McKay's call at the start of the Indianapolis 500 when he called the race for ABC Sports. I believe he first used that line in 1974 and used it every year he called the race from then through 1985.
I thought that Paul said There FLYING in Indianapolis!
@@cjs83172 His last year with IMS Radio was 1987!
@@michaelhogg324 Didn't they bring Page back a few years ago to be a part of their broadcasts for a couple of years? I thought they had. His first stint with IMS Radio did indeed end in 1987, after which ABC brought him in to be their play-by-play man for all of their racing coverage, which included IROC and the few NASCAR races ABC did through 1992 (he was a part of their NASCAR coverage through 1996).
@@cjs83172 Yes they did
As for Me, the Golden Age of the 500 was the 60's, 70's, 80's and part of the '90s! The Drivers we had back then and the whole month of May and every weekend in Indy, it was the 500! We had the Snake Pit and we would go every weekend to the track, that was the Indy 500! Now it's Big Shot Companies and money just another race on a weekend! We had Sid C, Paul P, Pat V, and Donald D that was the 500!
Used to always take a week or two off in May just to hang out at the track watching them scuff in tires and work up speed.
You would get a real feel and bond with what was going on and actually feel like you were a part of it all.
None of the other tracks or venues gave you a month to enjoy and watch the build up to the big show.
Miss those days.
I gotta hear that Bobby Unser untold story one day ...
🏁🏁🏁 Really enjoyed! 🏁🏁🏁
The booth story is great. I remember that booth, right next to the old USAC Race Control booth. It was a good background, so I can't blame the TV director
Great Bobby Unser impersonation
Funniest thing is that Google put a 'translate to English' option on your post about an Uncle Bobby impression...
Limited exposure to his work, but he made *Huge* impact on me.
“500 miles on a Sunday afternoon in Indiana”
Maybe don’t say Indy 500 customer lol I think fan sounds better
worst announcer ever
What?!
Go away.
