CRAZY RESULTS! I Try Freeze Drying 9 Different Candies First Time
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 кві 2023
- Freeze Dry candy gummies for the first time. In this video, I try to freeze dry my own candies and gummy. Freeze drying is a process that removes moisture from foods, such as astronaut food, to make it preserve for longer time. This is a first time trial of me using my machine. I hope to make more experiments to get similar results as @TheKingofRandom freeze dry videos. Which candies should I try next?

I have had the freeze dried candy. You definitely need to dry yours longer. Skittles are actually really goody when they are completely freeze dried.
Yes!!! Freeze dried Skittles are the bomb!! You can tell when they're ready when they're completely puffed up and the white part is really white. The Skittles are my favorite freeze dried candy!
Came here to say this.
They kinda dissolve really easily, very satisfying to me lol
They r the bomb the skittles not any other things u said
I assumed they'd get really hard and break your teeth. I stand corrected.
Try the same candies again but leave them in for 24 hours. You got what would be considered half dried candy. They started the freeze drying process and never had a chance to finish. They will be amazing with just a bit more time!
Yes i think and hope she tryes it again
❤
It goes a little faster if you freeze the candy in a regular freezer before putting it in the freeze dryer!
I would love for you to do a whole series on this. Just freeze drying a bunch of different candies. I mean you already spent the money on machine might as well use it 🥰
This
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
You should do your best to seal any freeze dried foods in an airtight container immediately after freeze-drying and don't open it until you intend to consume. They will start absorbing ambient moisture in the air around you because they are SO dry. 💜
Jackie, I'm so happy that you're going back to this type of content! I really missed your craft and food related videos
agree! i was so tired of her mini unboxings
I think you might have messed something up because the texture is supposed to be completely different, not just crispy on the outside. The Skittles specifically should basically dissolve in your mouth and not taste anything like normal skittles. Can’t wait to see your next attempt! ❤️
The gummies did not inflate like expected because of the Brand difference as stated, Haribo brand gummies change dramatically in the freeze dryer and Skittles brand skittles also act as expected.
Agreed. Esp having tried the skittles myself. They didnt even go back to chewy when i ate them. Normal skittles im not a fan of, freeze dried ill eat happily.
@@novademon6487 It might have been the brand but based on the fact the Skittles were chewy I don’t think so. To me it seemed like Jackie didn’t leave them in long enough, she put to many in, or something was up with the machine itself.
@@RussGussDoodles I've seen other put in more candy on a tray than Jackie and and they turned out better than what she had.
You should try it
I love when Jackie tries different stuff😊

Tysm for all of these likes
Candy is fun to freeze dry, but I also love freeze dried fruits! Bananas and strawberries are my favorite. I would say definitely dry them longer and, as soon as you can, put them in a sealed container because otherwise they start absorbing the moisture in the air and returning to their original form.
I love freeze dried grapes!
@@rachelgeinert4041 I normally just freeze grapes😂😂😂😂 I can only imagine how yummy freeze dried grapes would be!!!!
Freeze dried beets are pretty great too!
Freeze dried fruit sounds amazingly delicious.
I do love dried fruits too. Mango is soooo good that way, but then i love anything mango.
I plan on trying freeze dried beets. beets are an essential to my alternative food dont piss off digestion options.
My cousin’s wife runs a freeze drying LLC and my favorite thing she freeze dries is salt water taffies!!!! The texture is SO FASCINATING while you’re eating it🤤🤤🤤
I never had freez dried candy. Is not a thing in Germany, I guess. All we have is some stores sell freez dry mango, pinaple and strawberry in slices and sometimes it is even freez dry straberry or rhaspberry in chocolate coating. But thats it
@@ACEsParkJunheeWreckedMeHard Same here in 🇨🇭 I bought freeze dried fruits but I never saw candys. 😢
I tried some freeze dried taffy last month and it was rad. Crunchy and sticky!
Freeze dried taffy is my addiction. I just can't stop eating it when we get it!
Yes salt water taffy is my favorite freeze dried candy. The texture is completely different from taffy & just disintegrates in your mouth. It's like cotton candy in a way.
Some Japanese snack candies would be cool to do like Hi-Chew, milk candies & Ramune candies!
I’ve had freeze dried Hi-chews! They are INTENSE in flavor. I prefer the normal
Love that you are trying this out and are having fun with the process! The problem with doing chewy candies is the pectin and the sugar content. Citruses have the same problem and do the same bubbling texture. Yes, you will need a longer drying time of at least 12 to 16 hours added to the original dry time. Certain foods will absorb moisture from the air more quickly than others so it is good to put them away in air-tight containers as soon as possible. Have fun with your freeze dryer we love ours for putting away our garden-grown veggies and fruits.
Definitely need to go longer. Skittles are so fun to eat, and they should be about double the size of what you had here (or more).
These look rly cool. My friend has a freeze dryer and I'm like 90% sure the candy needs to be in longer cuz his puffed up alot and was alot more crunchy. Either way, I LOVE that you got this and trying different candies and whatever else in it! Cant wait to see what all yall find!
Thank you (and Pat!) for wearing a mask! My kid said, "She's wearing a mask! She's the only UA-camr that wears a mask!" It really made our day!
As a uk viewer I am always interested in the different snacks available around the world.
Same but I'm sometimes jealous of all the snacks
Yes I am also a Uk viewer 😊
Same
same
I'm uk too and the first thing I do when on holiday is go to a corner shop and check out the exotic sweets allways love them
Or maybe because I'm a kid still😅
Is it just me or whenever I have a bad day, I just come watch nerdecrafter and my day is fixed or get SO excited when you see a new vid, really my fav part of my day
Thank you nerdecrafter for making my day!!
Jackie. I really really wanna say thank you for being a huge mood and mood lifter for me for the past 2 years now. Thank you I love you❤
I’m less than a minute in and I have to pause the video just to say how thrilled I am to tag along with Jackie out & about vlog style! 🙌🙌👍
Hey i have been a fan for a few years now and am beyond grateful to have found you’re page thank you for always making me smile and happy especially when times are rough! I love u so much💜
I'd love to see what jelly belly jelly beans would look like and what the texture would be like when freeze dried.
I love these videos! My favorite candy is caller Nerds Rope and I've never really seen them freeze dried so I'd be interested in you doing that! Maybe that and Twix too.
You need to leave them longer for sure. A local store sells freeze-dried candy and the skittles are big/puffy looking. A friend says they basically crunch and crumble and are not gummy at all.
Next title 'Hubby reacts to all his favourite candy being freeze dried' Would love to see Pat's reaction!
Coool, I love it when Jackie explains what freeze-drying actual is
This is so awesome. I've been seeing so many shops pop up online and I've been wondering how it is. It would be really cool if you did a challenge of Pat against Sika and have them blindfolded while having them guess by the touch to see if they can figure out what candy it originally was and then have them eat it to see if that changes their guess
You definitely didn't dry them long enough. Nothing should have been soft. Hope you enjoy your freeze dryer. It has been a dream of mine to get one. ❤
Omg hi I'm early I love your channel sooo much amd you and moriah are the reason I started my own art channel,I haven't posted much art related stuff yet but I AM in the middle of an art project right now you are one of my fav youtubers along with dollightful amd moriah elizabeth!! And I also loved this video!
Thanks Jackie for this yummy video. Keeping the shaker green👍❤
What a good salt shaker! Definitely not a remote control… 😉
😉
Jackie please please bring back your crazy sister we all know that she would have went nuts with this one. 😅😅😊😊
I work at a country store that sells a ton of candy, and we just got freeze-dried candy in. I'd never heard of it before, but it's selling really well. I admit I'm curious, but I have some major food sensitivities, and I don't dare try any.
Omg I love candy and sweet! Watching you bite those crunchy candy are all I need the most! Now I want every one of it!🥹
Some Canadian chocolate bars would be cool: Aero, Coffee Crisp, Crispy Crunch, & most curious what would happen to a Crunchie, since the toffee is practically a freeze-dried texture already. As for candies, I like wine gums & Turkish Delight.
Nothing happens to honeycomb or chocolate
Edit: I love how it says “Jackie’s toy” 😂
Definitely leave them in longer and don’t keep them out too long because they will regain the moisture if you leave them out for a while.
I love freeze dried candies. There’s a store online that just sells freeze dried candy and it’s so good. I can link the website if anyone is interested. I just don’t want UA-cam to flag me lol.
I highly recommend freeze dried skittles to anyone!! When it’s done right, They are indeed so good.
My favorite candies are Whatchamacallit, Toblerone, Snickers, War Heads, sour lemon drop mint things, and anything watermelon flavored lol
lol I customized the machines Name 😆
@@nerdecrafter I hekin love it! Haha
Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!
@@nerdecrafter , what about adding mochi to your list for the next “Will it freeze dry?” session?!
Ooooh I would love to see more of these freeze drying candy videos!! My favourite candies were/are: fried egg gummies, hamburger gummies, nerds, fun-dip, and ring pops!
Love this video, and can't wait for more. . . How about trying a Nerds Rope or SweetTart Ropes! 😍
Jackie so glad to see your smiling face sending you blessings and hugs and lots of love to you and your family. ❤❤
I order from a local business that makes freeze dried candy, and I prefer their hard candies over gummies. The texture crystallizes and I love the mouth feel. The gummies are super airy, which is nice too. My favorite are jolly ranchers and Werther's hard caramels. I also really like their nerd gummies. I didn't like their taffies (like Starbursts) tho bc they got pretty hard. I think that's why I do *not* like the Skittles bc it's like a weird sandy rock with a detached shell lol.
I love when Jackie does different things like those!!
Jackie it definitely makes a difference if they're laying out.. You need to either try them straight out of the freeze dryer or store them in an airtight container or even better in a vacuum seal container.. They rehydrate using the moisture in the air when left exposed.. and also leave them in for longer..
I've never had freeze dried candy, it sounds so good!
Jackie just being her funny nerdy self, and us as her fans genuinely enjoying watching her just be herself.
PS the candy looks great, would love to try some myself one day:)
Jackie I just have to say thank you for giving me a wonderful Childhood I remember watching your videos after getting out of school and being so excited everytime you would post a new video your Channel has grown so much and you are still just as amazing as when you started your videos have brought me so much joy and I just want to thank you for that
It's fun to see you try new things. I was actually curious to see what was going to happen to all of those candies. Would you try to freeze dry mintchocolate bar sometime? I know it might not technically be a candy, but it's one of my favourites and I'm curious to see what will happen to it.
Would love to see you try more foamy sweets like foam shrimps or foam bananas. Edinburgh Rock or Scottish Tablet would be really interesting to see how they fair when freeze dried as well, very different in texture to both rock candy and fudge xx
Foam shrimps??? That doesn’t sound like a treat to me, lol, it sounds like either a type of packing peanuts or a home-cooked meal that went very wrong.
😆
I’m from the States and I’ve never heard of any of the sweets you mentioned.
I’d be interested in trying them, but I do have to wonder what candy-maker originally thought of making pink candy that’s shaped like _shrimp_ . Lol
@@Annie_Annie__ they’re made to look like shrimp (or prawns) but are strawberry or raspberry flavoured, first made by Bassetts in the 1940s. I don’t know how they came around, I just remember as a kid you were able to get them along with foam bananas in the pick n mix section of Woolworths or smaller sweet shops. Would often be 1p per sweet.
They’re very different in texture compared to other foam sweets you can get, like the foam ones in Rowntrees Randoms are very chewy and squishy. These are firmer and if you squish them they won’t go back to their original shape.
Also Edinburgh Rock and Scottish Tablet you can only get in Scotland, the MIL brings me home some sometimes. Edinburgh Rock is very soft and almost chalky in texture and Tablet is very crumbly and extremely sweet; think of fudge that’s lost a lot of moisture and crumbles when you go to bite it. It’s really good!
I would love to see what these look like when freeze dried for longer.
Also, what happens when you deep fry candy?
I had trouble with the same thing the candies, they were.dragged on the floor because they were so long! I love your work❤
there is only ONE thing missing in this Videi, that is indeed a very lovely person - Sika!
Jackie always here to make our day better ❤❤
I’ve never tried freeze-dried candies before so I wouldn’t know what to expect on flavor, to be honest with you Jackie 😅😅😅
Whenever Jackie laughs I laugh, and I love it! I ❤u Jackie!
Yay! I’ve been so into freeze dry candy!!! We just got a freeze dryer and I’m so exited to expirament with it!
Those cherry gummies look very sus
Just saw that you also said it😳
WAIT, WHERE IS SIKA!?
Oh no is she okay? Are you okay? Are you guys okay? Is Canada okay?
Nothing in the world could keep Sika away from an episode like this, so I am watching this episode closely for the hidden messages telling us Sika was kidnapped or something.
hey this vid is so cool ❤❤❤ keep it up ❤❤❤ you are a inspration ❤❤❤ we love youuuuu 4:39
Ohhh, it could be a really nice series=3 Love a little vlog in the beginning=3Thank you for the video=3
Was refreshing seeing you guys shopping ❤❤❤❤
The reason that they didn't get big is because you didn't heat them up enough
Also a reason some were really hard and partly chewy
I got freeze dried skittles and they wet extremely crunchy, so I'm thinking you need to leave them in longer. Maybe your machine isn't as strong as others. I'd say spend the $10 to $15 just to try it out and see the difference.
Off topic, but I’m so happy you’re masking. My son has PoTS from LC and I don’t want anyone to experience how life changing it can be. TY
❤❤
I love the look of freez dried sweets but I've never ate any I would love to see a full series lol tysm
Thank you for you for being you!!! Its Has been a weekend and a very sad Monday. I love your humor. Today is going to be a Jackie day! Positive thoughts to you and yours! Loves from a sad Kentucky fan of you.
I love shoppin' time with Jackie! ❤
I love love love Freeze-dried snacks!! So fun and interesting! I used to get Astronaut ice-cream as a kid, and it seemed to me to be the height of sophisticated food! 😂😂
Definitely need to freeze dry them longer.
What a fun experiment
JACKY U HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY U HAVE JUST MADE MY MOM AND LEAVING UR STUDIO AND GOING TO THE CANDY STORE IT WAS SO SADISFYING TO HER AND BOUGHT HER JOY AND TO SEE U IN UR CAR! Also LOVE U JACKY UR SO SWEET AND WE LOVE UR VIDS 💗!! From Lexi and Yvette!!
I've had most of those and they did turned out, looking forward to your next batch!
Air heads and nerds clusters are my favorites when dried properly. So cook and crunchy
Jackie in the wild!!!!! (I loved seeing you do vlog style ❤)
Love your videos! They always cheer me up after a long day. The snacks look super nom 🤤
What a fun video!! It remains me of when Jakie dripped things in liquid nitrogen.
I would say my favorite candies are Gummy Lifesaver in the berry flavors and High Chews in Mango. Mamba that's like a Taffy type of candy. The tropical fruit flavors are my personal favorite!
I bought some freeze-dried Starburst bits, and they were so good. Very crunchtastic! I have no idea how long it takes to get all the moisture out of dense candies, but I think you should give it another try!
I LOVE freeze dried milk duds! Last month I bought myself 6 bags of them for my birthday!
Jackie, those citrus fruit candies look so good I’d like to buy them for myself.
I loved to see you out and about! It's fun to watch stores sand stuff.
Also the cherries look like you need to go to the doctor...
Some gummies require pre-heating in the oven to make them softer so that when the machine starts it has more warmth than just the tray warmer in it can provide. Your Skittles definitely should have had a puffy, crunchy texture. I could see from the video that something went wrong there, Skittles are the one thing that works for me guaranteed every time (and that's without using the oven to pre-heat).
I've found that some gummies seem to just not work no matter what. You can google for candy that works well. Jolly Ranchers apparently are fantastic but they're very expensive in my country because they're imported so I haven't tried them.
I've also tried peach rings and OMG DO THEY PUFF UP! They hit the top of the tray stand, so I'd recommend cutting them into quarters and giving them LOTS of space to puff lol.
Appreciate your trying things for us. Will look forward to another video. Try circus peanuts and Tootsie Rolls.
I don't know too much about freeze dry candy but I saw different types of it and I think I would prefer just normal candy, love your vids! Watching from México ❤️
Freeze dry chocolate covered marshmallows, twizzlers, and Werthers maybe? 😃 xoxo Also, 20 hours really isn’t long enough. To get the full, crispy, airiness, I would leave them in for 28-36 hours. That’s how long my sis leaves here in for. They come out so light and delicious!
Love this video, freeze dried milk duds are the bomb.
You should definitely do a whole series of these!!
Definitely give these another go because Freeze Dried Skittles are so good
I love freeze dried candy. I have bought skittles, peach rings, salt water taffy, candy corn. All of them were really good. I think you need to not let them sit out in the open air, it will make them softer for sure. I want more videos like this Jackie. Please :)
Is this the first ever NerdECrafter field trip?? Looks like the initial experimental drying was a disappointment, but clearly, more research (and experimentation) is needed! Since you did like the marshmallow part of the gummy frog, may I suggest trying gummy eggs? They have a much better marshmallow to gummy ratio, especially the large ones, 'though I haven't seen the large ones for a few years now. Happy freeze drying, Jackie!
Freeze dried Skittles
Those are awesome
I love this series
How cool!! I haven’t seen this trend yet. And yes, the minute I saw those deformed “cherries “ I thought someone was pranking the store😆
The added texture sure didn’t help either!
Nerds gummy clusters are really cool freeze dried and for a savory snack I quarter onions, season them and freeze dry them. Like a healthy chip
These looks cool. Some years ago I loved freeze dried strawberry slices, haven't found any of them in a long time. Those were grunchy and good. Could you try Haribo gummy bears? Or some fruits, berries and maybe vegetables? If you find brand After Eight, those are square shaped thin mints chocolate, so good!
These cherries sent my mind into the gutter before the freeze drying. Can't wait to see what they'll look like XD
Blue sharks berries from hasbro and jucifuls are my favorite gummies. Love Your videos Jackie. 😊😊
What the texture and the flavor feels like😂❤
Flavor feels like🎉 we love jackie
Heyy jackie!!
Wondering would you plz try a marshmallow??
Really curious to see how it changes and the texture of the marshmallows.
Love your vids💞
Oooo sour keys, green thumbs, red feet, nerds, candy corn, some kind of squishy caramel/toffee ... the possibilities are endless!!
Licorice got me thinking about Nibs
I wonder if the freeze drying would make popcorn jelly bellies have a popcorn like texture, that would be cool
Are you going to do a part 2 now that you have more information on freeze drying candies? Love your content!
Love the vid ❤ omg I was super excited when I sall the thumbnail I laughed so hard watching you do this video isn't salty its sweet love you and your videos
I love your vids Jackie! Hope u had a good easter!
How about freeze drying Circus Peanuts? The weird orange marshmallow like candy.
The gummy cherries 🍒 had me "clutching pearls" the reference to them looking like peppers 🌶 had me howling!
Thanks for the giggles😂
Ah so satisfying and fun to enjoy😋❄️💙
I love the freeze dried skittles. They are really good. What machine are you using to freeze dry your candies?
Some kiwi faves to try: Sour Feijoas, Sour Peaches, Pineapple Lumps and Tangy Apples 👌
