- *This is an older video that I did not get to publish on time since I moved to Montana, but I finally have the time to work on these again.*
This video continues with the math question of the day series. For each question, pause the video and try to work out the solution yourself before resuming the video.
The daily videos will get progressively more difficult throughout the week.

Multiply both sides by 12.
12/3 + 12a = 60/4.
4 + 12a = 15
12a = 11
A= 11/12
1/3 + a = 5/4 subtract 1/3 from both sides
a = 5/4 - 1/3 get the LCD for the fractions
a = 15/12 - 5/12 do the suntraction
a = 11/12
You need to edit your comment: 15/12 - 5/12 isn't 11/12. Less haste, more speed.
@@1man1guitarletsgo ooops ! You are quite right.
It should be 15/12 - 4/12 = 11/12
I prefer multiplying each side by 3 to get 1+3a=15/4, then subtracting 1 from each side to get 3a=11/4, then dividing by 3 to get a=11/12. It simplifies the process of finding a common denominator to automatically creating that common denominator in the flow of the solution.
I thought this was the obvious solution.
Same denominator and then the answer is straightforward.
.917 repeating of course
.916 repeating!
