Toya, I also have a oven roaster and I usually cook mine on 350 and I also add just a little water under the turkey and let it cook slow and it always come out very tender,I think that your temperature was too high and that’s why it cooked so fast but that is your decisions I’m just giving my opinion and mine usually comes out great. Mines go up to 500 and it’s much deeper than yours but it’s a good thing to have so continue to enjoy it 😇
Oh my! Thanks, but it didn't come with a rack, but you are right. I have seen some with the rack. It wasn't a big deal because once it cools greedy people want pieces immediately so its basically cut up right in the roaster oven- less mess.
OK, I recommend anybody who gets one of these ovens to take it outside and turn it on the first few times half an hour each time and let the smoke burn off because it’s really obnoxious fumes. Especially if you have birds in your house. Secondly the manufacturer directions tell you to turn your oven up to 425 to 450 for just a half an hour and then turn it down to 325 for the rest of the cook. Otherwise you will burn your legs on your turkey. And dry it out. I don’t know why you would cook it on such a high temperature. It looks delicious and I’m sure it is. But I don’t know why you would have decided to go on 450 instead of the manufacturers directions of 325.
Thanks for the video, it will be my second year using a roaster oven. it didnt come out dry for me but i just wanted to see if others had tip. i use the neck for gravy.
13 minutes per pound for a 16 pound turkey and I would say 350 for temperature but some people stuff the cavity etc so that will have to be factored in. Also, some people start off on a high temperature for 30 min and bring down to lower temperature for the remaining time. Always have a thermometer so you can check the temperature of the turkey to make sure it is cook fully. We aim for a nice juicer and fully cook turkey.
I always use my roaster oven. Preheat to 450...put turkey in...cook for 30 minutes...turn temperature down to 350 for your remaining time. My 19 lb. turkey took 4 hours total. I never lift the lid...the temperature will change and has to reheat. I season my turkey inside, under the breast skin with butter and my seasonings, and all on the outside. Slow is the key to a juicy turkey. Our was wonderful on Thanksgiving. I love my roaster and as long as I can help it, will never bake one in my oven again.
Wow, Debbie that sounds good. My brother is a chef so he actually cook the turkey this year and he didn't use the roaster oven, but I told him don't sleep on it because he base and slow cook turkey with white wine/seasonings etc which is delicious but hey he could have done it in the roaster oven lol and still would have been good.
@@getintheknowwithtoya8725 Yes Toya he could have...lol. He's the chef though. I love my roaster oven and don't know how I lived without one for so long. Happy New Year!

Read and follow the instructions
Oh no...that roaster oven should have come with a rack to help with lifting the turkey out. Good luck this year!
I have one it does have a rack 😂😂😂
Roger that! 🦃 ☘️

Cook at 300 nice and slow. It'll come out moist. I've been using the oven roaster for years. It will not burn.
Awesome Rhonda! And yes don't get rid of that turkey neck - I'm born and raised in New Orleans and my grandma/family wouldn't have that.

2yrs later did you find out how to use it correctly, I read 4-50 for 10 mins per pound xxxx
Cooking a 12 lbs Turkey at 450 degrees it was cooked too long and the breast will dry out.
Yes you are right, that is too high for a small turkey. The temperature/time is definitely is based on the size of turkey.
