Wow. I’m 60, but hadn’t heard of Pentagram until very recently. Top of my bucket list - to see Bobby Liebling on stage. Fantastic. One big problem - I’m in the UK… So we need a Pentagram WORLD TOUR!
Can't believe i've just discovered this amazing gem. they've been putting metal up folks their arses for decades and seem to be pretty alive so long in their career. Big love. This is def my fav of them
Saw them last night in Denver and they were exactly like this. Exceptionally consistent and fun to watch. See them live if you want to have a good time. Also all of their albums are great. There's no hidden stinkers like Saint Vitus' C.O.D.
Setlist from Denver: Death Row All Your Sins Close the Casket Sign of the Wolf (Pentagram) Forever My Queen Tempter When the Screams Come Be Forewarned Dead Bury Dead Curious Volume Dying World Devil's Playground Relentless Last Days Here War Time 20 Buck Spin
Can’t believe this song has been around since 1970. Omfg…how have they been ignored? America has such a diverse music scene that was taken utterly for granted in the mid-to-late 20th century it seems. We KNOW there were innovative and popular American groups from the 60s and 70s, but no one ever bothers to list them or make the points of comparison to the token (and derivative) British groups of that era. It’s infuriating. Most of Deep Purple’s legacy is due to Child in Time, an excellent reworking of an already good song by Its a Beautiful Day. The rest of their stuff is generic Blues Rock. This is so much more original, so before it’s time, yet utterly ignored…why?
The band has been around since 1970, this particular song was written around 1981-1982. But I agree. A lot of it had to do with not having a proper record deal in their early days and having little to no promotion. I don't agree that Deep Purple's legacy is just due to Child in Time. They were as proto-metal as it got in the early 70s and they were all excellent musicians. They are far from the example I'd use to illustrate that other mediocre music was being promoted instead of Pentagram. As much as I may like some of KISS's music, they should not have been nearly as popular as they became.
