      Sherry Kao Anne and Gilbert in Anne with an E is quite wrong because Anne is too close to Gilbert from the start even she still holds some grudge towards him. 😂 she tried to comfort him when his dad passed away which didn’t happen in the book. And that Gilbert is too indifferent to Anne, not to mention his being temperamental and fickle. Gilbert in the book would’ve died in jubilation if Anne made up her mind to befriend with him

      @@Lurker1979 I highly disagree with that. Anne in this version was very cold and superficial. At least in the CBC version, she actually had some feelings for him, but pushed it away. She's so mean in this version, albeit poetic. Gilbert is also a lot less pathetic in CBC version 😂

    I have a feeling that Lucy Maud Montgomery read Little women and was annoyed how Jo and Laurie turned out so she wrote a fanfiction that happened to be one of the greatest love stories of all time !!!

    • @Justbooksmusiccatsandapen
      @Justbooksmusiccatsandapen 4 роки тому +10

      I highly doubt that literature was hard to come by during that time. Especially with women and reading. Little Women was written in the late 1868. Anne of Green Gables was first published in 1908. There's a 40 years time span between the when the two books were first published. To my knowledge, Lucy had the most things published not just the series. I believe she was born in 1874 which was almost a decade after Little Women was written. Louisa May died at 56 whereas Lucy died at 68.

She may have read it later on but I don't think she read it in the beginning of her own writing career as she was really young when she started ( writing at 7 not published obviously but the creative streak was there) And it still doesn't mean that she was heavily influenced by the paring or lack thereof. I was not speaking about the author herself but her characters. Lucy's characters are all based off people she knew cared about loved and had friendships with as well as her own life. Or at least it says so in her journals not the dissatisfied of another author's characters. I've read all of Lucy's stuff that has been published before/ since her death and none of it suggests otherwise.

      They didn’t pay tribute to this scene. The scene your referring to in Little Women (2019) is an iconic scene from the classic novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. If you watch the other adaptations of Little women (like the 90s and 40s versions), you’d see the same scene. Same with Anne of Green Gables, all the different adaptations and versions pull scenes and moments from the book Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. But the two scenes are VERY alike, nonetheless.

      She was.. She was just choosy in what she played. And then there was the ABYSMAL Anne of Green Gables, the continuing Saga.. that was SO bad even the Montgomery family was up in arms about it. But Megan soldiered on in her career.. she was good in Reign even if it was so historically off the mark.

    It's weird how much I can identify with Anne and her relationship with Gilbert. First of all having a boy in your class who you compete with, then becoming friends for 2 years. Then being a girl that wants education and career more than becoming a housewife, even though she falls for the man who purposes to her. Struggles with her own feelings and trying not to hurt the boy nor herself.
