@@chicken7418 Howdy! Personally, I don't think it's a good machine. As I type this we are waiting for what will be the 3rd service appointment on this machine, and at a year and a half old it already needs a new wiring harness and circuit board. This is my second SQ that did this, the first being a TR7 with the same problem. For the premium price it goes for, it has too many problems. However when it does operate it works quite well, always gets the laundry done fast and does a pretty good job, but there is no small load setting so if you only want to wash a small load of socks or something, you have to use a minimum of 2/3rds water level. The Normal Eco cycle does go a little bit lower but that cycle only uses cold water and a spray rinse, and overall doesn't work very well, because of the "eco" part. It's also quite noisy during the middle of the cycle. The machine is only 3.2 Cu Ft, so it could fit but wouldn't wash a Queen size comforter that well, and I don't think it would balance very well with a heavy one. Probably the biggest one you could wash would be a Full size. However the other top loaders on the market that advertise a "Mega 5.0 Cu Ft capacity" may fit the comforter with room to spare, but provide horrible wash performance since they do not have an agitator, which results in poor circulation and may even tear the comforter if it's a low water HE machine because there's not movement. For top loaders the sweet spot is 3.5 - 4.0 Cu Ft, and agitator machines are better if you can get one. With Front loaders, the larger capacity works fine and most will be in the 4.5 - 5.0 range. Yep. When a SQ classic washer is new, the tub brake isn't set in yet. This means the tub will index, and the machine will take longer to stop the tub after a high speed spin. The more loads you do the more it sets in, and you can make it break in faster if you do heavy loads. There is no set time for it to break in, it all depends.
So the control panel overhangs the cabinet by 2 inches or so. directly behind the cycle selector knob, under the ledge of the control panel is a metal lid switch. you can stick a clothespin on the switch between the metal switch piece and the metal block above it. The best way to do this is to start the machine, bypass the switch then open the lid. if you've done it correctly the water should keep flowing and you should NOT hear a lick when you open the lid. Hope this helped you and Thanks for watching! :D
I just got my DC5 Dryer. Is mine malfunctioning? In Timed Dry mode with "extended tumble" off, the buzzer sounds at the end of the cycle, so I open the door to remove clothes. A minute later the buzzer sounds again while the door is open, then after another minute it sounds yet again. Horribly annoying. Does yours have this "feature?"
Yes it does. the machine buzzer should sound twice at the last minute of the cycle. Right after the second time it shuts off. the timer still activates the buzzer even if the dryer isn't on, if it keeps buzzing it is letting you know that you've left the door open.
Hi! It does not have a lid lock, so you can open it any time in the cycle. I didn’t use the screen washers because I have a whole house water filter that traps sediment before it reaches the plumbing in the house. The screen washers also cut down water flow so that the machine fills slower, so leaving them out let’s the machine complete the cycle faster. Thanks for watching!
Greetings from the PPRC great information video. Going to replace my 12 year old WP front loader and a 21 year old Maytag dryer with the SQ set my wife is thinking TR7 and I am thinking TC5003 any thoughts or suggestions.?
Howdy! Thanks for watching. I have owned Both the TR7 and TC5 and I have to say I did not like the TR7 at all, Because of these reasons: 1. it failed to clean ANYTHING dirty. If you get dirty, not even all the time, the TR7 will let you down. I had to soak my pants in a bucket then put the machine on a 2 hour soak and super soil cycle. It also Struggles with large loads because the agitator is bolted to the tub and the removed the transmission that is in the TC5 (TR7 the whole tub just spins for agitation) so it won't last as long, struggles to clean stuff, and won't remove any pet hair/lint. Another thing is after a year the TR7 was. NIGHTMARE. It started going off balance and squeaking really loudly during both wash and spin. And as if that wasn't enough the machine started throwing error codes and The customer service from SQ was very poor. The warranty is just an insurance policy the SQ uses. Eventually they gave up on trying to fix it and replaced the machine which we sold. The TC5 is a fantastic machine that gets the job done every time. It works well, I immediately noticed cleaner laundry when I switched from the TR. But it is very loud during spin. Another thing is the TC5 does not have a water level selector so Deep fill means full tub of water and no deep fill selected means 2/3rds tub of water, or half a tub of water on the eco cycle. So if you do a lot of small loads it is very wasteful. I honestly like the Maytag MVWP585GW better since it has a better dual action agitator, a 4 way water level switch from low to Deep water, and has the same warranty as this machine. Out of the TR7/TC5 deal though the TR7 doesn't even compare to the TC5. The TC5 has a very gentle delicate cycle for any delicate items you may have (it is very gentle, I have a cycle video on it if you are curious) Thanks again for watching and good luck with whatever you pick!
I just bought a TC5. If I open the lid while it's filling or washing the machine pauses. I think there is a way of bypassing this but it's not that big a deal.
Yep! You can bypass it by placing a clothespin on the switch behind the console, there are a few videos on youtube on how to do it. After you do that the machine will, Fill, Wash and Spin with the lid open.
Hi! I had the lid switch bypassed, so the machine doesn’t notice when you open the lid. You’ll notice that the control panel overhangs the cabinet by about two inches, and directly behind the cycle selector knob, underneath the overhang is a little metal switch. You can see it move a little when you open the lid, and it makes a click noise. All you have to do is slide a clothespin on the switch so that the 1st half of the clothespin is sandwiched between the other metal piece in there. Now, when you open the lid you should not hear the click, and the lid switch is bypassed. The machine will now fill, agitate and spin with the lid open. However if you ever need service on the machine, make sure to remove the clothespin otherwise when they notice that they’ll void your warranty. Hope this helped!
Just got mine today, it has a whistling sound when agitating. VERY frustrating, as I don't know if that means that something's wrong with it, & I bought it from AJ Madison online.
if it kind of sounds like a woo-woo-woo then it's normal when there's less water filled in the machine. if it's extremely loud and you can barely hear the solid hum of the motor then there's something wrong with it. Good luck! Thankfully these are under warranty fro 5 years if you register them on the speed queen document website!
I didn’t catch it on camera and I didn’t think it was worth filming at the time. But all you have to do is put the black rubber standpipe adapter onto the drain hose and push it into the drain standpipe, and use the beaded strap to secure it if needed. If you drain into the sink just avoid the standpipe adapter and hang it over the edge of the sink Tip: the white plastic brace is the maximum recommended flex that the pipe can go without kinking or restricted water flow. In some cases like mine it’s unavoidable and you need to take it off to bend it a slightly more but you really don’t want to push it. Hope this helped
I really like this washer. I would like to see you wash a full load on heavy duty with an extra rinse selected. Did I tell you why I love the extra rinse option? I feel that without it, the cycle really feels incomplete. Do you think you can also run it through again doing an extra rinse, but this time without any clothes in it?
Dude I totally agree Matthew, dylbuilder should definitely do extra rinses!! In fact, I request that he runs every cycle on the dial, all with extra rinse selected! /s
I heard these have no lid locks but I also heard that they shut off when opened? Did you have to modify yours or does it simply run with the lid open on its own?
@@Shelzbells these machines are very easy to run open. The control panel overhangs the cabinet a little and right behind the cycle selector knob is a metal tab that pops up and down. all you need to do is prevent that from going up when you open the lid. here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/oyUtyCCnJow/v-deo.html It could make it error out. after a while the machine probably figures out that something isn't right because it is used to the lid being opened after the machine is done. This leads to error code. so basically you'd have to get behind the machine and take out the bypass every time a cycle is done, which means pulling it out. Maytag makes an old school model that is easier to run open.
@@Shelzbells I looked into it further for you and the best machine you can get is the Maytag that I mentioned and all you'd need to do is unscrew the lid latch form the lid and place it into the slot. you just need to take out the 2 Torx T50 tamper-resistant screws from the lock and slide the hook piece down, or buy this piece from amazon (replacement part, same thing): www.amazon.com/W10240513-AP4514459-AH2579805-EA2579805-Replacement/dp/B07TV288F1/ref=sr_1_5?crid=GGK08OHU1CHD&keywords=Whirlpool+lid+strike&qid=1670813660&sprefix=whirlpoo%2Caps%2C665&sr=8-5 and then place it in the lock.

1. Yes it is very loud 2. Incorrect, this is one of the few machines that actually lets you have Hot water straight from your tank, with no cold added. If the hot is coming out warm with this machine, then that means your water heater can’t keep up or isn’t set hot enough. :)

The WTW4616FW and WTW4816FW are now discontinued so is the Crosley CAW35114GW. All of the older agitator VMW machines did have a true dual action agitator (most basic models of older VMW machines typically used a true single action agitator). In 2015, Whirlpool added a late lid lock feature to their washers that only locks when it goes into the spin or rinse cycle. It seems like the newest less traditional looking models don’t really offer a late lid lock tho. Like the WTW5010LW I think locks right when you start it

So the TC5 does not have a lid lock? Why did you not use the screen washers? Is it better to leave I off? If so, what’s the advantage? Thank you

@@Kindlyone777 Anytime! :)
Greetings from the PPRC great information video. Going to replace my 12 year old WP front loader and a 21 year old Maytag dryer with the SQ set my wife is thinking TR7 and I am thinking TC5003 any thoughts or suggestions.?
Howdy! Thanks for watching. I have owned Both the TR7 and TC5 and I have to say I did not like the TR7 at all, Because of these reasons:
1. it failed to clean ANYTHING dirty.
The TC5 has a very gentle delicate cycle for any delicate items you may have (it is very gentle, I have a cycle video on it if you are curious)
Thanks again for watching and good luck with whatever you pick!
Thanks for the info looks like the TR 7 is out. Looks like the TC5 or the Maytag .

What kind of store did you buy the speed queen washer and dryer at?
I bought them from a local dealer near me!
@ what kind of store was it called?
I love the washing machine brand speed queen 👍
@@UdayDhillon-t3o It was Ron's Appliance in Libby, MT. Fantastic place, would highly recommend!
@@UdayDhillon-t3o SQ used to be great, but then they went down in quality. Sadly these machines were some of the worst I ever owned. :(
I just bought a TC5.
How does your keep filling while lids open, mine shuts off 😢 disappointed ☹️
Why no install of the drain receptical?
I didn’t catch it on camera and I didn’t think it was worth filming at the time. But all you have to do is put the black rubber standpipe adapter onto the drain hose and push it into the drain standpipe, and use the beaded strap to secure it if needed. If you drain into the sink just avoid the standpipe adapter and hang it over the edge of the sink
Tip: the white plastic brace is the maximum recommended flex that the pipe can go without kinking or restricted water flow.
🤣🤣🤣

@@DylBuilder1 Then proceeds to a super long narrative on his mom's HE whirlpool.
Dude I totally agree Matthew, dylbuilder should definitely do extra rinses!!
In fact, I request that he runs every cycle on the dial, all with extra rinse selected!

@@Smurdle450 🤣
Is that washer the tc5000 or the tc5003 model.
This is the TC5003WN model.
I heard these have no lid locks but I also heard that they shut off when opened? Did you have to modify yours or does it simply run with the lid open on its own?
they do stop when opened. this includes filling and washing. I held down the switch for this video.
@@DylBuilder1 Switch? Where? You had both hands out in the open lol. I want one of these machines but I want it to run when I open it.
@@Shelzbells these machines are very easy to run open. The control panel overhangs the cabinet a little and right behind the cycle selector knob is a metal tab that pops up and down. all you need to do is prevent that from going up when you open the lid. here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/oyUtyCCnJow/v-deo.html
It could make it error out. after a while the machine probably figures out that something isn't right because it is used to the lid being opened after the machine is done. This leads to error code. so basically you'd have to get behind the machine and take out the bypass every time a cycle is done, which means pulling it out. Maytag makes an old school model that is easier to run open.
@@Shelzbells I looked into it further for you and the best machine you can get is the Maytag that I mentioned and all you'd need to do is unscrew the lid latch form the lid and place it into the slot. you just need to take out the 2 Torx T50 tamper-resistant screws from the lock and slide the hook piece down, or buy this piece from amazon (replacement part, same thing): www.amazon.com/W10240513-AP4514459-AH2579805-EA2579805-Replacement/dp/B07TV288F1/ref=sr_1_5?crid=GGK08OHU1CHD&keywords=Whirlpool+lid+strike&qid=1670813660&sprefix=whirlpoo%2Caps%2C665&sr=8-5
and then place it in the lock.
@@DylBuilder1 You are one of the nicest YT creators I think Ive ever come across. You go that extra mile to help your supporters & answer questions, thats very nice. I have a Maytag washer now and I hate it. Its an MVWB765F. It doesnt clean clothes very well and the agitator runs like its on a delicate cycle. The Maytag you mention must be the commercial style unit?
Did those fancy hoses come with the washer or did you buy them separately? This video is making me want SQ again haha. I'm glad I still have my set, even though the dryer got some dents in it.
No I bought those hoses separately. They are Eastman stainless steel rubber coated hoses I believe. The machine didn’t come with any water hoses. My front panel actually had a shipping dent on the washer but we fixed that with a new panel
@@DylBuilder1 I bought the same hoses from Lowes, but sadly when I was working on the washer, I laid it back and damaged the cold water hose. I was pissed because these weren't cheap.
@@MatthewJames-st5wv yes they are pretty pricey. However they say you only have to replace them every 7 years. I would have bought the LWNE22 series like Smurdle450’s grandmother has but I didn’t care for the fact that there had no water level selector and the only time it wouldn’t use a full tub was on normal eco where it would do 3/4.
@@DylBuilder1 I'll have to check those out. You know I still have my original SQ hoses lol. I'm surprised yours didn't come with any. My set came with hoses and a dryer duct, even though I didn't need one.
@@MatthewJames-st5wv That’s odd. I guess they cheaper out or couldn’t get as many to distribute with every new machine.. and do you know of any residue on the top of the tub that when you rub it with your fingers it leaves blue dust on your fingers?
Wow, looks (and sounds) like the stuff they sold here in Germany in the 70s. That's not a washing mashine but a time machine. 🤪
It's definitely a throwback! The drive system is built VERY similarly to the old Maytag Helical drive machines from the 70's/80's, hence the similar wash action and sound. Tried and true!
Is hot wash, true hot?
Yes. Straight From Whatever your Hot water tank is set to, Just how it should be! It doesn't fill with any cold for a Hot Wash. However the Normal Eco Cycle uses only cold water regardless of what you set it to. But all other cycles are a true hot :)
@@DylBuilder1 thank you for the reply! I have a 2016 model. I was sad to hear they made changes in 2018. I wish this one had load selection options like mine, but glad they kept true hot and deep fill!
@@itsyourbirthmidwiferyservi4087 That is probably my biggest complaint is that you can't get it to be below 2/3rds full. But the true hot wash is awesome.

So I’m supposed to believe that slowly moving rotator is washing all them clothes properly?
😂 hellz nah..
@@moment.3.2.1yt The “rotator” is pulling the clothes torwards the center, down to the bottom and back up sides of the wash basket, creating Turnover. This system has been used for decades and is very effective.
It moves slower than some other agitator machines due to its wider 180 degree stroke, instead of agitating more rapidly at something like a 90 degree stroke.
A lot of reviews about the TC5. No review about the TR series. The zTR series is a disaste
I Plan to do a review on my past TR7 someday, it was absolutely lamentable!
The rinse cycle is way too short on this washer.
The video was edited, the real rinse cycle time is exactly 3 minutes. The delicate cycle is a little longer since it pauses dur8ng agitation.
@@DylBuilder1 Oh...ok. I'm glad that the rinse cycle actually allows people to use fabric softener, because a 30-40 second rinse isn't long enough for it to work.
@@jamesorsby7553 Yep. The 2017 Speed Queens only had a 2 minute rinse I believe, so even shorter!
Machine is way too loud. Also the hot isn’t hot
1. Yes it is very loud
2. Incorrect, this is one of the few machines that actually lets you have Hot water straight from your tank, with no cold added. If the hot is coming out warm with this machine, then that means your water heater can’t keep up or isn’t set hot enough. :)
@@DylBuilder1 I figured out the hot issue. Eco mode doesn’t allow hot because it’s not economical. All other modes get hot
@@mh-12-34-6-b Yep! The Normal Eco is the EPA mandated cycle for energy and water savings, so it doesn’t allow true hot water, or an entire tub of water
Get a high efficiency washing machine. Speed Queen sucks. My dad’s Crosley is over 10 years old. It is extremely loud when it spins tho probably due to how fast it spins. It is a really loud roaring noise like a jet is taking off.

@@homeguestunton I don’t think those clean well. Especially if they’re large capacity like 4.9 or bigger
@@DylBuilder1 Most of the new VMW Whirlpool washers don’t even have real agitators tho (except for the most basic Roper/Amana/Kenmore/Admiral models).
