Well, as a dance analyst, I realized that lambada had a bad rap before it became gradually accepted into Brazilian partner dance history. This dance from Brazil had indirect lead-ups to other Latin close-embrace dances, like the zouk, Argentine tango close embrace, and the kizomba. It even led to the Tex-Mex quebradita later on. Lambada roughly meant "whip" in Portuguese, and the Brazilian government at one time tried to forbid this partner dance on the grounds that it was too lewd for the status quo to observe. With a mixture of merengue, freestyle swing dance, bop dance, party dance, and even some samba in between in one mixture, some of the signature lambada moves include the sentada (or checked turns on the lady from side to side), and of course, the back-bend dip for the lady.
