Thank you so much for investigating this topic. Traveling to other countries as a trans person is terrifying. Knowing there are people who think of us as human beings is really important.

I love that you put the Japanese subtitles! Many channels don't do that, keep doing that, it's great!

Can I make a suggestion though? Can you put the English subtitles in the CC? For English as their primary language, English speakers will automatically focus on the English portion of the video. This makes it hard to try and read the kana on the videos. If you put it in the CC, this solves the issue. Someone who wants the CC can just turn it on and those that want to try and read just the Japanese can turn it off.

I loved the video! As queer person it made me feel like I'd be much more welcome in Japan. I'd love to see what Japanese people's views on homosexual marriage are. Also as a Japanese learner the subtitles were very helpful!

A video interviewing transgender people would be a great sequel to this one!

You found some very open minded people.
I know from friends and my own experiences in Japan that the overall situation tends to be pretty… well they don’t want to express anything negative outwardly.
There was a phrase that put it well “if any random person is gay/trans, that’s none of my business. But if it’s my child, then that’s my family? えええええええと。。。”

Yes, I tend to agree with this. People are quite accepting and polite on the superficial level, but when it comes to dating or having a transgender family member the deeper biases come out.

めっちゃ すばらし! As someone who is learning Japanese and plans to visit annually, this is great material. I am highly invested in learning about social issues in Japan.

I wish the video was longer! I like that you provide subtitles and ask about important topics. I wonder if some people are nice objectively and because Japan is a country in which society is important or if they actually care themselves. The old lady response was beautiful and interesting

I started watching your videos this week, and I've really enjoyed them so far! The topic of this video is a really important one, so I wanted to leave a comment here. Because there are certain groups/circles in the west that believe Japan can be hostile towards LGBT people and causes, it's very refreshing to watch a video like this where we can see what Japanese people's thoughts on the issue are. Thank you so much for covering this important topic, and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!

Interesting topic and answers. No idea if it's just my outsiders perception and very little experience with japanese people, but in general I have the feeling they're generally quite accepting and respecting towards LGBT topics. One thing I kept asking myself is whether gay men are *really* that accepted compared to lesbians and transgender individuals. One of the very few japanese people I know (who's been living in Europe for 10+ years) reported that his sexuality was the source of harassment and general avoidance.

Great video! As a transgender woman in the US considering moving to Japan, this was really useful for me.

while it was a small number of people interviewed here, i was surprised about the level of acceptance seeming much higher than here in the usa. usa is thought of as a diverse place, but i think an interview like this here would be much more negative. also law makers are constantly restricting the rights of transgender people in the US.

I think Japanese people are a lot more open and as long as something doesn't bother them or distrupt society itself then they don't really mind

I’m an intersex male living in Japan. I’d like to see people’s feelings on intersex people. And also do Japanese people know what being intersex means or not

Bible isn't clear on that subject : if a trans man is indeed a man therefore according to the bible it means a trans man cannot pretend to be a woman.

This video is useless, everyone forces themselves to be politically correct, so their answers are not honest or truthful.

you realize japan has different politics than america or wherever else your basing the "politically correct" stuff off, right?
