The "Sometimes I feel like i live in a world made of cardboard" speech to Darkseid was hilarious and epic

When Superman delivered that speech to Darkseid, all I could think was, "Oh boy! Big Blue is about to bring the pain!"

That fight between Superman and Captain Marvel is on of my favorites. He didn’t really crush Shazam, he outsmarted him.
no. he messed him up. Shazam was bruised, had a black eyy, and had a hurt arm.
Punched through buildings, beaten mercilessly, smashed repeatedly with a very heavy bank safe, and then used Shazams own attack against him.
He crushed *and* outsmarted him.
The fact Kal-El holds back makes him even more dangerous than fellow Kryptonian General Zod
And the fact that superman absorbed more solar energy than zod which makes him arguably stronger than zod who only absorbed the solar energy for a few hours. The only thing that kept him from going all out against zod is his humanity
Imagine if he went all out against zod from the start. The whole zod squad would have been solo'd before they could launch the terraforming machines😂😂😂
Bottom line is, never mistaken Superman's kindness for softness. Otherwise, you'll just see how powerful he really is.

Superman beating the living brakes out of Darkseid gave me goosebumps. One of the most thrilling scenes in animated history.

Superman reversing the spin of the Earth is frequently criticized ... though it really just depicted his breaking the time barrier. The Earth didn't really spin backwards just it looked like it because he was going back in time.
What makes Superman so great is that he is an inspiring person who gives his all in order to improve the world.
Superman gives a speech about how he has to treat everything around him like it is fragile due to his immense strength. He tells Darkseid that he lives like he is surrounded by cardboard. He punctuates his words with punches before revealing that he is not holding back, unleashing his full force on Darkseid, which is an epic moment for the character and one that has shaped future iterations.
Superman is the symbol of what people should strive to be, while still being a compelling character that suffers and triumphs through his trials and flaws.
Superman is the bright shining star at the center of the team, and he has helped them through their darkest times. Superman is always there to guide the team and help them save the day, no matter what the odds.
In the most terrible situations, the heroes look to Superman for guidance and his example serves to spur them on. His heroism has given every hero he knows inspiration. He is a symbol for all of them, the one hero who everyone else looks up to.
In Apokolips War's movie, Superman beating up Darkseid gave me Injustice vibes.

Superman is the hope bringer for DC Comics as a whole due to being the paragon of goodness and humility, his incredible powers, and incredible empathy for people from all walks of life.
There is something deeply rich and sympathetic about George Newbern's performance of Superman so he brings out an element of humanity that was always missing in the various iterations of the Superman character.
Nice to know that some on this list aren't just Superman being brutal, and in some cases even when he is being brutal it's either somewhat justified or he stops himself from going to far. Superman without restraint is a scary thought. Superman with control and compassion is something that we should appreciate.
Ya alot of villians would be in thier Graves instead of in jail if a unbound superman was unleashed. A good man going to war is the scariest thing.

Sometimes finding the line is instantly regretted. All the villains want to push him to kill someone but they don't realize when he crosses that line it's world breaking, not body breaking 😅
Superman represents how good humanity can collectively be and a celebration of embracing people of all walks of life.
George Newbern was able to act his speeches and dialogue throughout the animated series, and how it differed in other portrayals outside the DC Animated Universe, really showcased how perfectly suited he was for the role of Superman.
Respect to George but Tim Daly was better in Superman TAS especially the chemistry with Kevin Conroy Batman in World's Finest, Public enemies and Apocalypse

Fun thing about number 1, the one that voiced Superman there George Newbern also plays the voice of Sephiroth so it really sells the idea of him losing it.

Superman is the heavy hitter that everyone can rally behind. His fighting style is simple and efficient, depending as much on his muscles and powers as anything else.
Thanks to his heroic exploits, Superman becomes quite a popular figure for the entire world all around. The majority of the superhero community admires and looks up to him, and though he was popular in Metropolis, other cities like having him visit from time to time.
People I would absolutely never want to piss off:

My favorite part about Superman vs The Elite is that him seeming to cut loose at the end wasnt really to show The Elite what he would look like unrestrained. It was to show the world, which had largely been advocating for him to take a more hard line stance in the movie, that they really didnt want to see him be like that. He could have taken The Elite down in much less overtly violent/scary way and that would still have taught them the lesson they needed to learn. But it wouldnt have taught the rest of the world what they needed to learn.
Injustice is the perfect example of what happens when Superman loses control

Justice league unlimited Superman really did drop beatdowns
No one has the heart to do the right thing more than the Man of Steel himself.
Remember when Zod touched Martha in MoS and Superman punched him through a few states or when he pummeled Darkseid in Superman/Batman Apocalypse for beating his precious cousin...yup the dude has his moments
It's a shame that scene from Superman/Batman: Apocalypse wasn't in this list, or even just an honorable mention. Even though he took quite a beating, he also delivered it. Kara was an absolute beast in that fight as well, especially the part where she avoids Darkseid's omega beams and uses them against him. I always love seeing her get more attention alongside her famous cousin.
He didn't punch Zod through a few states, though. He punched him from the Kent farm outside Smallville into the town center of Smallville. The entire fight took place there. Superman threw Faora into the IHOP and Pete Ross was there. That's where he works, as was established during scenes of Lois' search for Clark. You even see the name of the town on the watertower.
Superman was the first modern superhero, and has served as a role model for everyone who came after him. His multiple nicknames have been a part of this as well. Most people know his main nicknames, the Man of Steel, the Man of Tomorrow and the Metropolis Marvel.
Heroes and villains alike have been known to call him Supes, and then there is the Big Blue Boy Scout, which is used both in endearing and derogatory senses. Finally, he has just been called Big Blue, although that is used to his face very much and is more just shorthand among the hero community.

Superman cares about everyone so much that he will do anything in his power for them, whether it be stopping an intergalactic warlord or visiting sick kids in the hospital.
I actually hate number 2. Superman is my fave hero but tbh, Darkseid ate those hits and Lex had to step in and save Supes. Personally, the beating he gave Mongul (#14) should’ve been #2 as he was REALLY pissed off then.
I think many people prefer the Darkseid fight purely because of the "world made of cardboard" speech.
George Newbern's Superman shared a lot of the strengths of Tim Daly's version, but he also introduced a level of emotional vulnerability that was absent from that previous version. Superman's relationships with his fellow Justice Leaguers ended up being richer and more rewarding than those from his solo show, and George Newbern made those connections feel authentic. His speech to Darkseid in the series finale about living in a cardboard world is some of the very best acting DC Animation has ever given us. Superman has been blessed with a deep bench of voice acting talent, but George Newbern is the essential Man of Steel.
George Newbern gives his best performance as Superman to date, without question. He is absolutely chilling during the climactic battle, but he manages to bring real weight to his words regardless of the situation. George Newbern did a great job during his run on the Justice League animated series and Justice League Unlimited, but he has a successful performance in Superman vs. The Elite.
Personally, I'd switch #1 and #2 on this list, but they're both excellent moments. The #1 here is a little tainted because Superman isn't actually killing anyone, just pulling off a ruse.
Tim Daly brings a lot of compassion and humanity to the role of the Man of Steel that helps ground a character with so many fantastical abilities.
Tim Daly brings a humble and down-to-earth performance to the character that makes his Superman very likable each time. Tim Daly perfectly brings the same amount of intensity and emotional depth that Batman: The Animated Series brought to Batman.
Tim Daly was the perfect person to play Superman at this stage in his career and his performance as an iconic superhero that remains readily identifiable to those who grew up hearing him.
Superman has always been an inspiration to the DC Universe so he represents everything good about humanity and is a beacon of hope for the future, inspiring countless others to follow his example.
Superman is a humble man beneath all his grand power and heroic prestige, would do anything to help others and is one of the most compassionate, loving and inspirational figures anyone would ever come across.
Tim Daly's complementary work in Superman: The Animated Series is even more impressive. Tim Daly understands the weight on the shoulders of Superman and the different directions that his life pulls him in.

There is a reason he is the true leader of the superhero community because he makes sure everyone gets exactly what they need to succeed.

Clark Kent was taught by his parents to look out for everyone, something he took to heart, and his sphere of responsibility has expanded exponentially as time has gone on. Superman is the defender of the entire multiverse, a man to whom responsibility is life.

This iconic fight scene on Kingdom Come between Superman and Captain Marvel was the animated version for the Justice League Unlimited episode Clash.
Tyler Hoechlin always manages to effortlessly bring out the fatherly side of Clark Kent and the courage of Superman.
My favorite is the intro to DC Universe Online. PIssed off Supes floating in space opens his eyes and they're just glowing red...just an amazing intro video.
favorite is definitely Dark: Apokolips War, when he just bodies Darkseid over and over again, including the thumbs in the eye sockets and then just ragdolls him. so satisfying

You know what they say “Beware Of The Nice Ones” What I love about Supes is despite being insanely powerful, the dude is pretty humble.
Not just him, Goku is also like that too, I remembered when Zamasu and Goku black revealed what happened to his family, Goku was furious and beated them up. 😍

Top 10 Most Intense Superman Fights.
Superman is the entire reason DC Comics has superhero in the first place. He was where all the other superheroes come from, and it shows within the universe as well. His existence inspires the Legion of Super-Heroes over a thousand years into the future, convincing a group of different aliens to come together to protect the galaxy.
Whenever Superman has violent confrontations with any of his most personal enemies, George Newbern delivered amazing performances.
Superman is reliable on every level, always ready to help the Justice League of America with anything.
I would have included Superman v Darksied from S:TAS S3E13 Legacy part 2, he wiped Darksied butt and if not for the lowlies he would have killed him.
You forgot Superman The Animated Series Legecy Part 2. When Supergirl almost dies because Darkseid brainwashed Superman and sent him to conquer Earth. Long story short, Sups is so mad he goes straight to Apokolips and beats Darkseid to within an inch of his life. Then throws him into one of the best lines from a villain of all time.
Superman embodies everything about the values of Metropolis: keep fighting the good fight, make the world a better place, and help your fellow man.
Tim Daly has a mature and relaxed voice and can properly convey the generous and fatherly personality of Superman.
Christopher Reeve captured Superman's sense of hope, whimsy and joy like no other actor has.

Might just be me, but I think the idea behind #15 isn't that Superman's reversing the Earth's rotation, but that he's flying _so_ fast that he's circling the planet multiple times per rotation, so it just *looks* like it's going in reverse. He's basically using centrifugal force to accelerate past the speed of light and fly backwards in time, then turning around and flying the other way to decelerate to normal speeds afterwards.
...Probably. It'd make a lot more sense than reversing the planet to rewind all of reality!

Whenever Superman goes “beast mode” it’s already over before it even started. Like seriously… his name is literally Superman.
Every time Superman is in the city, Metropolis is the safest place to be. He can be anywhere in seconds, saving people from crime and accidents alike.
Superman vs. The Elite adds to the rich legacy of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series, spotlighting an important chapter in the annals of Man of Steel stories. Bringing back George Newbern gives the film a nice touch of nostalgia for fans of the Justice League animated series, and Pauley Perrette gives Lois Lane altogether new dimensions with her performance.

1. Superman didn't kill Zod on Superman 2 (1980). That myth has been BUSTED since 1980.
Further reinforced by the deleted scenes where you see the police taking Zod, Ursa and Non away -- alive and well.
2. Superman didn't have a choice on Man of Steel (2013). Zod forced the choice onto Superman, especially since Superman would never let that innocent family be barbecued like that.
In fact, he cowered into Lois. I don't think he actually cried, but I wouldn't blame him if he did despite doing the right thing.
That what separates Superman from either Injustice Superman or Justice Lords Superman.

The Tim Daly version of Superman was self assured and competent. Tim Daly sets the template for how the character of Superman has been voiced ever since.

Ok, 2 things about Superman. 1. When he let go on Darkseid.... OMFG... That voice actor got every penny of his pay. That gives me chills every time I watch it. And, 2: I never understood the bit where, in the final battle of Superman II, when they were doing the 'hologram tag' thing. Sup says "We played this game in school, I was never very good." or words to that equivalent. HOW could he have played that in school ON EARTH????
