Yeah, you can see their primary goal with this new tower was to make the stairways protected and separated from one another to maximize the likelihood you can take the stairs to get out, even if a commercial jet flies into it.
I like that they made a special staircases for first responders to use in an emergency.
Is it just me or does anyone else think those staircases are still to close together...? Like if a big ass plane like the one from 9/11 would smash through the floor it looks like it would destroy or at least damage both of them.
@@BlackChad792 A concrete core that thick would be effectively impenetrable to aircraft. High strength concrete combined with heavy reinforcement would shield most of the core from any impact damage. The original WTC had an open core with only steel beams. The walls were only Sheetrock, like you would find in most houses.
#johnnyx100 🌟🌟🌟💗💗💗🤑🤑🤑🤑
@@BlackChad792 Yeah, like someone else already noted, a thick reinforced concrete core would protect against an airplane. It's how they make containment buildings for nuclear reactors...
That core is massive, like half of the whole building.
Barely leaves any actual usable space for the tenants
@@markr7083 true but remember the twin towers had an open floor plan which lead to its demise so not making that mistake again
@@fannynoriega9249 open floor plan is what sold the space
@@stevengower Ironically enough, they had trouble selling space in the old twin towers which is why so many government/city organizations had offices there
@@fannynoriega9249 the only reason it got hit is because it was so high, so I don’t get why they didn’t build 2 builds half the size, this would mean a plane or something like that would not be able to hit it as all the buildings in front.
I saw it back in 2014 very nice building. I like how they added steps for first responders. Post 9/11 they thought of everything. Cool video!
Good but unfortunately you can’t never think about everything.
@@jolldoes1515 true but at least it’s something that was put into motion, as this wasn’t apart of the original twin towers design.
I wonder if they have equipment every 10-15 floors for a number of first responders ahead of time. Like Oxygen tanks on the 30th, Multiple Houses that are able to span the lenght...
etc..
Well, the original towers had steps, but they weren't any good after a certain height. In addition, think of first responders walking up all those steps with all their gear. Pure stupidity to have buildings that high.
@@mrblock1318 doubt it, too costly
I love the design of the building. It kind of pays homage to the two towers but starting off as four side at the bottom (which I’m sure serves a structural purpose), and then twists up into 8 sides towards the top. Such a gorgeous design ❤️
The base is the same dimensions as the original buildings, but the top is smaller.
Yeah! It’s also like a giant concrete bunker at the base
What a lovely tower, so majestic. In love with the metallic blue glass exterior. A lot of careful thought was put into creating this beautiful gem .💎
I just can’t explain how much I love everything about this building, it’s just sooooo awesome!! I’m so happy to be able to say I’ve been in that building before and everything about it is the reason why it’s forever and always my favorite building ever constructed.
-an architectural technology major
How much did that degree cost lol
@@CommanderBruh it’s been 8 months, I think he drowned in the debt….
Even with this building up…. The New York skyline is still empty without the Twin towers🥺
I hope that when they eventually build 2 WTC they build a replica of Freedom Tower without the antenna array on top, just like the original.
I've been to the observatory before, the elevator ride up & down is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
You can see some of the features of "learning" from the old WTC design. There seems to be three stairwells instead of two, and two of them are further separated so that it increases the chance that one of them is usable and they don't both get blocked. See timestamp 2:19
There were three stairwells in the original buildings as well.
I’ve been to the observatory 3 times, it’s one of the most amazing experiences
Does it come near to the rooftop of the previous one? srsly doubt it. 95 floors vs 110 floors, meh...
@@pawel1545 No comparison to original WTC
Pretty expensive though, no? Can't even go onto the roof u like the old one.
@@leeriches8841why do you wanna go on the roof with a bunch of cooling systems and and whole ring around the top + countless more, if you wanna go on an open air deck super high up go to the edge in Hudson yards
@@pawel1545it’s 102 floors actually, I heard the height from the observatory is about the same as the original.
The elevators here are fast as hell though.
Wow, this is a very interesting video. I love the structure design of the World Trade Center, especially as it fixes lots of the mistakes pre-9/11.
Personally, I think it’s difficult to consider the past towers a mistake in some way. Aircraft the size of a 757/767 simply did not exist back when these things were built, and even if they did, the concrete technology to make cores as strong as they are now, similarly didn’t exist. Even putting that to the side, a terrorist attack really wasn’t something designed for; 9/11 was quite unprecedented.
The pre-9/11 world and post 9/11 world, for better or worse, is a vastly different place. The unprecedented nature of these attacks is specifically why the legacy of said attacks is so far-reaching into our everyday lives. The TSA, for example, came into being specifically as a 9/11 security shakeup.
Most mistakes, engineering wise, are always figured out after a tragedy.
Yeah pretty unpredictable that a big ass plane would crash into it…
Calling the design of the TT a ‘mistake’ is wishful thinking. The architect didn’t get a full evacuation plan in case of 400 mph plane strike, because it hasn’t happened yet. The word you’re looking for is ‘faults’
You guys realize 9/11 wasn't the only attack on the Twin Towers....? Sure they didn't expect a big plane to hit the tower, but they did expect some sort of terrorism to do with the towers. It was literally the most famous towers in the world.
Great and simple video! Always cool to see the core layouts and design used - of course here being more important than the norm. It's neat to see lessons learned from 9-11. Prayers that this building stands for a long time and for those we lost on that day. Great modeling!
I find it sad that 9/11 forced so many changes.
Lessons will never be learned. Even the Pilots could have possessed 38 Revolvers yet wasn’t issued.
Fantastic video, really interesting to see the floor layout too
The biggest point against 1WTC is not making the roof height 1,776 feet then having the antenna bring it up to 1,973 feet which is the year the Twin Towers were completed.
Having the antenna count toward the full height is such a cop out. The Antenna isn’t even covered in the planned spire to make it look less naked.
Since we aren’t getting Twins again, we should’ve at least made 1WTC bigger by roof height than the Twin Towers.
In a big way, I agree with that sentiment. They could have made the roof height 1,776 feet and used a 225-foot antenna spire to raise the total height to 2,001 feet to symbolize the year the old towers fell, but I feel that would be very insensitive to the families who lost loved ones and friends that day. But I agree that counting the spire toward the total height of a building is cheating as opposed to counting to the roof or the highest occupied floor.
I agree. To say a building is 1,776 feet tall when almost the top 400 feet are an antenna is not accurate. The height of a building should be measured from the ground level to the top of the roof.Antenna and spires should not count.
Agreed, but there's no market for office space anymore. They struggle to find tenants, which is why WTC 2 hasn't been started and may never be. I think they only made One WTC as big as they did for symbolic purposes. A smaller building would have actually been more practical.
@@wll1500Indeed. The pandemic caused a paradigm shift in the way business is conducted. The news full of stories now of people revolting against the companies for which they work for forcing them back to the office after they got so used to working from home. While COVID-19 is continuing its long slog into the endemic phase, it is anything but through with us, and even the most careful people are still paranoid about getting it despite being fully vaccinated and still wearing their masks in public. Old habits die hard.
That for you for sharing the new World Trade Center Building. Having lived in New York back in the 1970s, I miss the two tall World Trade Center I & Ii and the other World Trade Center Buildings. But again thanks for showing the new tall building.
I used to have family and friends that worked in World Trade Center IV (4). And then the old Nassau Street or Sqaure was in the that area close where I used to always see a street vender for lunch.
Thank you so much again.
Do the original All 7 Buildings of the World Trade Center, specifically the Twins aswell.
Having separate stairs for first responders is a fantastic idea. That’s something the Trade Centres didn’t have in the 9-11 attacks
This is awesome man! I always look into both The Twin Towers and The One World Trade Center. This building is truly a thing of beauty
It really is. They built a park around it and I went this past 9/11 and people were sitting in the park in silence. I've never been that close to it. It truly is an AMAZING site. ❤

They cheated with that Spire.. …
But no, it’s a gorgeous tower and a symbol that says “you will NOT keep us down”
And I love it
1,368 is how tall Tower one was, that's why it's that height. The U.S. could've easily build it up to 1,776 ft but decided honoring the towers was more important.
@kotori Because of the antenna, the actual floors are is the exact same height as tower one.
@kotori Yes.
@@WalrusWinking that is gay
They should have done this:
First a main building (WTC 1.) 541 metres to the roof with a rooftop observatory.
Near this main building stands two new towers, the same height as the originals (idk if the antenna will have to be taller this time because of the main building
Wow, a great video & very interesting 👏 thank you & keep up the good work! 👍

Great video. Thanks.
The most important thing is to have regular drills so people must always be prepared for the unknown. Evacuation is the key to survival. People in previous wtc who had the opportunity to escape on time took long as they hesitated. Some didn't even know where the stairs were.
I remember last year I had to pee so bad after FINALLY seeing the World Trade up close and I went inside one of the buildings and the bathroom just felt super eerie
Crazy how much floor space is eaten up by elevators and stairs.

I got to see it when i was in New York , 2012 they were still building it

They should twin this tower.
Hello please make a video of the older towers, the core explained like in this video. Thanks.
What's the area that's near the top of the building and has a different outside appearance from the rest of the structure?
Cool
I still think they should've rebuilt both towers again. Just saying 🤷♂️
I actually like the design of Freedom Tower. The new 2WTC should be a mastless Freedom Tower, as a tribute to the original twins.

Hard to believe that just 70' of foundation beams holds that thing from falling over from a large wind or hurricane storm.

Nice building but there should have been two
I still would be too afraid to live beyond like a 6th floor, where fire engines can't reach. So many variables could happen, and to rely on stairs means hopefully you can get out of all the doors first....I wonder why they don't make fire stairs on the outside? Yes it's high...but...
@Daniel Chang trapped on the outside stairway? Well at least it's an option if they built it. Modern buildings can still look good with fire stairs ...safety is paramount.
No one lives here lmao
I gotchu
ua-cam.com/video/WQ6f-RXrQrA/v-deo.html
@@Goldrefinedthrufire In terms of building code you wouldn’t be allowed to use an exterior stair case in the event of a fire or emergency. Protected staircases are pressurized and sealed with doors. That prevents heat and smoke from entering the stairways. An exterior stairway is exposed and on a building this height there would be extreme winds maybe even strong enough to suck some people off of their feet
Safety matters anyways I wouldn't be able to work in a high rise 👍
Great video! Is the 1368 feet the height of the outer glass-wall or the roof that terminates slightly below the outer wall?
The world trade center twin towers is better than the new one. It has 107 floor.
Just because it’s taller doesn’t make it better
Ceilings are higher in modern buildings. Meaning same height and less floors
I could explore this building one day.
You should do a render for your idea of what the SpaceX Starship should look like inside

I’m so excited to go!!!
You should do one about 80+ story World Trade Center Building #3.
TDG #1 FULLSUPPORT
They should have made another tower just like they were .
I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but, what makes the emergency/first responder steps special? I would’ve thought a staircase is a staircase, a fire/emergency exit is a fire/emergency exit. Thanks!
I would think that after 9/11 they wanted a dedicated stair case so that people aren't crowding it impeding responders from going up or down with emergency equipment.
@@jonathancorcio3668 right, the firefighters probably killed hundreds of people because of this.
In extinguishing fires In high rise buildings the FDNY stretches their hose lines off an outlet of the standpipe riser which is located in the enclosed stairwell of the floor below the fire floor.
This necessitates that the door to the stairwell be kept open. Unfortunately, it also causes the entire stairwell above the fire floor to fill with heat and smoke.
As a matter of procedure, they designate this as the attack stairway and the other stairway as the evacuation stairway. However, building occupants may ignore such direction. By having a dedicated stairway, the possibility of such a situation might be greatly reduced.
@@azul8811 ahh so it’s an exit with a dry riser in it? I dunno why I didn’t think of that, but that makes sense.
But also makes sense as an attack point. I’ve seen dry risers inside cupboards as well. I used to do telecom installs in a former life (which is why I forgot), and sometimes the cable or power distribution cavities would be next to a dry riser cupboard, and of course, these are part of the building core, with the lift shafts and exits next door.
@@uzaiyaro Actually, I’d imagine that it’s not dry. New standpipe systems are typically “combination systems” in that they are tied in with the sprinkler system. IDK why they would necessarily be dry because freezing is not an issue inside a structure that is heated. You can tell if it’s a combination system by the yellow color of the Siamese on exterior of the building. Green Siamese for sprinkler, red Siamese for standpipe and yellow for combination.
Unlike in some jurisdictions, the NYC Code requires that standpipe outlets are located in the enclosed stair rather than in the public hall. And again the FDNY stretches from the floor below the fire floor.
They could have made those rings around the spire into an outdoor observation deck
They need to have back up systems in a sperate building away from the main tower so they wouldn't be crippled like they were during 9/11
No doubt they do, there is probably a lot to that building that isn’t common knowledge.
They should have it all ramped instead of stairs for at least one.
The facility I worked in we were rated to withstand an overpressure wave of 10 psi and the walls were 3 ft thick reinforced concrete
We were told the closest Target for nuclear missiles would be 5 mi away and we would be able to survive a 10 megaton blast 5 mi away with no damage to the facility
I don't know how many psi that translates to but PSI versus overpressure wave PSI is a much different and much lower value
We could have withstood an airliner crashing into us with no damage inside
The facility was built in 1960s at a cost of 18 million dollars
What facility was this, because it must have been deep underground if it stood any chance of withstanding 10mt detonation from only 5 miles. 5 miles is basically point blank range when it comes to nukes that large.
Will this be a series of videos? Will you do other floors? This was very well done.👍
He is going to make a video about the giant octopus which knocked the towers down 🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙👾👾👾👽👽👽🛸🚀🛸🤖
It's possible, if I have more money and time for future rendering.
@@3DLivingStudio If you do, please do the floors in which the planes actually hit, as a tribute of sorts.
I think that every floor along with every other work area that has a employee should have a emergency personal first aid flashlight gas mask &water kit along with a emergency guidelines instructions to follow & to evacuate if needed also a grip gloves for a fire pole that firefighters have to slide down to reach the ground and instructions on how and where to go on the loud speaker that loops. Message until switched off and otjer safety measures if all fails and a plan C,D,E to evacuate with motion sensors for sensing nearby fire and other things that might slow a person down similar to the waze app gos spotting everything around u while driving before coming close to the object so people can be prepared and not panic but be smart
They need to make a video explaining why they insist on counting the antennas for height. I never really understood why they do
The glass is a structural curtain wall also
Conde Nast (Bon Appetit) has a office and kitchen
They should have made emergency shoots on alternating floors so every even floor would have an emergency shoot like a giant slide that would go down at a steep angle to the next even floor with bags at the bottom to absorb the speed so people could drop down each set of floors and continue down at a high rate of speed to the bottom through a maximum of 50 slides that would each take about 10 seconds to slide down get off and slide down the next one
Watch out for when the owner buys an insurance policy on it.
what firefighter is supposed to go up like 90 stories with the full gear on?
If there was another event like 9/11 they are definitely not going to use the elevators…
Wow
it seems much more durable, i wonder, if we took a 737,(evacuated ALL people out of the building, went to a alternate universe, not our own) and smacked the plane in the same spot, would the building survive?
simulations say it would. the previous towers were actually designed to survive accidental crashes, planes following the fly zones speed limited of I think, 100mph, but the hijacked planes were going 400mph.
The 9/11 hijackers used 767 so the comparison is not the same, the re enforced core makes the possibility of the stairs being cut off much slimmer which is why so many people from above the impact zone in the North Tower died, they couldn't get down as the original towers core was steel posts and sheetrock which were sheared and destroyed all three stair cases
@@mattheww2797 ok then a 767 lol. Easy edit
