Really related to Gary’s story of just talking about his nerves and “sweating”. I remember a time I was in a meeting with a group I volunteer with. It was in the time coming out of covid precautions, and I’d been absent for a while and not used to being in groups. I had an idea to pitch to the group and was very nervous, and could hear how out of breath and awkward I sounded as I spoke. I decided to just pause and say out loud that I was feeling really nervous for some reason, and while that could have been embarrassing, it instead was freeing and the group offered a lot of support. I also think that moment helped to build a real and honest foundation for my future relationships with those people.
Wow, super freeing to just put it out there and get it off your chest how you were feeling! Way to go! I appreciate when people aren’t putting up this front that they are perfect- cuz nobody is!
Wow, for one. What an AMAZING conversation. I think that I definitely feel out of place almost in every situation ( haha! ) but am trying to be better about not being so self conscious about that!!
Thanks for your honesty. There are probably quite a bit of people out there that feel the same…. But don’t admit it! ❤ You’re not alone. That’s what is so beautiful about the ADHD community. We’re all in this together.
I remember being in any math or geometry class and it definitely looked like it was so much easier for everyone else but me! And had to “bust my butt” like Gary said.
I feel out of place sometimes at religious gatherings. I feel like I am not “as Catholic” as some of the other people in the group. I may not know as many specific prayers or have as much Catholicism education. But that’s really not what matters. What matters is that I am there to grow in my own spirituality. We are all on different journeys. God loves me for me, no matter what!
Great conversation! As a pro speaker, I don’t sweat (like Gary!), I take random turns and forget where I started!! Ever since I tell my audience it may happen and I need someone to remind me where I started, I feel liberated, un-shamed …. And everyone pays even more attention!! Thanks Ryan, our ADHD Coaches Retreat was AWESOME! Thanks Gary! Blessed to call you both friends.
I typically feel out of place when people retain information about courses of action better than I can. My long term recall is typically strong, but short term can be so poor!

I love this Deanna! We are taught to hide all our vulnerabilities, but in my experience it's what makes us more human and relatable.

Thank you so much for sharing this!
Great episode! Love that you MUST check your calendar before committing to something! Great rule to live by.
That was an absolute game-changer for me.
Absolutely!!
Great episode. When Gary discussed being authenticate, it really resonated. But to also make sure that we don’t portray our ADHD selves as victims.
Exactly right! It’s not an excuse, it’s just a consideration that we need to factor into our daily decisions.
Amazing! I always love hearing from Gary!!
The best!
So many gems!

So beautiful Andrea! I promise you god is not sitting up there thinking... "Oh she doesn't know that prayer!" lol!

I set a lot of rules for myself as well.
Smart!
That's a great thing to have in place!
It took me a long time to find a place where I fit in.
Where did you find your place?
Where did you end up finding your place that you fit in?

Same! The struggle is real! lol! I just keep a pad next to me and write everything down. Because it's 100% predictable that I will forget!
Great tip! Write it down! 💪🏼
You are not alone with that! Sometimes it helps to LISTEN to the information or write it down!
Find facts in the failure!
