Time Team was an amazing show! Name a programme now that is educational, funny, accessable to all, and leaves viewers feeling that even though they had only watched, they had been a part of solving a mystery. There are none! Time Team was incredible and the fact it is no longer on our screens is a tragedy
They are coming back they have there own channel now called time team classics and because of patrons they have like 4 or 5 new ones coming out only thing is they are changing up the cast since most have retired or passed away
Without our rainbow sweater wearing Wizard, its not the same. I love Phil and the gang, but Nick Aston made TT. The show wasn't the same after he left, and now that he's gone forever..its just a pipedream.
First preview of the new Time Team episode is visible on the Time Team Classics UA-cam channel. Unfortunately, Tony didn't want to present the show anymore, so there are two new hosts. But there are still enough familiar faces, only a bit older and with a lot more grey hair. And Mick Aston is honoured by calling the team bus "the Mickmobile".
Yeah doesn't ever come off all gimmicky with like a bunch of over-the-top animations and things like that. It really is a wonderful program I think I probably been watching it off and on for 15 years I've had to have seen many of the episodes 10 times
Love this show miss it and miss Mick and Phil I just finished watching a tribute video to Mick that Tony put on it was great to hear what they all said about Mick RIP Mick u will always be missed but you left us so much knowledge to watch and love
To anyone watching this, Time Team is trying to start the show again independently on UA-cam on Time Team classics, they currently have a patreon where fans can support them.
Yes it's also called time team they have quite a few of the full episodes of the show, & have actually made new episodes! New people though but yea its back

Speaking of the fancy 3D scanner: I watched a series (I wish I could remember the name), showing old European cities (lol - they're all old. I ive in Australia). Using 3D scanners, they showed how the city looked in the past. eg> in Venice, behind the facade of a row of houses was, in fact, a huge Jewish temple. It was brilliant.
great idea... a castle on top of a castle, that way you can surprise the enemy with a moat and inside the moat another moat.. and a defensive ditch and right in the middle of the ditch another ditch 👍🤓
Pardon my ignorance but, is that host Baldrick from ' The Black Adder ' with Rowen Atkinson? Tha' was the greatest show ever, smart witty and hillarious, althought covered with a layer of Nitt witt that made it all the more incredible...

Just thinking about other types of records that have been lost, it's not really surprising that they were too, especially given that the site was constantly being attacked, renovated, and again and again in a cycle. Portions of the castle might not have existed long enough for significant records to be made of them! This also doesn't speak to the difficulty in preserving any such records across time, both from neglect and decay as well as fire.
what i don't understand is why they never built any defenses on the high hill adjacent to the castle so they could protect there rear in case of attack from the sea so that the beach/low area would become a killing zone and the hill would give no defensive advantage for enemy cannon fire.
"One day, Lad, all this will be yours.... I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started, all I had was swamp! First a sacred circle, then a stone circle, then a circle with a roof, then a circle mound, then a castle or, church. A church building is still a sacred circle with a roof.
One atop the other. Endless seasons of time they stood, one, by, one, by one... Sentinels keeping a brave watch upon the continent.... Positively circular indeed.
The title reminds of of that part in Quest for the Holy Grail when a castle sunk in the swamp and then he built another on on top, that one sunk as well, lol.
I know it's TV, but what they didn't show on that hill overlooking the castle, they built a Martello Tower to stop/slow anyone trying to get up the hill to cannon the castle. Called Victoria Tower.
It would be cool to restore both castles and join them into one beautiful palace, but I imagine that violates a lot of archaeological and preservational principles

The ivy knows all of the castle's history. Rooted in shelly mortar or mortar with shells, fertilized with human blood and ashes from the attacks... Its ancestors could already have been there in the stone age.
Been watching a few episodes of this series and my question is, if one discovers ruins/objects...why not keep digging past the allotted 3 days? I know ultimately is about money but imagine when someone found some ruins in Pompeii and only had 3 days to dig, then leave.
Pretty sure it has to do with PERMITS to dig on a historical site. It is a tourist attraction now, not a construction site. Otherwise use dynamite and dig down fast and rebuild after.
