in a lot of the examples you give the reason the axes fall near draven isn't because of s key but because of draven being close to terrain. the s key serves to put the second axe closer to first one by pressing s before landing on the first axe.

Yes, infact it is quite similar however there is no reliable way to stand still by only right clicking especially during combat. That is where the S key comes into play and you can use it whenever you need it. It is a MUST learn mechanic on draven, any good draven player will tell you that!

i think it’s because when you s key the axe lands on you and if you didn’t it would go far away

It is in the end the same, but trying manually always will lose you time for an auto or two
