I met him such a dear charmer. Rev. Lowery was a kind soul. He was my Pastor's closest friend ; so we got to see him often. And truly our( benefit)just the same humble, lively, gentleman as he was on that day.

how do you think we got to September 4, 2013? Clinton left us with peace and prosperity, Bush left us with two wars and financial ruin. Obama has spent the last 5 years digging us out of the hole bush made. and, yes on September 4, 2013 we are better off than when Bush left the White House in January 20, 2009. The economy, the banking situation, the housing situation, healthcare, have all IMPROVED from when Bush left office. The numbers speak for themselves.

He knew Coretta personally for decades. I'm sure he, out of anyone, knew how she would approve or disapprove. Stop flaming a youtube video. She was a political individual, even if she did not always stand out as much as her famous husband. In that sense, a political funeral is exactly appropriate.

Trelane, I agree completely. I assume we'll both continue to get those little red numbers beside the "thumbs up / thumbs down" icons. I don't care. Political opportunism at a funeral service (which is for the family/friends of the deceased) is, at best, disrespectful. I'm sure it made the crowd and a few Democrats happy (although a know a few Democrats that were equally appalled) but that doesn't negate the fact: this was wrong.

And so because the word "ass" is in the Bible (notwithstanding the fact it is always used to refer to the animal and never used as a derogatory term), you feel like it's okay for a Christian to say it, huh? Interesting. Tell your pastor that you talked to an ass this week and let me know how he responds.

...in a participatory democracy, bad laws are to be changed and bad officials are to be ousted. Nevertheless, there is a very real respect that Paul uneqivocally calls all Christians to give because the position is instituted by God. For that reason alone, and notwithstanding political differences, Lowery should have done the respectful thing and omitted his political rant from his speech.
As far as your pointing me towards Isaiah 30:8-11, God is speaking to those...

The inauguration today was so forward looking, and then this dinosaur trots out a tired old rhyme that wasn't particularly clever the first time around. All the good he's done in the past doesn't mean he's above criticism for disrespecting the president at the funeral, and delivering a hacky benediction at the inauguration.

I just realized you used the word "ass" in the pejorative sense. I read your profile. Doesn't that kind of language viotate the Christian tenet of "let[ting] no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers" (Eph. 4:29). Tsk tsk. That's a shame for someone who lists the Bible as their favorite book. What a testimony.

Finally, I can see that you have nothing else to resort to except for these "sticks and stones" comments so I'll let you make the last "Christian" comment.
