Morning! Hope you all enjoy this one. It's a quick (for me) punch against the constant christian reframing of God's image issue. Also, I listed the wrong verse about David's wives. That is in 2 Samuel 12:11 not 13. Theres so much 'grape' in this book, i got my verses mixed up.
Sun Worship in bible "Then spake Joshua to THE LORD, and said, SUN, stand thou still upon Gibeon! So, THE SUN stood still in the midst of heaven. And there was no day like that, before it or after it, that THE LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man."-Joshua 10. 12, 13, 14.
It's not accurate at all. This guy has 0 idea what's he's talking about. God is the truth and denying the truth means that the world will be built on lies, and that comes with consequences.
@@Stranzua Ok, let's see what the world looks like if Yahweh was at the wheel: -Yahweh ONLY cares about Israelites so everyone else is screwed -Women are the slaves of men -Killing disobedient children -Killing rape victims or being sold to your rapist -Killing women for not being virgins on her wedding day (funny how that's not really a thing for men) -Slavery, rape, physical abuse, and murder aren't considered sins -And you have an abusive narcissist constantly breathing down the neck of Israelites who will starve them to the point of cannibalism because he's salty they aren't fearing and worshipping him correctly. -Being gay is somehow a sin even though Yahweh created gay people -Yahweh hates non-circumcised men even though they were born non-circumcised. -Worldwide genocide and then blaming us for it. No wonder the people who follow this religion very strictly are amoral.
Exactly. The old "Why you make me hurt you like that!??" trick. The same exact thing an abusive spouse says when he's done being abusive. Then, to make himself feel better he'll throw in a "I only hurt you because I love you" gaslight. God is an abusive spouse, nothing more.
My friend unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. When I told my catholic friend this he said “oh he’s in heaven now looking down on you”. I explained that just two days before his passing we were talking about how we didn’t believe in a higher power. Meaning, if the Christian god is true, he would end up in hell. My catholic friend said “you don’t know that! We don’t know how god works.”
So sorry to hear about your loss! and your other friend's replies sum it up perfect. This god is good, till you have to face the truth of it, then its mysterious.
First, I am sorry for your loss. I know there are no words of comfort I can provide, especially since I am a stranger. Do you wonder if your friend is somewhere now? My grandpa died a couple of years ago; I know that he's gone forever and I will never see him again. I don't worry if he's in hell because of his participation in the Vietnam war (does God consider action in war sins?), and I don't worry if I'll see him in heaven. It is actually nice believing and knowing that there is no afterlife to worry about. Oh and sorry if this reply is too long or is insensitive!
@@disneybunny45 I asked my mom once about "thou shalt not kill" but then Christian kill other people when at war. Her response was, "War doesn't count." Which is very convenient, especially since I'm sure the Abrahamic religion started a bunch of wars themselves. So it's, "don't kill.....unless it's a disobedient child, a rape victim who didn't scream loud enough, or just because you feel like it." 🙄
I'm sorry for your loss. :( Losing someone you care about sucks. Even though I've basically always been an atheist, part of me hopes they are in a better place if one exists. I have noticed that about the afterlife since starting to look at religion. Christians will tell you "Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven." Unless.....they are babies, or the mentally disabled, or just really good people, or was 100% of people who existed before Jesus showed up, or just someone you know and like. Then, suddenly their ONE rules gets thrown out the window. It's almost like they know it's immoral to have such an arbitrary rule on salvation.
“We don’t need the good news of Jesus Christ if we don’t have the bad news of God……” What a powerful and true statement!! Love the new logo! It also signifies, to me, the one atheist in a sea of the religious.

The "professing atheist's" only common stand is that they are all sinners who desperately need the Savior Jesus Christ to save and rescue them from their sin. And because of their pride they reject the love of God that is to be found in Jesus. And yes, the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that everyone needs, because SIN is the "bad news".
@@christophergibson7155 _the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that everyone needs_ It's really not as great as you guys keep making it out to be. Mostly because it's nonsense.
Every time an apologist argues for how God was forced to commit the atrocities he is described as being responsible for in the Bible, I hear Him speak through their mouths, "I don't make the rules"
Thank you for this mindshift, I went to church the other day just trying to get encouraged because I saw how happy the children were over there and there families and it warmed my heart but hearing what the pastor said, I couldn’t understand how encouraged everyone was by any of it. It’s all based on fear plain and simple, i see how frightened they really are, they are just trying to appease God so desperately because they fear going to hell, I questioned why does God force us to love him? They said he doesn’t, you either say yes to his love or you say yes to his wrath, that made no sense to me, i wish they’d atleast admit god forces you to love him, I can’t love a petty god who sends trillions to hell for not worshipping him and telling him how wonderful he is and sends you to hell and says you sent yourself there. No way.
its truly crazy to listen with open ears but be able to watch others around you soak it in as something meaningful and beautiful. Its why I made the slave mentality video on Sunday. it explains this concept well I think
Well technically there really isn't a hell in the Bible as people know it right now. It was all imagery used to describe how God was going to deal with all sin and evil. We need to study a little more haha the Historical, cultural and literary context will help alot in understanding all the imagery and things we might not see by just reading the Bible itself. But I still don't believe Jesus had anything to do with the God of the old testament honestly
My first association inspired by the logo was: Your whole world tilts when your mind is shifted. That moment when something tilts in the wrong way but also clicks and suddenly you see the world in different colours. You may feel like you lost it because your whole worldview is tilted over like a chair, you feel scared that you went crazy now because you see the world differently to how you are supposed to see it. But then you realise that your mind can tilt into different ways, different perspectives and that you are free to explore various worldviews. You are free to turn and tilt and shift your own view until you find the one that clicks and sticks and fits. You lost your grounding but found the freedom to look at the world again and find different patterns of connections. You can build and apply new frames to everything now. And once you feel like you are locked down by a worldview that does not seem quite right. tilt and look again
Wow! That list of bible verses which describe God's pettiness and anger was so powerful! I am definitely going to share this one and I am going to try to list the verses you pointed out with their descriptions as the opening for my post. Thank you so much for this. I am so tired of Christians going on and on about the goodness of God!
@@jonathanyoung8109 Some of them know that I am a atheist and think I have never read to book cover to cover. For example, there was a incident when I showed, 2 Samuel 12:14-18 and a woman got loud and pissed at me. I know a pastor that does nothing but cherry pick about Jesus and I know for a fact that he also has never read the entire book.
Perhaps, you should consider why? "Or do you despise the riches of His GOODNESS, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the GOODNESS of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”(Rom. 2:4-6) Something for you to consider!
In my old neighborhood I would see some parents yell at their children - who were the same age as I - and call them abusive names, particularly "stupid." It's as if they expect their children to emerge from the womb knowing everything there is to know! Some of my friends would joke around about parents who would say, "You're crying? I'll give you something to cry about!" There is also the famous Bill Cosby so-called joke, "I brought you into this world and I will take you out!" Privately, I thought, "Who talks to their children like this? You're teaching them to FEAR you, not LOVE you!" As we go through Yahweh's words in your Secular Bible Study videos, I can see the mold which crafted these parents, and their parents, and their parents. Yes, we get angry at our kids, but to threaten to torment them or k*ll them? Even in jest? Yahweh is definitely a product of our ancestor's primitive imaginations - along with all the other gods. Privately, I hope we take this deity and chuck him in the dustbin. To paraphrase Cosby: We imagined God into this world, and we can imagine him OUT!
The mental chaos produced in children caused by replacing reality with bible stories is called "cognitive dissonance" which can be overcome with threats of eternal punishment.
The mob boss sends his goons around the city to spread his good news. “Tell them that we come with glad tidings. Give them an offer of protection. Inform them that If they comply with my terms, then they will get the best protection, since I am such a gracious guy and all.” Goon number one commends the boss and acknowledges his worthiness for their compliance. However, Goon number two turns his head slightly to one side and asks, “what are we protecting them from boss?” The boss looks in a moment of stunned silence, “from me you idiot!”

"We often see anger as a negative thing" When the outcomes of said anger are consistently negative to the involved parties, yes, I would call it negative. To call it otherwise is to apply bias or skew the perspective. At that point, just call it whatever you want because its lost all meaning. Imagine having to jump through this many hoops just because your imaginary friend is, accurately, framed to be an asshole. "The point of spreading the gospel is to save you from your sins" You mean the sins God gave me because a dirt-man and a rib-woman were tricked by a talking snack in a magic garden to eat from a magic tree? All according to keikaku for God, he's all-knowing and perfect so this was preordained. Thanks, God, for putting me in this no-win situation that I didn't ask for and then making me climb uphill, ass first, just to have a chance to win. What a great guy. "His rightful judgment against sinful humanity" So, God created sin, then created humans to harbor sin just so he could rightfully be an asshole towards us. I have nothing more to say. I'm sure she's a nice person but she's also missing a fistful of gray matter behind her eyes.
God is LOVE. But God hates SIN. Your sin. "The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity." (Psalm 5:5) "God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day." (Psalm 7:11) And this is the "bad news" for everyone. And that is why the gospel of Jesus Christ is the "good news" "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Mat.1:21) Wonderful Savior !
James 1:20 "for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God", but in Ephesians it says to "not let the sun go down on your wrath " and it seems to me that god isn't setting the best examples. And it's pretty absurd to say that this god is all love when he clearly acts like a petty, petulant child, TELLING his people to kill, kidnap and abuse people. Stating that"he does it out of love " is the exact argument a narcissist would give.
God is love! And He is just. He hates sin and will punish it. Your only hope is Jesus! You need to stop quoting scripture as an ignorant twister of God's word. Go read it yourself instead of cherry picking something from the bible and then run your narrative as if you know what you are talking about. This whole channel and followers are just lost people who love their sin and hate God. Good luck with that. What a great channel purpose? LOL A guy who uses the bible from a depraved mind and then convinces himself that it says things it doesn't. That's a narcissist! A narcissist will take anything you say and spin it against you, making themselves out to be the victim while abusing others.
Logo is perfect! The designer did a fantastic job capturing what you wanted to say, and I get the impression from it immediately. I spent some time with my Ma and her friend, it is very difficult to listen to them praise god when good things happen to them, when horrific things are happening to kids as we speak. It blows me away that anyone can think Yahweh is good. Hope your spring is happy and productive, I'm playing catchup a bit after some time offline 😅
Exact same questions I keep asking. Why does it all have to end in a catastrophe? Why can’t this “god” all mighty and powerful just get rid of all evil. And we can all live in peace. Oh, wait! I am blaspheming now!😒 So, stupid! Thank you for everything you do Brother Brandon!🙏🏻
She converted at 16 years old. This idea that she was an "ex-New Ager" is just a marketing ploy.....how can you be an "ex" anything as a teenager? I mean, seriously.... She converted and knew it was all true in ONE NIGHT....."I was a different person," she says, the very next day. In less than 24 hours, she was totally sold on Jesus. She's spent the rest of the time in her life working to "prove" that Chrisitainity is true, AFTER she'd already determined it was 100% true. She's one of my favorites to do responses videos about...lol...she's a caricature of what's totally wrong with modern Christianity. "Everyone is dumb, except me."
oh thats really intersting. I didn't look into her that much. But if true, its par for the course for the apologist to spin their testimony to make it "more"
her example shows that you can be an ex-honest person as a teenager. Since I've never seen g0d magic, but I know what money is, I think that 16 was the age when she realized how to earn easy money.
But then again, how much of the bible is she really following? She has a job teaching men over the internet, she wears different fabrics together, was she really saved?
The new logo is great! I think this ties in with your previous video of slave mentality. Like an abused spouse, they make excuses for the abuser and how the abuser is somehow not responsible for their own actions. One thing I've noticed is they point out what the bible SAYS about their deity. "Yahweh is perfect and just because the bible SAYS he is." Every narcissist will tell you how great they are without feeling the need to show it with actions. Talk is cheap.
I remember when I was a Christian and with my catholic girlfriend (now my ex), we used to read one psalm every night for our "night prayer" and I vividly remember when I read the end of psalm 137. And we both were like "ehhhh, it must be metaphorical haha.... anyways lets read the New Testament." So many times I read so many things that made me question but I just kept believing because I either didn't want my gf to break up with me or I didn't wanna lose my identity as a Christian. My emotions uterly blinded me to the disgusting archaic things in this book. I'm so happy I discovered this channel and this community where I don't feel dumb for what I believe to be true. Thanks for the awesome content Brandon! Also the logo looks awesome, I love it!!
Always providing very logical and critical thinking on the many absurd and contradictory passages in the Bible. Your effort in digesting the holy book is Olympic gold medal class. As an old boomer I can state that claim from decades of observations and life experiences.
Imagine being an eternal being, watching billions and billions of organisms that came before humans live and kill each other and then not have the patience to wait longer than 40 freaking years with some random group of people. Make this lore make sense?!💀
It probably made more sense when it was written. They had no idea of space or the universe or of how much time the Earth had been in existence. 40 years would have been a long time back then even for a god.
imagine being that entity. And also ALL-creating. You find the flawless, perfectly empty void just fine. The End. (without space-TIME, you never reached the next moment, where you would have chosen to create the universe)
@@istvansipos9940 thats one of my biggest problems with a perfect being. There seems to me no reason for why it would need or want to create or do anything other than just existing as it is.
I know right! People also come up with excuses for the flood saying "you know god waited 400 years before he destroyed the people" How is that an excuse in anyway? This is a timeless infinite being. It's undecribeable how impatient this being has to be when he waits ONLY 400 years before killing all of humanity. Closest example I can come up with is a human saying they're gonna be patient and waiting 0.0000000000000000001 seconds before taking action. It's so obvious all this is from such a human perspective because humans think 400 years is such a long time, but it shouldn't be for a infinite being.
@@istvansipos9940interesting! Makes me think of this weird German philosopher called Mainländer who suggested God was exhausted from being eternal and just wanted to die … so he created the universe into which he infused himself … in order to decay through entropy. Yeah - very weird - but the idea of a deity that doesn’t want be God anymore intrigues me…
I never asked to be born, I never asked for the family I was born into, I never asked anything of their god and I am supposed to believe I will be punished for all these things I have no control over. If I would have had a choice, I might have chosen not to be born. There is no free will in no part of life. If there was a god who could condemn me, he would have to condemn himself. I would have had no choice; he did.
You are so right as I have felt the same way. The only thing I would change from your comment is that I an very happy you were born as you got to experience this life. We all have difficult challenges but I do hope that for the most part life has been good for you.
That is just a self centered reflection of your own life. God who has formed you in your mother's womb and brought you in to this world for such a time as this! "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;...Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man (Jesus) whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” (Acts 17:26-27, 30-31)
I always had a hard time with a loving God being as exclusionary, violent, reactive, jealous and still somehow invested in my individual life. Considering also how cruel he was to Job, who adored and worshipped perfectly, what would he feel entitled to do to me if he desired it? All the examples of God's love paint him as an obsessive being. The kind I wouldn't want to be on the same continent of. Add on being a woman and... This God wasn't designed for my well being, but for my compliance. The biggest stick humanity ever conjured.
I like the new logo and that you explained it. I have only subscribed to a couple of other channels and they have nothing to do with these topics. After having followed you for a while, I finally did it. I wish so many more would. Why? Because I have found you to be clear, concise, appropriate and a good speaker. That means something to me. You have done your research and cover so many areas that have been helpful to me and others, as I see in the comments. I also like to read the comments and know what others think and feel. I'm open to consider new thoughts and ideas and keep seeking what I consider to be the truth as I live it. Thank you so much.
Love the logo, and again just so happy with the work you are doing. I read a comment recently that someone had converted to Christianity but exited within three weeks because of your videos😃

"Is God just a giant angry, distant meanie?" Well, he's omnipresent, so he's as big as it gets. He's supposedly intolerant of sin, and all of humanity is inherently, hopelessly sinful, so it would make sense for him to be triggered by that (especially since he can't admit it's his fault). Distant might seem contradictory to the omnipresent thing, but he's also spaceless, so he's _also_ as distant as it gets, despite being everywhere. He's also "wholly other" and beyond our comprehension, so he's psychologically distant too. As for being a meanie, I'll just cite the book of Job. I think that should do it.

As a Christian myself I don't believe in the concept of eternal conscious torment. It might be the current prominent belief within Christian circles on the ultimate fate of those who reject God, much the same way Arianism was once much more prominent than it is now. But I do believe that it's incorrect the same way Arianism was and is incorrect. Those like myself believe in what is known as "Annihilationism" or "Conditional Immortality," which are pretty much the same. We believe that those who end up in the Lake of Fire are going to be blotted out of existence. God is a God of righteous judgement. But He's also a God of mercy and He will show mercy even on those who reject Him by doing away with them completely, not leaving them to suffer for all of eternity. Despite how you may feel about Him, He would not do that to His creation. If you or anyone else here would care to learn more on this _correct_ biblical view of what the Scripture/Bible has to say on this matter I suggest starting off with *'The Fire That Consumes'* by Edward Fudge, R.I.P. ✝️
@@LennyCash777 That's a more ethical version of Christianity and shows better character for sure, but there are still many problems with it. It is still a very drastic punishment for a person's beliefs, which is something we actually don't have any control over. And a real God would be able to communicate such an important message in a far less ambiguous way.
@@LennyCash777 Two basic problems, I'll start with the least of them first: 1. Your bible doesn't say that. Christians since the Enlightenment have put a lot of effort into trying to make their god sound more humane (religions evolve in order to survive), but all of these ideas are just made up based on the original beliefs having become socially unacceptable. 2. Extermination may be more merciful than eternal torture - but I still don't see how exterminating people for not believing in exactly the right god in exactly the right way is somehow "just." We humans figured out freedom of thought in the 17th century...if that concept is beyond this god, then he/she/it needs to go.

A new logo? Looks good, but to be perfectly honest doesn't scream mindshift to me, but maybe I just need to get used to it. It's still certainly an improvement though, I do like it. It definitely can't be confused for anything else. EDIT: I now get it after the symbolism explanation! Yep, this is great, keep it this way!
@@MindShift-Brandon I just needed the explanation. Now I get the symbology I like it much more! I commented this before I watched the video, because it's the first thing I saw. So basically, it's a good logo, but not with the 100% easiest to get symbology.
The New Moon feasts involved the coming together of the Zakar (Phallus) and Nekebah (Vulva). There are many biblical names that begin with the P (Phallus) and one is Baal Peor aka Lord of the female opening.
I love your channel. I'm watching your secular Bible series and really enjoying it. As an atheist and secular humanist you're doing great work for freethinkers.
So which is it Christians? Is God this nebulous, timeless spaceless entity outside of the cosmos or is god this emotionally immature, needy brat with superpowers that throws temper tantrums when its human playthings don't do as it wants? Inquiring minds want to know.
To me God is the concept of perfect love. My desire for my life is to try to live up to that standard in order to attain Heaven. Heaven is the idea of a perfect world where everyone is happy and at peace. Suffering and punishment does exist in this world (e.g. sickness, death, pain, emotional distress). I don’t like it but I as a human don’t have the power to change the nature of life but through trying to do my part to make the world a better place, it gives me a reason to live and a hope that in doing my part, heaven will come to earth. I feel like many religious people and atheists attach anthropomorphic traits to concepts of things they can’t measure when arguing about religion and spend time arguing about these anthropomorphic traits and forget about the things they can see that tell of things that do exist when you believe in them. Love exists if you believe it to exist and if you believe it to exist then you can see its effects. Mind, I’m not a Biblical legalist- I don’t believe the Bible is a perfect word for word rule book given by an anthropomorphic supernatural creator (I grew up with many different versions and languages of the Bible so it’d definitely be hard to believe that for me) but I do believe the Bible is a collection of historical people’s lives and beliefs and contains some useful and interesting stories. It has to be read through the lens of love to use it as a moral guide, otherwise you get what unfortunately does happen- the various denominations arguing at each other about what rules written in the books that existed in ancient cultures they believe everyone should follow. That’s what I don’t like when religious people or atheists say ‘if you believe (abc) that means you HAVE to believe (xyz)’. I don’t think anyone can dictate someone else’s beliefs. One thing that did annoy me about a place I lived for a while as a teenager- they confiscated my book of Grimm’s Fairytales for it being ‘too dark’ but let me keep my Bible. I feel like the people who came up with that rule have never read the Bible! 😂
I have always thought it was contradictory to talk about the `wrath of God,` while also claiming that `Wrath` is one of the 7 deadly sins. Apparently not if God has it.
Nice logo!! LOVE it and the explanation. I’m 65 and I deconstructed on my own after over 30 years of Christianity and living in fear of hell. And when I left … I lived in fear of hell for a short while because I left. But something in my brain switched on and suddenly all my fear was gone. This was before UA-cam was a big thing. A similar event that happened in my brain around age 11 when one day, out of the blue, I thought to myself …who/what made god?
Thanks for giving the shout out to the artist who designed the logo. It’s always nice to see people not only hiring artists but also giving them a bit of promotion for work well done.
It’s funny how she thinks she has an understanding when if she actually followed her doctrine she wouldn’t even be allowed to speak on this whatsoever.
Such a misunderstanding of what those passages are actually saying. Especially since there's examples of biblical women speaking. Like Mary Magdalene, Anna the prophetess, Tabitha a disciple, Priscilla a teacher, etc. Women can spread the Word via disciple. They just can't be the ultimate leaders which is fine. I don't want that kind of responsibility, anyway. Good luck to you men out there!
@@xAaeiynxyou are still discriminating them wdym 'thats fine' 😂. I admit that it said they shouldn't speak in a church though not that that makes things less absurd
@@jojobizarrelivingstone594yeah “Christians” like that are the most insane. I can have respect for someone following their beliefs even when it’s hard for them. But people that say they believe something but skip over the stuff that inconveniences them? Those people are the biggest joke of all time
I can’t take apologist claims seriously, because the biblical supernatural assertions are indistinguishable from fiction. Why even bother to justify claims that are indistinguishable from fiction? Where is the supporting evidence for any claimed contact with god? How can Christians be sure that the claimants weren’t psychos?
Another very good and important video! I like your calm and fair way of refuting the arguments of the apologists. The more I study the Bible after leaving organized religion, the more I realize how little the most convinced Christians sometimes know the Bible. As you say in regard to good news / bad news.... the good ones they spread, the bad ones are not mentioned. A manipulation tactic that unfortunately works well. It's refreshing how you simply provide the counter-arguments in your calm manner. And in the meantime, when you bring up an argument (and I remember your video about it), you mention the video in the top corner. :)) That's fantastic, you've already discussed so many topics! You are already a wealth of knowledge for all of us - and heyy you have sooo many ideas for more topics! I'm looking forward to it! In this video I even had to giggle a few times. Great informative video!
I like your new logo very much, Brandon I’ve previously posted regarding my being into Star Trek - for me, the white squares represent the Borg-type thinking that is replete throughout belief systems: conformity, assent, submission - ‘Resistance Is Futile’ The colored, tilted square says, ‘ah, but Resistance Is Not Futile; Resistance Is Necessary’ I’d also say to this woman: ask the child cowering in a closet covered in welts from belts and electric cords, ears ringing from screamed insults - and I was one of those children - if wrath and anger are such wonderful things, especially when executed upon the helpless?
Appreciate this feedback about the logo. Resistance is Necessary is such a great line. And thank you for sharing, hate what this religion does to people.
The entire wrath of God never made sense to me, its like he can just turn off any emotion he has for you and then forget about you, I read somewhere that what psychopaths can do turn off any emotion they have like a switch! its like like he doesn't have to do this but he choses too, there are many way of justice, tormenting anyone forever is not one of them you can not be evil enough to deserve an eternity
right! And punishment without the purpose of getting the person to learn and move on is not just, it's simply cruel and sadistic. There's no point to it.
My dad one time blatantly said that you need to remind god of your good deeds before he kills you (he used king hezekiah and the prophet as the reference). I have no idea how he said that with a straight face
Here is evidence that Jesus was created through a sinful act: The story of the Nephilim/giants is perplexing. God punishes the angels that created giants, but then God comes up with a plan to redeem the world by using the same sinful strategy of having offspring with a mortal woman (Mary) to deliver the world from His wrath. So God and the angels both procreated with mortal women. This makes God a sinner; a transgressor, hypocritical.
If I'm not mistaken the church fathers came up with a loophole by deciding that Mary didn't inherit the original sin when she was born and didn't commit any sins throughout her life. No explanation of how this was possible. Another one of those "mysteries" I guess.
Reading the other comments, I'm glad to know I wasn't crazy about the logo feeling different lol Hard to say I like it more than the old one, but I'll probably get used to it over time EDIT: Nevermind, just heard the explanation behind the logo literally 30 seconds after writing this comment😂 Liking the logo a lot more now
Love, love, LOVE the new logo and the little animation on the corner of the screen at the beginning of the video 🤩 I was fond of the old one but this one is great and it definitely suits your channel. I'm really glad you managed to change it to something you liked and that still keeps some of the essence of the previous one 💯
Even when I was telling myself and others that I was a Christian I did not believe in hell. Or at least not as a punishment for 99% of what the Bible calls sin. If you're a professional torturer and voluntarily make others suffer the worst pain that can be suffered then yeah, maybe eternal damnation is warranted. But even then I have my reservations. Besides, I don't believe in free will, so ultimately I don't think anyone should be punished for anything. I have not figured out the details of how that should translate into our judicial system though, as removing punishment would probably still increase crime and that's a non desirable outcome.
I agree with you, I don’t believe in Hell as the idea of eternal torture after death. I don’t disbelieve it either as I’m not dead so I can’t really prove or disprove anything considered ‘afterlife’, it’s not a concept that has any value to me to hold in reality. But I consider the idea of created punishment at all to be immoral because it’s unhelpful. People create punishments as deterrents or revenge but created deterrents tend to lead to secretive behaviours to avoid punishment and lack of love/trust in the punisher. Revenge is sometimes a temporary relief for the punisher but it tends to lead to more bad feelings. I’m all for rehabilitation based legal systems and consequences that actually help the person find healthier coping skills to achieve their goal.
Christianity claims to be about truth, but that is a lie. It's about loyalty despite everything. I care about truth too much. Not so much about loyalty when people don't deserve it.
This is exactly the slave mentality that you were talking about in your last video. I'm a bit embarrassed that I never really saw it myself before. Pretty obvious now that I look at it. God is and has always been a gaslighting abusive parent. At best.
When I hear people like Melissa speak on the bible, I'm absolutely certain that they have never read that book in it's entirety. And how can they miss all the verses where god depicts himself as a petty tyrant? It would be like reading Gone With the Wind, and overlooking the parts about the Civil War
It makes me sick when these Christians project their own ideas of a loving God when, in reality, he is a literal nightmare with his eternal hell creation he sends people that doubt his existence after hiding from them.
Why doesn't anyone point out that Jesus's "sacrifice" is nothing but cope? Like your mesiah got arrested and executed? Oh year he totally meant to do that. It's part of his plan.
The origin of christianity quite possibly, the guy you devoted your entire life to just got gibbed, hmmmm shit, ok, um..... must have been the messiah!
“The fireman who is an arsonist doesn’t get the credit for putting out the fire he started” 🔥 That is one of the best quotes I’ve heard. I will be using it and giving credit where credit is due. 😮
I know you have a video about it, but the Christian god is a selfish narcissist who wants to be worshiped by his creation rather than wanting the best for them. People praise him and say "God is good" and ignore or justify all the times he causes harm. If a human exhibited the exact same traits and performed similar actions (bad, good, neutral), Christians would call them wicked. If I were the creator of the universe and human kind, I wouldn't care if I were worshiped, I would just want my creation to simply be good and kind.
@@crossroads8370 That would depend on what type of god I would be. Am I all powerful? Do I know the future at all times? As a good god, I wouldn't intentionally create humans to be capable of doing evil. The fact that they are doing so, means that I am not all powerful nor all knowing. In that case, I might use my limited power to encourage goodness. I would still love all of my creation, so if I were to punish anyone, it would only be in a way to hopefully change their actions or limit their opportunities to do harm. There is a chance that my actions could cause harm, so as a good, imperfect god I would learn and change tactics.
@@disneybunny45 Would you put death upon them as in growing old or other accidental death of what would happen to us in life? I don't really see normal death as being to harsh as long as the person doesn't suffer to much. But there would have to be death because they would become over populated very quickly. And would you give them a choice of eternal heaven or eternal nonexistence as options when they die? Or to be reborn back into the life they left in another body.

I explained that just two days before his passing we were talking about how we didn’t believe in a higher power. Meaning, if the Christian god is true, he would end up in hell. My catholic friend said “you don’t know that! We don’t know how god works.”

Just started watching your channel last month and I’ve already binged the whole secular Bible study series. I love your videos.
Thats awesome to hear! thanks so much for all the support.
Religions take our logical thinking from us. They blow everything off with faith and prayer. They do use fear that drags members in then disable them.
Privately, I thought, "Who talks to their children like this? You're teaching them to FEAR you, not LOVE you!" As we go through Yahweh's words in your Secular Bible Study videos, I can see the mold which crafted these parents, and their parents, and their parents. Yes, we get angry at our kids, but to threaten to torment them or k*ll them? Even in jest? Yahweh is definitely a product of our ancestor's primitive imaginations - along with all the other gods. Privately, I hope we take this deity and chuck him in the dustbin. To paraphrase Cosby: We imagined God into this world, and we can imagine him OUT!
yes, maybe we should stop looking to god as a parental figure to emulate.
I never had a close relationship with my parents due to fear of being ridiculed.
The mental chaos produced in children caused by replacing reality with bible stories is called "cognitive dissonance" which can be overcome with threats of eternal punishment.
Lovely post. It is like YHWH is a horrible sports parent yelling at their kid from the sidelines.
OT: In retrospect, maybe we should have taken Bill Cosby's "humor" about his childhood abuse a lot more seriously.
It is like an abused partner saying to people, "You never see them on their good days!"
100%!
I've witnessed enough abuse to see all the red flags in Yahweh. A true monster.
Exactly. This is one of the many reasons abuse victims STAY with the abusers.
They're not even _that_ self-aware. They deny that Yahweh ever even has bad days

The mob boss sends his goons around the city to spread his good news. “Tell them that we come with glad tidings. Give them an offer of protection. Inform them that If they comply with my terms, then they will get the best protection, since I am such a gracious guy and all.”
Goon number one commends the boss and acknowledges his worthiness for their compliance.
However, Goon number two turns his head slightly to one side and asks, “what are we protecting them from boss?”
The boss looks in a moment of stunned silence, “from me you idiot!”
Was goon number 2 actually Lucifer?
I remember the story of God knocking on the Door and from the inside asks, who is this ?

"We often see anger as a negative thing"
When the outcomes of said anger are consistently negative to the involved parties, yes, I would call it negative. To call it otherwise is to apply bias or skew the perspective. At that point, just call it whatever you want because its lost all meaning. Imagine having to jump through this many hoops just because your imaginary friend is, accurately, framed to be an asshole.
"The point of spreading the gospel is to save you from your sins"
You mean the sins God gave me because a dirt-man and a rib-woman were tricked by a talking snack in a magic garden to eat from a magic tree? All according to keikaku for God, he's all-knowing and perfect so this was preordained. Thanks, God, for putting me in this no-win situation that I didn't ask for and then making me climb uphill, ass first, just to have a chance to win. What a great guy.
"His rightful judgment against sinful humanity"
So, God created sin, then created humans to harbor sin just so he could rightfully be an asshole towards us.

The easiest tactic at a Christian’s disposal is to simply focus on the “nice verses” and to form their view on God’s character based on these.

Cherries are good 😊🤤😋
God is LOVE.

@frog4348 I have been getting on facebook posts from friends or conservative political groups to read the " ugly" verses.
😂 I'm picturing Ray's mother on Everyone Loves Raymond.. she says exactly that: "I do it out of love" 🎭

@CatDaddyGuitar perfect reply. Poor Mr. Gibson...he knows not what he sayeth.
God is love! And He is just. He hates sin and will punish it. Your only hope is Jesus! You need to stop quoting scripture as an ignorant twister of God's word. Go read it yourself instead of cherry picking something from the bible and then run your narrative as if you know what you are talking about. It blows me away that anyone can think Yahweh is good. Hope your spring is happy and productive, I'm playing catchup a bit after some time offline 😅
So glad to hear that, and thanks so much for being so involved in the channel. Appreciate you being here.
Exact same questions I keep asking.
Why does it all have to end in a catastrophe?
Why can’t this “god” all mighty and powerful just get rid of all evil. And we can all live in peace.

Thank you for that, and yes agree!

17:30 "the weakest points of man.....". Thank you, Brandon. I've wanted to hear this truth. I'll keep thinking 🤔

You're literally demonstrating not only your denial of history in denying philosophies not based on belief in any gods, but also your denial of philosophy today that is based on no reference to any god at all, and that includes science, which is a special form of "applied philosophy" employed to observe, study, and analyze detailed information about the world around us, which also is built without any reference to any gods.
And atheists "deny" the nonsensical Bible god exactly like you "deny" all of the 1,000+ other nonsensensical gods people have made up in all of the religions of human history.

And a real God would be able to communicate such an important message in a far less ambiguous way.
@@LennyCash777 Two basic problems, I'll start with the least of them first:
1. Your bible doesn't say that. Christians since the Enlightenment have put a lot of effort into trying to make their god sound more humane (religions evolve in order to survive), but all of these ideas are just made up based on the original beliefs having become socially unacceptable.
2. Extermination may be more merciful than eternal torture - but I still don't see how exterminating people for not believing in exactly the right god in exactly the right way is somehow "just." We humans figured out freedom of thought in the 17th century...if that concept is beyond this god, then he/she/it needs to go.

all persons on earth who honor and obey Jesus Christ as their loving, kind and merciful Master and Heavenly King
and believe his teachings too about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead"
as written in Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26
are clearly
the loving, kind, and respectful Followers of Jesus Christ on earth
who
can be trusted with anything and are worthy and deserving of the loving, kind, and merciful Creator's favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death
as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4
Jesus Christ KNOWS
that his teaching about the "RESURRECTION of the DEAD"
is
the Creator's guarantee that loving, kind, and respectful persons on earth who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, King David, his Followers and disciples, and many others
will
all be RESURRECTED back to life in the right and proper time so they can happily, abundantly, and peacefully live and exist on earth forever as citizens and subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD"
and fully enjoy his and the Creator's eternal love, kindness, goodness, generosities, compassions, favors, and blessings for eternity
under his loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.
I like the subtly, but thanks for the feedback and for being here.
Thats so lovely to hear. Thank you very much!
The puzzle pieces for me have finally fit together. Thank you for spelling this out!
so glad to help!
Apparently not if God has it.
we like the logo!!! 🎉 I used to watch Melissa , ready to tune in 🤓
Thank you!
Thank you!
Right. It's like Christian women, I'm going to need all of you to stay silent🤫 like your book and deity demand.
I said this to my mum and all of sudden she says 'we shouldn't follow everything paul says' cuz hes just a man and bla bla
Yes, the buck stops with God. God says the buck stops with him.
That's fantastic, you've already discussed so many topics! You are already a wealth of knowledge for all of us - and heyy you have sooo many ideas for more topics! I'm looking forward to it!
In this video I even had to giggle a few times. Great informative video!
such a thoughtful and encouraging comment. Really appreciate it!
New logo looks great! It kinda brings to mind the spinning floor tiles from Zelda that fly at Link.
I like your new logo very much, Brandon
I’ve previously posted regarding my being into Star Trek - for me, the white squares represent the Borg-type thinking that is replete throughout belief systems: conformity, assent, submission - ‘Resistance Is Futile’
The colored, tilted square says, ‘ah, but Resistance Is Not Futile; Resistance Is Necessary’
I’d also say to this woman: ask the child cowering in a closet covered in welts from belts and electric cords, ears ringing from screamed insults - and I was one of those children - if wrath and anger are such wonderful things, especially when executed upon the helpless?
Appreciate this feedback about the logo. Resistance is Necessary is such a great line. And thank you for sharing, hate what this religion does to people.
You expect apologists to abandon special pleading? You might as well ask them to cut out their own tongues.
The entire wrath of God never made sense to me, its like he can just turn off any emotion he has for you and then forget about you, I read somewhere that what psychopaths can do turn off any emotion they have like a switch!
its like like he doesn't have to do this but he choses too, there are many way of justice, tormenting anyone forever is not one of them
you can not be evil enough to deserve an eternity
Love the new logo!!! Still waiting for a bookshelf reveal haha 😂
Here is evidence that Jesus was created through a sinful act:
The story of the Nephilim/giants is perplexing.
Reading the other comments, I'm glad to know I wasn't crazy about the logo feeling different lol
Hard to say I like it more than the old one, but I'll probably get used to it over time
EDIT: Nevermind, just heard the explanation behind the logo literally 30 seconds after writing this comment😂
Liking the logo a lot more now
lol, fair enough.
@@MindShift-Brandon Nevermind on what I said, I literally heard your explanation for the logo 30 seconds after writing my comment😅
I have always thought: Why did God not forgive Adam and Eve 7X70 times as he requires us to do
Love, love, LOVE the new logo and the little animation on the corner of the screen at the beginning of the video 🤩 I was fond of the old one but this one is great and it definitely suits your channel. I'm really glad you managed to change it to something you liked and that still keeps some of the essence of the previous one 💯
thanks so much for this!
The new logo is great, fantastic video as always
Thank you!
Awesome logo n its significance, too!
Thank you much!
Not so much about loyalty when people don't deserve it.
well said.
Love the logo and the thought/symbolism. And yes I see it as a future quilt design. Really! You have the best set-up.
This is exactly the slave mentality that you were talking about in your last video. I'm a bit embarrassed that I never really saw it myself before. Pretty obvious now that I look at it. God is and has always been a gaslighting abusive parent. At best.
Thank you for this!
When I hear people like Melissa speak on the bible, I'm absolutely certain that they have never read that book in it's entirety. And how can they miss all the verses where god depicts himself as a petty tyrant? It would be like reading Gone With the Wind, and overlooking the parts about the Civil War
love that analogy.
It makes me sick when these Christians project their own ideas of a loving God when, in reality, he is a literal nightmare with his eternal hell creation he sends people that doubt his existence after hiding from them.
Great new logo Brandon =)
So Good To See You! hope you are well! and thanks
Perfect. Love the new logo. Great vid too. Keep it going, you are doing fantastic!
Thanks so much for all the constant support!
“The fireman who is an arsonist doesn’t get the credit for putting out the fire he started” 🔥 That is one of the best quotes I’ve heard. I will be using it and giving credit where credit is due. 😮
That logo would look awesome on merch like t-shirts, hoodies, and coffee mugs. Hint Hint.
Coming soon!
What would you do if some of your creation wasn't good or kind? But went around doing bad things and killing. How would you handle them?
Getting the good news from the same guy that gave you the bad news is called extortion and even the horrible sinful humans realize it's a crime.
