I can't imagine not learning research and academics but coding for 4 years. This already sounds so toxic and corporate-y. Coding is just an expression of thought, emotion and intention. If you know the fundamentals of Computer Science, learning to code is just matter of time and practice. Skipping the grandeur of Computer Science is like eating at McDonald's. You won't be hungry but it's not worth it.
