I grew up with the Glady and the Pip my favorite group.
I'm a TRUE old timer I'm 80 myself you forgot to mention she won the Ted mack Amentur hour in the 50's
I was a fan they were one of Motowns best groups Besides the Temptations, I admire their great talents and song writing abilities. They will always be remembered as being a great group.
They brought their fans so much joy
I loved them then and I love them now beautiful singers beautiful family nice memories .
I rember having a conversation with Melvin Franklin about the groups with the best coreography. He said besides the Temps there was the Vibrations and Gladys Knight and the Pips. After seeing both acts perform I had to agree. The first time I saw the Pips was at the Uptown Theater in Phila. They were announced, the band started playing and those three brothers came out and lit the stage up with their dance routines. You didn't notice Gladys had come on stage until she started singing! Man, what a voice. One of my all time favorite groupss.
Didn't they use to have a best group contest and Gladys and the pips use to win and win and win? Wil Someone back in time do some research and find out if this is true?

I loved listening to them all and hearing Gladys do the lead but I especially loved watching the Pips dance.

My first concert was Gladys Knight & The Pips, with the opening act being Jimi Walker; with my mom and dad @ Painters Mill!
I cut class at the University of Pennsylvania on a spring afternoon in 1966 to see them in a matinee show. It was somewhere up around 40th and Walnut I think. Perhaps a once Father Divine owned venue from the 1930's or 1940's? It seated around 1200 people or so. There were only about 100 people there. They came out and gave their whole show with everything they had! I was so impressed! The stage lighting was absolutely spectacular on her white dress with their black tuxedo movements behind her! One of the greatest things I have ever seen in my life! It was magnificent! Brings me great joy to remember it 57 years later now in 2023! It was magic!

I met Gladys Knight Piano Teacher her name was Ms. Hanley. She was a friend of my girlfriends Granny. And in 1984 I worked for a dentist name Dr Goolsby he were friends of theirs and Eleanor Guest would come there to visit the Dr and she told me William was her brother not her husband and they looked like twins so I believe he got it wrong that they were not married. May y'all continue to R I Peace.
Growing up listening to Gladys knight and the pips was one of my favorite groups they had so many great songs I love ❤️ all of them I am so 😢sorry that these guys have passed away to me the music 🎶 back then was so fantastic and when you listen to a song 🎧 it means something to days music really does have a meaning and back then these guys helped each other today some of these singing do not look 👀 out for each other some do but a lot of them do not

@1:17 I met William Guest at a Restaurant in Shelby NC . He was there with his Cousin Janice Barnet AKA The Queen of Beach Musician. He was a very cool and down to earth Guy.
Eleanor Guest was William Guest sister, not wife. Edward was not an original member he came in after Langston George left the group. The original members were William and Eleanor Guest, Gladys, Merald, and Brenda Knight and they were known as The Pips. You must do better with your research. I am William Guest daughter.

I can remember seeing Gladys Knight & The Pips at the old Circle Star Theater in San Mateo, CA. I was amazed at the choreography of the Pips especially William Guest. The vocal range of Gladys Knight was nothing short of amazing. In my opinion Gladys Knight was very underrated as a vocalist. In my opinion she was a better singer than Barbra Streisand, the gold standard of excellence.

I believe Katherine Anderson Schaftner of The Marvelettes has written the song "I don't want to do wrong", I remember the song very well because I was in Savannah Georgia visiting my Grandmother, BUT I didn't know the name of the song, I was just a toddler.
