Price to component quality ratio is abysmal but I like the game so I bought the better tokens which I feel are essential if you are going to play it a lot.
Thanks for the review Alex! Btw. the flimsy tokens can be cheaply upgraded with coin capsules :D Works a charme! Nicely tangible and no longer in danger of sticking together if you play a lot. They also still fit very well into the trays. Love the game :) PS: think the frontal camera tries to auto-focus a lot and might be better set to fix focus.
I really like this one. Beautiful table presence, fun strategy, and great replay-ability. The ani-meeples are adorable. Because of the slower start, we start with a couple less 1 power tokens so engines get going faster. I want them to release a new animal pack, namely turning the kickstarter animals into a new set of main scoring cards. Thanks Alex!
Just bought this one a few weeks ago because my wife thought the cover looked beautiful. Usually, that's not how I make game buying decisions, but "happy wife...". I, too, see the crossover between games like Dominion and Cascadia and enjoyed the gameplay. The components were printed on a thinner cardboard stock than what I'm used to from other games, so it feels kind of cheap. Oh well, if this game is a keeper, I'm sure better tokens can be found on Etsy. I've played this twice so far, once solo and once with my wife. She enjoyed the first play. As far as the solo, it doesn't have the same endgame trigger. Like solo modes in Ark Nova, Terraforming Mars and others, you have a round tracker. The AI has a bag of automa tokens that just takes items out of play for you (animals, scoring cards, waterfall points, etc). Once you get to the last round, game over, tally your points. The manual does have different scenarios that you're trying to score better and better in, and the scenarios just mix things up a bit and add some challenge. Still too early for me to rate, but for a game I bought sight unseen, having never watched a review or playthrough in advance, it was a pleasant surprise. If this is a keeper, maybe I'll let my wife make more "it's pretty" game buying choices.
We bought Life of the Amazonia after playing it at Dice Tower West and haven’t played it since. Wow! That feels like a long time ago. We need to get it back to the table ASAP!
This is one that I've had on the radar but also ive been interested in getting Orleons for the longest time. Im sure they are very different games but im kind on the side of ive seen enough nature and animal games for a bit. Either way i love your reviews and almost anything u do in your channel. Thanks so much for everything you do. 😊
I have this one. Really love it but components are a shame. The cardboard is so thin that I don't give a lot of lifespan for the game trays… I took the wooden components for the threes and so on, for the coin maybe I'll take the coin caps… still the game is very good but nitpick on the quality of the components really bother me for a game already quite pricey.
Thanks so much for the amazing review! 😍

Ya their games get expensive quickly. Retail is fine with me.

Lol that's how gaming sadly works

YOU ARE AWESOME! ❤❤❤
4:45 Ooh... So this game is kind of similar to Cascadia, correct?!
To an extent yes
