It's just like how Castle said, she was a mystery he was never going to solve. One of the biggest reasons he divorced his two wives as they were ordinary and other elements they haven't put in. Kate wasn't ordinary, she was different, it's what he wanted.

they do. the final scene is 7 years later, with 3 kids. originally it was intended to kill Beckett off but the show was axed instead. disappointing either way
