- I have set up 5 Che's that i found on youtube singing the same part of High Flying Adored. Feel free to debate but respect everyones opinions and don't start wars with each other. Its my first comparison i hope you enjoy.
No Contest ,,, Mandy Patinkin!
Mandy all the way -- and the best recording of your comparisons, too, in all fairness. Antonio gave a great performance, too; he "became" Che quite well and owned his role...
EnchantedCottage yes, much as I didn't want to see Madonna in the role, I thought Banderas was surprisingly good.
But AMadonna was wonderful
One of my favorite songs since seeing the musical as a child. I love Mandy and Antonio both, so different, but both so magical.
Antonio did it best. No one else did it like he can! Madonna had the girlish vulnerability that was sweet and showed Evitas uncertainty unlike Patti Lapone who shouts.
Whilst I love Mandy's voice, and Antonio's accent, I love the version by Ramin Karimloo best - a gorgeously rich acoustic version !!
No one beats the original. Saul Berenson! i mean, Inigo Montoya! no, i really mean, Mandy Patinkin.
Unfortunately you left out Raul Esparza's Che from 1999. which was as good as Mandy's, but in a completely different way.
David Essex!!!! OMG, that raw voice!!! Suits the character so well!
David Essex
Mandy. Absolutely, Mandy. Perfection.
Thank you for sharing these.
Each artist puts his/her own stamp on a role, as is evidenced here and as the producer/director envisions the role. I remember when Evita premiered on Broadway and Mandy Patinkin's voice was young and fresh and new. The interpretation of Che by Antonio Banderas was equally impressive, as was the rendition by the young men whose performances I did not get to witness.
Mandy. Wow, what a voice!
This is such a cool video! I’d never seen the concept album video before. Thanks so much for posting this!
Its a shame they didn't include Raúl Esparza, i thought his interpretation of Che was amazing, darker and less romanticised than Antonio Banderas.
Id also recommend Patxi Andión as Che in the spanish language version, its pretty amazing too.
Wow, Mandy is in a class by himself! Everyone else just seems flat.
Woah except for Colm Wilkinson of course
Mandy....Just perfect.
Saw Mandy sing it (and dance it). He blew me away as did the whole show.
I'm gonna go with the majority and say Mandy Patinkin. His rendition is gentle, like a lullaby. I like that.
No one gonna mention Colm Wilkinson?
I remember the 1976 concept album. CT was the best IMHO. As was Julie Covington, Their pitch-perfect performances are unbeatable.
No contest. Mandy.
Mandy's!
🙈 I’ve never understood the appeal of Mandy in this role. I prefer Raul Esparza :)
Antonio Banderas.
Mandy Patinkin... no doubt
Love Mandy but he's so high pitched. He makes the song seem campy.
In order of favourite to least favourite:
1. David Essex
2. Ricky Martin
3. Colm Wilkenson
4. Antonio Banderas
5. Mandy Patinkin
6. Branko Glad
Antonio Banderas of course...
Mandy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like them all.
Antonio
Antonio Banderas is my favorite, followed by Ricky Martin.
Antonio!!!!!!!!!!
Mandy Patinkin!!!
Mandy wins. Fatality.
Antonio
