[Verse] Has it really been that long? Did I count the days wrong? Did we just go 'round and 'round All the way to step one? [Pre-Chorus] They would ask me all the time Every time the show's up "So what you doin' with your life?" It ain't givin' up [Chorus] Just growin' up in stages (Lay down, low down) Livin' life in phases Another season changes And still, my days are shapeless [Post-Chorus] It's always drive straight, don't be late 'Cause time waits for no one I should be flying straight, with no delay 'Cause time takes from everyone [Bridge] I'm just laying here Waiting for a change to come Take us to the place Takin' us where we would have gone [Pre-Chorus] They would ask me all the time Showin' up in ages "So what you doin' with your life?" Call it givin' up [Chorus] I'm just growin' up in stages (Lay down, low down) Livin' life in phases Another season changes And still, my ways are aimless, I know We're growin' up in stages And I'm runnin' out of patience Growin' up [Outro] It's always drive straight, don't be late 'Cause time waits for no one I should be flying straight, with no delay 'Cause time takes from everyone
I wonder what would’ve happened if this song didn’t have meh reviews and press. People were pretty underwhelmed by the track and it shows because this sounds completely different to what the Slow Rush ended up being. Would’ve loved to hear what the album would’ve sounded like if the internet wasn’t so prominent in everyone’s lives.
Nahhh TSR had been in the works for a minute by this point, Kevin isn’t the type to change an album do to fan/media pressure. This was a stopgap song meant to placate fans who hadn’t heard a TI song since the B Sides from Currents dropped in 2017
idk, i personally enjoy this one. I love the message, the patience, to learn to take a moment in these trying times, you just gotta be patient to learn to like this song
This was magical for me when it came out, cos it was the first fresh Tame Impala stuff in nearly four years. Aged ok but yeah maybe Lost In Yesterday and Is It True still holding up better as big hits for me from The Slow Rush
Some songs were leaked and others were singles and got released earlier. I'm not sure which is for this song, but Slow Rush came out early 2020, with this song included

oh my god this version sounds like literal heaven
Great one, the slowdown really brings out the bassline and Latin beats of the bongo/ conga drums. Very Pet Shop Boys-ish. Superb!
Indeed, my friend! the latin percussion fits smoothly in it! hope Kevin uses it more often on the upcoming album!
Exactly!
This version is wicked, one of the best on my top 10 list
This actually sounds really cool slowed down. Almost has a vapor wave vibe..
This just hits different man....
I miss 2019
This song came up when I was chilling and I love it
Something brilliant about slowing down a song called patience
What an absolute masterpiece ❤

I hope this isn’t true because I absolutely adored this song when it came out.
