When I was 18, I stood outside a bank waiting for my grandfather to meet me, so that he could co-sign with me so that I could buy a car. Suddenly a couple of police cars came tearing up. They got out, held me at gunpoint, and proceeded to frisk me. I was wearing an overcoat, so in hindsight I can see how I might have made people nervous, lingering around outside of a bank. Regardless, I cooperated and it was over in a matter of minutes. No one shot, no one arrested, and they ultimately apologized. Point being, I am white and this stuff has nothing to do with race. Point also being, if you don't run, fight, and refuse to follow commands, you won't get shot.
I got stopped in front of a convenience store because the cop said I was suspicious and he thought I might be trying to rob the store. All because I pulled up and sat there a matter of 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Not sure what was going on but it was pretty f-ed up, IMO. All because I didn't immediately get out. 🤷♂️
I was 17-18 years old (can’t remember if I was a jr or sr in HS) and got pulled over heading home late, pretty close to curfew (I must have been 17) in my perdiddle vehicle. I thought I was getting pulled over for the headlight issue or for curfew. To my surprise i was being pulled over because I supposedly coasted through the stop sign, and then the officer saw my BB GUN in the trunk. (I had an old firebird with clear glass trunk) and then it was over. 6 units of which 2 were K-9 arrived as they said some young white kids were shooting at houses with BB guns in the area. I was on the hood of my car for a bit, FULLY COOPERATING, until it was determined that I was not the suspect because it was a pellet gun being used and not a BB gun. I was released and on my way. I should add that the police passed me and flipped around, I had my hat on backwards with the windows down and the music blaring with a broken pop up light. Moral of my lame story? I FIT THE DESCRIPTION! Cops aren’t racist. The USA is not systemically racist. People need to stop. I didn’t get killed or ruffed up by those cops not because I was white but because I DIDN’T RESIST and I didn’t try to run, act like a defiant little punk, and I didn’t try to grab the cops’ guns even though I was scared out of my mind. Cheers.
@@dcarts5616 Agreed. A few years back when I was 16, I got caught on the roof of a mall with my friends. I had a few grams of weed tucked in my underwear and it only would've taken a frisk for the cops to feel it and arrest me. They told us that security reported us as they thought we were planning a robbery since there was a broken vent up there that we could've crawled through to fall right into a store below us. On top of that, the weed smell was very noticeable and I was sure they were about to pat us down and take us in. They didn't, instead they gave us a "written arrest" that was apparently going on our record and we were free to go. Those cops knew we were just some dumb kids trying to get high and didn't want to ruin our lives over a few grams of weed. That changed my view on the police completely and to this day I have a great deal of respect for them.
I think the officer did a good thing speaking to her like that. He explained what he did but with affection. He gave her tough love she needed. He related to her on an even closer level bringing up the issues they both see in their communities. Idk about tasing necessarily but she definitely needed a lesson she wasn’t getting at home.
@@ralcogaming7674 Living in "black community " as an older white woman. Totally get that comment from the police officer. I get kids walking up to my front door begging for money if I say no they damage my home, steal from my yard. WTF... I'm JUST as poor! Cause I'm white I'm not allowed my little bit I have? @@lorireed8046 Kids being petty and dumb, I had two black kids kicking my school bus ride and throwing rocks at it. And man, as a kid, I was furious. The bus driver was chill and knew they were just kids looking for trouble. Some people's kids sucks!
Here’s my 10 cents on the tasing an 11 year old. 10 years of Police experience, also I’m a firearms and less lethal instructor. So I have a lot of experience with use of force policies and theories. As I do not think he should have tased a passive aggressive kid, lets look at the alternative. Dude weighed probably a good 200 lbs. Had he went hands on with the girl and she fought, it would have been a lot uglier after he had to escort her to the ground. It really was a lose lose for the officer when it came to the force he decided to use. As for all the comments he made. The officer appears to be a older veteran officer who has probably see a lot in his career, to include seeing kids her age killed or become part of the system. He probably came from the same community and this could have been his breaking point. Kids these days are becoming more aggressive with police because they think there are no consequences for their actions. Truth be told a taser can be used on anyone, except maybe a baby, tasing a baby would be bad. It’s 5 seconds of love and then its all over with, no real after effects. Beats the alternative of being forced to the ground or taking body strikes with an asp or fist. I’ve been tased, and I’ve had some very physical DT training. I’ll take the taser any day over physical force.
surfingfl897 honestly, I feel prosecutors & judges should turn a blind eye if LE ends up whooping a kids ass. 90 some percent of them don't have their fathers around to teach them about consequences for their actions and an ass whipping could go a long way to straightening their sorry asses out.
Wylted 1 well I'm guessing you didn't steal then run from police at 11, so I think it's entirely different. Judging by the fact she commited the crime, ran off, and comes from a bad neighborhood, she would most likely resist. If she resists, he has to use physical force, which lead her to cry, her crying or even if she doesn't leads to idiots yelling police brutality. It was a lose lose situation.
surfingfl897 only it’s not just 5 seconds? Depending on where you land you could end up incredibly messed up. Also the fact that you made it seem like the only options were tase her or beat a 11 year old girl on the ground is just hilarious

Yeah, I was parked in front of the bank before work. It wasn’t open yet. I fell asleep. When I woke, it was open and I went in, wearing my painter’s outfit. I was fit (not anymore! Now I’m fat) my van had no windows. The week prior, a neighboring bank had been robbed at gun point, I asked the security guard, “how you doing? What do you do in situations like that.” He chuckled, “Funny you ask, I don’t want to make people nervous talking about this. Let’s go out here.” And led me outside answering my question and asking me why I was there. We talked for about 2 minutes. Just then, two cop cars pulled up and all four cops had their guns drawn, pointing them at me. The security guard quickly dropped back. I put my hands up asking, “Well, hello and how can I help?” They didn’t issue any commands and the security guard said, “He banks here.” A few minutes later it was sorted out. I’m white and almost got shot. I’m convinced, if I had mouthed off, I’d be dead. These boys weren’t interested in negotiation. The robbery the week prior left one of their tellers dead. Do what you’re told Be respectful. That’s the best strategy for getting out alive. Yeah, I almost shit my self and told the security guard. He laughed and let me use their bathroom. I think that’s a first. 😂 He probably felt bad.
GREAT example of what happens when a black suspect followes commands, even though he knows he's right, and let's the police do their job. He doesn't get shot, hurt, arrested, he gets an apology, explanation, and sent on his way.
there was an episode of cops where the cops pursued a vehicle. one black dude the passenger got on the ground as soon as the car wrecked and had his hands up behind him and let himself be cuffed. the other black dude the driver ran and got his ass whopped and put in jail for various crimes. the passenger was calm and let go since he was innocent and just had the bad luck to get a lift from wanted criminal in a stolen vehicle. he even said he understood why the cops had their guns out and put him in cuffs. he wanted the driver to stop and surrender once he realized that the cops were pursuing the car.
I was detained in the same manner under similar circumstances. A person called to report a white kid in baggy clothes was stealing computer equipment. Yes I was a white kid (well technically, I'm a gay jew). Yes I was wearing baggy clothes. The only deal was I had bought the computer equipment in question. Law enforcement responded by performing a felony stop and had me handcuffed and detained for about ten minutes. I am grateful (I even told them this after they let me go) that they followed up on that phone call with extreme caution, because it shows they are still taking every reports of burglary, robbery, and suspicious activity (whether credible or not) in a manner that keeps them, an the public, safe.
It's almost like the only people who did anything wrong in this whole situation where the police. And that it's not a matter of fact that they didn't do their job. @Wylted 1 So is it still wrong to punch a woman now? I really think you're underestimating what a knife can do. All that matters is where you get slashed/stabbed and you could be dead. Strength isn't important in that regard. On a very very basic level perhaps but who are you even defending in this situation? You certainly aren't taking your own personal safety seriously. I don't see any reason to be more concerned for your attackers safety in this context. At its core, morality is complicated. Very rarely are there general guidelines that always apply. There is a context where you defending yourself from a woman isn't wrong. Its important to recognize that for your own safety.

The black cop lecturing the 11-year-old delinquent may have been politically incorrect with his comments, but he was 100% spot on morally correct. I bet the majority of black people, most of them decent and law-abiding, without decent stores in their communities, are just heartsick knowing the real reason why that is the case.
"I bet the majority of black people, most of them decent and law-abiding, without decent stores in their communities, are just heartsick knowing the real reason why that is the case." Oh, my sweet, naive child. You have so much to learn.
This is why I hate visiting my family in Parkville MD. It wasn't the best neighborhood when I lived there 16 years ago, but it's as the officer said in the last clip "this is why (businesses) don't come here." People are just looking for the easiest way to get money and while I was studying to be a social worker, I learned many people game the system. One case had been someone who sold food stamps to buy things, lived with her "boyfriend" who made ok money and she never did a thing for herself. There was no food in the house, but the kids weren't starving because she fed them cheap garbage food (md ds and other fast trash).
Normally when kids shop lift it is for the parents. My business has this occur regularly and the parents wait around the corner then plead ignorance once the child is caught.

I disagree. She was attempting to stay in her car. She wouldn't let go, and the officer just pulling on her wasn't doing any good. The punch did the trick, and she let go. He could've tried to tase her but who's to say that would've worked. By the time he got his taser out (if he even had one!) She could've been back in the car and drove away. When someone is resisting arrest, officers need to do whatever is necessary to get the situation under control. Now if she would've been COOPERATING and he punched her, THAT would be excessive force. Just my opinion.
Juvenile delinquent shoplifts, runs, gets a reasonable talking to by the police who try to teach her a lesson. Parents sue the Police station. #ThisIsAmerica
The black officer telling the black girl "this is why there are no grocery stores in black neighborhoods" is relating to he as a black person. And he is right. Stores cannot afford to be robbed everyday. Tasing her maybe a little close to the edge but I would have done the same. Those kids can run like rabbits. Good job officer! This has to stop somewhere. Letting her run away just adds to the problem.
Kroger built a big (state of the art) grocery store, in the West side of Dayton Ohio. This is primarily a "minority" neighborhood, and was in response to community leaders complaints about "not having access to a grocery store locally, due to racist attitudes". The store opened to much fanfare, and closed several years later after suffering incredible levels of vandalism, poor customer behavior, and stock loss due to shoplifting. Since then Aldi's has gone through the same experience with the same results. The sad part is that the majority of shoppers that are law abiding and considerate, will have to make long drives (if they're fortunate enough to have a car) or suffer an arduous bus trip to obtain groceries. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS! (The ghost of my mother wanted me to include that)
@@karlhombaker9913 It's not race. It's a group of people acting like violent, inconsiderate, thuggish animals and forcing their peers to *be complacent* with that situation. You only need look closer to see that some individuals do thrive in that environment and actively work to keep it as it is. Either profiting from the crime, or teaching families (through force if necessary) that things have always been that way, things will never change, get used to it, etc.The sad truth is that it only takes such a portion of a community being like that for the rot to contaminate and spread that kind of thinking to its members. It's sad that due to circumstances, that kind of group thinking has struck and continues to strike so many culturally-tight communities (either by color, origin, etc.). Certainly it isn't only a matter of thought. With the ensuing actions, the negative consequences and buildup of a toxic environment begins to pile up. For instance, you can't act or speak out against drugs. Drug dealers are dangerous and likely to just outright kill anyone who makes too much noise in the community, just to have an easier time operating, making drugs are more readily available. And then proceed to ruin the lives of more people in your community through addiction. It's a self-sustaining cycle. Good-willing, good-intentioned members with fresh new minds in the community are sucked in by it and have a very hard time fighting it or escaping it, either being opressed, riduculed or silenced. Until the problem is tackled at the source, with rock-solid EDUCATION and PROTECTION to the children of the community from a very young age all the way into adulthood, I don't see the cycle ever being broken. If a child does not feel safe to call out on a fellow child of the same age for bad behavior, call out on a colleague that shoplifting is wrong while KNOWING that their peers wil back them into that call, they simply won't do it. It's a survival instinct. Would /you/ call out on a friend that hit another while knowing that 90% of your peers will either bully you or beat you up? I wouldn't. It then escalates to drugs. Shoplifting. Burglary. Eventually someone getting shot. One becomes desensitized to all of it and silently suppressed, it's plain dangerous to try and voice anything different...

Funny, I've been in a debate with a friend on FB for two days over the grandson incident. My friend insists 1) it was a Fourth Amendment violation for the cops to detain the guy without probable cause because it was an unreasonable seizure of the suspect (I explained the concept of reasonable suspicion, but it didn't take). 2) He claims that it's illegal for the cops to have their guns out,, cuff someone and put him in a patrol car before asking any questions of the people involved just because somebody made a "complaint." I tried explaining why it was a felony/high-risk traffic stop and why they're done that way- I even quoted from the Wikipedia article on traffic stops- he still insists it was illegal because the cops hadn't "investigated" yet.. He says that the cops shouldn't have drawn their guns at all, that the most the cops could legally do was ask the guy to step out of the car and start asking him questions before finding enough probable cause to handcuff or detain him in any way. Nothing I say is making a dent, because he "knows the law!". Riiiight.
@@The_Friendly_Fire He's more willfully blind than an idiot. But yeah, I tried explaining that. No dice, of course. Apparently I'm wrong, the folks in the thread who agreed with me me are wrong, the cops I asked about it were wrong, everybody's wrong, cause he knows better. :P
So, the next time somebody reports a violent crime in progress, they should just ignore it so as to avoid being accused of racism or over reacting? I would much rather have my "mixed race" son removed from my vehicle (he WILL listen to commands, and comply) than to have my wife be "car jacked" and have everybody ignore it.
Just put it to your friend as if it was a real situation where his grandmother was being carjacked and how he would want the police to react ,because in reality if those two women were being carjacked all race aside one they probably wouldn't have stopped for police because the person robbing them would have threatened them to go or they were going to be hurt normally in that situation and two the person probably would have ran. The fact that they were told by a black couple about a black young man not a child like they portrayed , just goes to show you that even other African Americans don't trust other African Americans specifically males. The officers were flagged down by an African American couple man and woman then told that " the young black man in the back seat was robbing two white women in a Lexus" so does that still make it racial profiling if they're both black the complainant and the victim . Just asking because the ass hat recording keep stating it was racial profiling and that the officers that stopped were racist even though it was a black complainant on a young black male
It is so hard to find people who can speak on controversy without showing bias or being immiture, i am so glad people like you are still around to have coherent discussion.
You spoke my opinion exactly.. why on Earth children 11 years old and possibly younger out alone running around through this grocery store with zero parental supervision. Both of my children are grown and married, but when they were that age and with me, not their Dad (which even then I really knew where they were) I always knew my kids whereabouts. I think this is a major part of today’s failing society.. almost no one knows what a truly happy family is, where mom actually takes time with and care of her children and family.
I understand that there are differences between communities, trust me. We spent nearly 20 years of my Children’s life on Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta. I now live an hour outside the city just outside Carrollton, a small University community. I love it out here. I’m probably 20 minuets from the nearest police station, but I bet I would still get help faster than I ever did in Atlanta! Point being, even in downtown Atlanta, where we lived in a high rise, my kids stayed home after school where my husband could watch them until I got off. Then I would usually get them out of the house.. whether that meant walking across those 6 lanes to Starbucks, to Coldstone, Planet Smoothie, or just browsing through the many awesome high end little shops. We would generally end with Publix and picking out what we wanted fresh for dinner, then we would walk home and I would cook dinner, while they sat at the bar finishing their homework or going over anything they needed help with.. so I suppose I could have done like some other Mothers and just let my children run wild.. I chose to try to keep them happy and active with me.
you kinda cant win, if you taser the kid people will yell at u for that and if u go hands on they will complain how brutally the officer handled a poor little 11 yrold
Give me a single lawful reason why she'd want to get back in the car after being ordered out and failing to comply, to the point he starts dragging her out. Just one. Literally anything that I can think of gets nullified by the probability that she's trying to get away. Either flooring the gas, or picking up a gun to neutralize the police officer before he's able to call for backup, or some other dangerous way. Regardless of guilt, creed, color, favorite ice cream flavor... Her behavior is basically a threat at that point, either of initiating a dangerous chase and risking harm to the whole community, or grave harm to the officer. Yes. Force was justified.

I think your opinion is spot on with this one sir. Now for my opinion, I think instead of "being paid" as they call it. The mother should be arrested and charged with child neglect/child endangerment. I mean these days especially with all the child sex trafficking/abduction going on, why wouldn't you keep a close eye on your daughter? Maybe then that young lady could be fostered by someone that would give her a fighting chance in life.
My mom always said to me even when I was that young that if I was old enough to think I could get away with stealing then I was old enough to face the consequences if I got caught. My mom also worked in a grocery store out in the ghetto. She was nearly robbed at gunpoint the day she quit at that grocery store. There IS a lot of crime happening in those places. Nobody wants to set up shop where they know they're likely to be robbed. Interesting that the 18yr made it out alive even though he was black. It is almost like it was as if staying calm, complying and listening to police instructions lead to a conversation and an immediate de-escalation of the situation when dialogue happened between police and his grandmother and they got the story. They even got a calm explanation of the situation and a legitimate apology while suffering no physical harm. The white girl resisting arrest got what she deserved plain and simple. She broke the law driving without a license and then resists arrest and technically if she got in the car to flee would have been guilty of a felony at that point. So yeah a punch in the face to distract and disarm before a straight arm takedown is perfectly fine. That's just basic self defense on the officers part and resisting arrest is a fight she instigated. The 11yr stuff. I agree that the taser is a bit much. But if he take her down physically I honestly think there would have been more backlash of a grown man laying hands on a 11yr girl for stealing $53 worth of stuff. Let's be honest here. If he swept her feet and she fell or tackled her to the ground and hand cuffed her the public would have lost their shit anyway. The taser seems extreme, but he didn't have to physically strike the girl to get her to stop. There could have also been the opportunity of allegations of him sexually contacting her if he took her down physically. Sadly the taser was probably the best choice even though it seems so extreme.
where are the charges for filing a false report? magically the cops don't know the names of those supposed witnesses, funny how that works, the cops can make all the claims they want, buit never have to prove their version of events, newsflash the cops can and will lie, alter, destroy or fabricate evidence, see Brady V Maryland

As for the 11yr old girl being tased. Maybe the officer tased her because he's 55yrs old and wasn't sure of his physical ability to catch her and go hands on. That's really the only thing I can think of because the officer seems to be someone who thinks about public relations.

I’m here a year late, but I’m pretty sure she knocks him in the face as she gets out of the car
That changed my view on the police completely and to this day I have a great deal of respect for them.

or if the one that tased her was white.
It was a lose lose situation.
surfingfl897 I bet the mom sent her kid
surfingfl897 only it’s not just 5 seconds? Depending on where you land you could end up incredibly messed up. Also the fact that you made it seem like the only options were tase her or beat a 11 year old girl on the ground is just hilarious

Yeah, I was parked in front of the bank before work.
It wasn’t open yet. I fell asleep.
When I woke, it was open and I went in, wearing my painter’s outfit.
I was fit (not anymore! Now I’m fat) my van had no windows.
The week prior, a neighboring bank had been robbed at gun point, I asked the security guard, “how you doing? What do you do in situations like that.”
He chuckled, “Funny you ask, I don’t want to make people nervous talking about this. Let’s go out here.” And led me outside answering my question and asking me why I was there. We talked for about 2 minutes.
Just then, two cop cars pulled up and all four cops had their guns drawn, pointing them at me. The security guard quickly dropped back.
I put my hands up asking, “Well, hello and how can I help?”
They didn’t issue any commands and the security guard said, “He banks here.”
A few minutes later it was sorted out.
I’m white and almost got shot.

There was no food in the house, but the kids weren't starving because she fed them cheap garbage food (md ds and other fast trash).

The same people that yell “Punch Nazis” also say that police officers can’t “punch suspects”. Using strikes to handle and control a situation isn’t allowed, but assaulting people because of their opinions is allowed, apparently.
I mean I support the punching of Nazis. Only actual Nazis though. Not just whoever people feel like calling Nazis.

Sounds like a shitty friend.

Melissa Spake its a different world in some places.

I bet she won't be stealing anything any time soon though, so I guess there's that side of it hahah

First clip: would LOVE to see the whole interaction from the beginning. Second clip: the very first thing that crossed my mind was "WTF is a is an 11 year old girl doing out that time of night??" I think your opinion is spot on with this one sir.
When I first heard the story about that girl I wanted to assume that guy was a racist prick, but seeing that footage he kinda has a point. Although I don't think he should have tazed a girl he could have taken in without doing so.

As a kid about 4 or 5 I stole a small rubber shark because I asked my mom if she'd buy it for me. She said no.
These days the police haters usually say that shop lifters should be free to go and not arrested.
where are the charges for filing a false report? magically the cops don't know the names of those supposed witnesses, funny how that works, the cops can make all the claims they want, buit never have to prove their version of events, newsflash the cops can and will lie, alter, destroy or fabricate evidence, see Brady V Maryland
