    Very nice video. Thank you.
    Honestly, for anyone who is a musician, or who "feels" the music with any sensitivity, it's too important that
    instruments are in tune. And of course if you are going to play it along with other instruments....a must.
    For a kid wanting to just bang around, or even an adult who isn't really into music so much as wanting something
    unusual to play around with, the cheaper pans are clearly worthwhile.
    But again, anyone doing sound healing or any sort of critical listening music, I think the cheaper ones, just like with any
    instrument, will end up being disappointing and not really a saving in the long run.
    Speaking as a musician who has indeed experienced disappointment with cheaper instruments. ❤🎶

    I really appreciate the side-by-side comparison. You make both of them sound really good compared to what I'm able to bang out at this point, but I can hear the subtle differences. I bought a higher priced As Teman a year ago and just now having the time to play it. I'm not a "musician" but some of the notes don't feel in tune. Until I watched your video, I thought I was either imagining things or was just a crappy player. Your video demonstrates how tuning is so critical. It bothers me enough when I try to play notes close together that I'm going to get a more expensive one that has more careful tuning. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!

    Thank you for the explanation! I was looking into it for the present for my father, because he wanted it. I’ll definitely go with 3rd gen handpan.
    Once again, thank you. And you have a beautiful smile!

    You’ll want a stainless steel pan … the two best pans I have that I use for mediation gigs are made by Axiom Handpans and PanSmith Handpans…and they are forever pans ..l will never need to upgrade. Look for a lower Celtic scale… either a D Minor, C# Minor, or B Minor … know that you get what you pay for, so it’s always best to save a little more and get the better pan. As expensive as they are, you want to LOVE your pan, because if you love it, you’ll play it every day… 🤗🛸🎶🦋

    I'm wanting to buy my first handpan (I have a handmade tongue, but the harmonics are horrible to be honest). The problem is I can't find anywhere to play one to see how they sound in person. (Any idea how I'd go about finding someone local with a pan?) At least you've shown me that a $600 pan gives a reasonable sound.
    Thanks so much for the side by side.

      Glad to help! As far as someone local, there are a few handpan groups on Facebook and they're generally cool groups of people. If you post your general location and that you want to try some out you might be surprised how many people would be happy to help you 😊

      @@-joltrast ….For down the road, know that a RAV Vast will play beautifully with a Handpan in either the same or a compatible scale. I have the RAV Vast Bm Double Ding which I play with a BM Celtic Handpan… The two together play so meditatively that it’s crazy… 🤗🛸🎶🦋

      Since this was asked a year ago, you may well already have solved this. But in case not, you might try going to
      "didge project" on line. It is a company in NY and they have tons of excellent demos on all sorts of pans and
      healing instruments. I purchased a number of Rav drums from them and they are excellent to work with.
      I have both pans and ravs, and find the rich, depth of sustain on the Ravs unbeatable as a soothing, healing
      instrument.

    I purchased the cheapest Handpan I could afford from Asteman. I have a few vids on my page. In some ways I regret not saving up a bit more, as the dissonance breaks me a little. Still, It's a great Entry level handpan, until I save for a something better :-)

    Do you know where these can be taken to be retuned if they fall out of tune in the years to come? I listened to so local hand pan makers that say they will not tune cheep pans.

    • @PandoraPantam
      @PandoraPantam Рік тому

      No one tunes these. They are both crap unfortunately. And not worth the effort either

    • @mothersgauri4137
      @mothersgauri4137 Рік тому +1

      Doubt you will find anyone who would tune a cheaply made pan. Pans made by good reliable makers /dealers will
      generally stand by their instruments and help out on the retuning. However, a good instrument, treated well,
      really should not go out of tune.
      Bottom line I guess is that we get what we pay for.

    Fantastic video. To tell you the honest truth... I do like the more expensive one better... but it's not a massive difference (especially when listening in context to itself vs side-by-side). If you were playing the two on the street, I don't think anyone would be able to tell a quality difference (BTW, I am listening on KRK monitors). In the studio, I'd definitely pick the darker one... no contest. The bass notes are a bit cleaner and it seems to have a magical ring to it (probably the harmonics you mention) that's missing on the other, but again... I'm not sure you'd notice that w/o the side-by-side context. Needless to say... like all instruments... you pay a lot for that little extra. :-)
    BTW, when I looked at the thumbnail for this vid I was like... what the heck? Did Molly grow a couple extra arms or is she doing a Kali impression? Ha ha.

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  3 роки тому +1

      Haha, yes I love the Kali arms 😂 I completely agree - not different enough to tell in a busy environment, but enough that if you're really wanting a high quality instrument it might bug you occasionally. I would have been fine forever with the $600 instrument 😅
