EAST VILLAGE is a neighborhood on the East Side of Lower Manhattan in New York City. It is roughly defined as the area east of the Bowery and Third Avenue, between 14th Street on the north and Houston Street on the south. The East Village contains three subsections: Alphabet City, in reference to the single-letter-named avenues that are located to the east of First Avenue ; Little Ukraine, near Second Avenue and 6th and 7th Streets; and the Bowery, located around the street of the same name.

I used to live on East 7th Street right across the street from the Ukrainian church by a tiny side street called Taras Chevchenko. I remember the feeling of self expression there, like everyone was just doing their thing! There is nothing like the East Village

When I'm in Brooklyn visiting family, I always go to the neighborhood park. I never see girls, teenagers or adult women playing basketball. I asked a teenage girl why she and her friends didn't play basketball in the park?????. 😳😜. Next time I will buy a basketball and play and show them how this grandmother still has the moves. 😊😮. I was an excellent basketball player as a teenager and I'm the same size and I'm still good😅. ❤
