      В интервью она рассказывает, что не было перелома в этом выступлении. Перелом был в другом моменте. Что режиссёры от себя выдумали многие моменты в фильме. И перелом тоже вставили в это вуступление.

    As a casual viewer, I found it technically proficient, but lacking emotion. Maybe that's the "Russian" style vs. "American"? Or maybe it was the role and/or choreography. Not sure...

    I respect Joy's incredible drive and accomplishment as a dancer, of course. Amazing.
    But I just have not yet felt a connection to Joy's dancing. A lack of bravura, or interestingness or something. There's something about her port de bras that I just dont think is great. I dont think she's quite equal to the Russian ballerinas. But she has alot of time to evolve and I'm sure she will. Still, her dancing of course is very beautiful.

    Well done here. But, jeopardize her chances? Hardly. She spoke honestly about something she felt was wrong, and she obviously had the option to conform and stay at Kremlin, but felt that it would be healthier for her happiness (and career trajectory) to go to Korea. Not only was the company vibe something that left much to be desired, she obviously decided that she had gotten all that she could from what they had to offer. Nothing wrong with a dancer seeking new opportunities - BS about loyalty in a world where dancing jobs are narrower than anything is not realistic. Not only is she getting to dance roles like Giselle, but she is also able to get a fresh start after what looked like a stale couple years.

      Norma I feel you are too front and center with your displeasure with Joy - a person who has hopes for Joy would not put endless comments describing things that may not be true - reminds me of the youtube channels who post things just to get reactions but no facts to back them up. And to keep spreading it around posting on all her videos - makes no sense to me - I have seen your comments and know the wording - you certainly are not a fan of Joys - take a look at what you are doing before you reprimand Joy for her attitude.

    • @normamimosa5991
      @normamimosa5991 6 років тому +5

      Everything I have said is true. You are right, I am not a fan of Joy's behavior. Far from it. I admire her tenacity to get up after a fall. I admire her drive and have spoken often about her talent, improvement and potential.
      If she puts herself out there for the world to see, with controversial commentary, then it would be fair to say she should expect what comes back -- positive and negative.

    American ballet dancers alway read to me like musical perormers. Let's be honest, Joy wouldn't be traditionally selected to be a student in a ballet school in Russia. So of course she felt like odd one out. She thought hard work and perfect technique could get her a prima role in Russia. That doesn't work like that in Russia. Perfect bone structure, talent and only then hard work and perfect technique what makes Russian ballerina a prima.

      Her legs are perfectly proportioned. She has a very feminine and youthful shape. Some ballerinas have overly long legs and short torso's, that is in my opinion quite ugly, and i would think limits appropriateness for roles. A taller ballerina also looks older and less fresh, looks out of place playing a young teenage girl, such as many of the classic ballet roles call for, especially if the man is shorter or just as tall. Some ballerinas out there are so unnaturally stretched out, have such overly long legs and necks that they look like they have some sort of syndrome. Bottom line? Beauty is ultimately in the eyes of the beholder.

    She did so well here, with all her Russian training, along with Russian coach. Sorry she jeopardized her chances in Russia with her inappropriate public comments and behavior. The Universal Ballet, although it has made great strides, just is not on the same level as her chances could have been in Russia.

      Norma Mimosa Young people say and do things-not realizing consequences may be higher than the price they thought they would pay. She went out on her own at a very young age, most kids would still be at home getting guidance. I think she is settling into things better and is more at peace. Hopefully one day the Russian stage or a larger, i mean no disrepect, more influential ballet companies will open their doorsp to her and allow her to shine as she was meant too be.

      @Beth Cooley -- I have followed Joy Womack for years and been horrified by her inappropriate comments. Towards the end of her time in Russia, it wasn't only inappropriate comments, but also inappropriate behavior towards her company. I believe her leaving the Kremlin was not entirely her own choice. I believe it was a mutual decision, based on the administrators and coach no longer accepting her behavior. I emphasize that is an assumption, but a pretty good guess, as she had just finally received her Russian residency after going through many hoops and then had to go job hunting. She talks about being horrified about how others at the Kremlin were talking about her; however, when publicly calling her partner a drunk, bad mouthing the piano player, publicly blaming one of the principals for injuring her foot, telling the world how bored and unchallenged she was, creating a private schedule that did not fit around the company schedule, etc. are hardly conducive for good work relationships.
      She would have to be spectacularly good for a top Russian company to invite her in. It will never happen. There are corps members of the Mariinsky, Bolshoi and Mikhailovsky who are better than she is. The Mikhailovsky originally accepted her, but she turned them down. I don't think they will come calling again. Their principal roster includes the best dancers in the world, and I don't see Joy accepting a lower status.
      I have spent much time praising her dancing -- the huge improvement -- and have been bashed for doing so. Each time I have praised her, she has gone on to do something inappropriate. So after a while, one doesn't feel like going to bat for her.
      I greatly admire the initiative and courage it took to go to Russia as a young teen. I also admired her ability to pick up after a crisis (of her own making) and land on her feet again. I agree. She probably didn't receive adequate guidance, whether from her parents or others; however, she is an intelligent girl. Eventually, we learn by osmosis and become fully responsible for our actions.
      Frankly, I think she has jeopardized her chances in Russia for ever. Very sad. She has also most likely jeopardized her chances at most large companies in both Europe and North America. No large company will risk hiring her because of her behavior (versus ballet skills).
