Very good , Mr. Costner! You brought some decency to the ceremony. I know a little story about you……my cousin was ding from a brain tumor since she was 3 years old. She was in her teens when she knew she was dying. Kevin Costner met her and her parents at the Lis Angeles Airport with a bouquet of roses…..and for two days wined and dined them and made life very special for her. When she was 19 she finally passed. At her funeral they had a large framed picture if Kevin Costner standing by her casket. That Make A Wish was very important to her and her family until the day she died. Good job, Mr. Costner. Thank you!

I truly hope that these icons, such as Kevin Costner keep on participating in The Oscars. Kevin Costner met her and her parents at the Lis Angeles Airport with a bouquet of roses…..and for two days wined and dined them and made life very special for her. When she was 19 she finally passed. At her funeral they had a large framed picture if Kevin Costner standing by her casket. That Make A Wish was very important to her and her family until the day she died. Good job, Mr. Costner. Thank you!
Wow, just when I think I’ve heard of many good deeds Mr Costner has done, i read this. He is such an all American kid who grew into his fathers shoes. William Costner has to be watching from heaven and very proud of his good, humble, generous, kind and well mannered son🌹🙏🏼

Not in Budapest, but not far from it is a village (its definition: not yet a city, but no longer a village) The point is that it is a very beautiful and happy, peaceful place. By bus approx. I can be in Budapest in 1/2 hour! The transport is very good, although I rarely travel these days.

I had to go back and truly put attention to what Kevin said, because of the previous incident I don't think registered the proper way with many people, it is very thoughtful, cames across as a confession from someone who loves what they do. Can't recall this category to be presented in such a humble way ever before and only to introduce it to the great Jane Campion. Respect
Unfortunately she replied with absolutely no class, I was very disappointed in her..

In retrospect, Costner was one of the few, if not, just the only one who addressed the influece/power of films and that right now the medium is at stake.

I truly hope that these icons, such as Kevin Costner keep on participating in The Oscars. The Oscars need to be revamped and polished as in the days of Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Sidney Poitier, Elizabeth Taylor and the list goes on. This is why the ratings are so low. There are tremendous things for the the academy to reevaluate on decorum, honor and good taste.

@@kate3024 oh I think a lot of them write notecards, especially the non-actors - or sometimes just names of people they CANNOT forget to thank. I was glad to see a woman win (I think only 2 have EVER won) so I understand that part. Plus, lots of them do have a general sense of if they will “receive the Oscar” (they stopped officially saying “win”) based on SAG awards, Golden Globes…I just think she was either trying to somehow downplay the work of the director (which makes no sense- why would she be embarrassed about how much work a director puts into it?) or - yes- being a jerk. I thought she had directed “The Piano” many years ago (which was hard to watch but an incredibly well told story) but someone tied it to Roman Polanski the other night (ha! Not the kind of company you want to keep.)
