HEROIN: Injection Sites, Pros and Cons Debate 11/9/16
The "You Defend it Debate Series," co-sponsored by the Binghamton University Speech and Debate Team and Defend It, Inc., held our first debate of Opposing Views on Treatment for Heroin Addiction. A critically important - and very divisive - issue was debated on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 in the Anderson Center Chamber Hall at Binghamton University. It was a debate worthy of the issue, and worthy of the people whose lives have been, and will be, affected by it.
The debaters were:
1) John Barry, Executive Director of the Southern Tier Aids Program, and a supporter of safe injection sites for heroin users; and
2) Alan Wilmarth, Executive Director, New Horizons Alcohol & Chemical Dependency Treatment Center, who opposes safe injection sites.
