that axe head you are talking about that is smaller but weighs more than the other double bit axes is probably cast-iron rather than mild steel that would explain why it weighs more but is not as big
Makes sense that you see tears in that Axe head, hand forged items are heated, pounded(worked) folded, pounded, folded, pounded etc etc, the small tears are where a layer or two is pulling away, its hand made after all, some inconsistencies due to that fact is normal. I like it!!
great video there Billy, awesome slab. The burning and slittin wood is very PROPER... lol. I have some blacksmithing experience and the looks of your axe is that maybe the steel insert ( cutting bit)that was forge welded to the wrought iron (axe body) might be seperating just due to use. it is hard to tell without looking at it in person but have seen it in an old axe here in Tennessee. Anyway keep the kids coming and I'll be watching and supporting and sharing even though I am not a content provider... yet. thanks again
Curious if the name "Road Warrior" is cause it just is always left in the truck, available for all emergencies? I have an old felling axe that I bought at a yard sale for $7, with a (not original) poly-handle (yuck!!), which I never swapped out fir a wooden one, as the axe hangs on the outside of my f-550, just outside the driver's door, exposed to the elements.... Some guys hate me fir letting it get a little rusted, but I sand it and erl'itt up from time to time to stay basically on top of that....
Landlord just gave me 60 days to vacate. So, I'm heading outside to mill up a 50" oak log, so that I will be ebble to move it when the time comes... We're looking at sub-zero (WITHOUT wind-chill) temperatures in Jersey the next few days, so, my guys "have off"... Trying to stat strong...
That mill is pretty sweet, it's putting out some nice slabs. I've been waiting to see the video you got when the tree fell on the house the other day. Mr.P
Nice slabs Billy! Man what a great area you live in! Forestry all around. I fell a pretty big aspen last September as a favour to my buddy who owns his own crane business. I have 3 pieces about 42" in butt diameter that have wicked crotch as it braches out. I'm going to slab them up with my timber jig in the spring. Which I could show ya the end result man. Do you mind if I ask ya a question about saws? Don't want to turn it into a forum, just like the way you roll with stuff so your opinion would be great. Keep up the good work. Its the real deal shit man! Love it.

Another great video. Question: Is "Brain Science" more difficult than "Rocket Surgery"? Heh heh. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Was that slip showing a subconscious desire to have a 37' maple log? If so, I can ship you out one... For a small fee....
It looks kinda like a segar chemical. I think thats how you spell it anyway
