Just found out from Wikipedia that it was the first song by a black all-girl group to reach number one in the United States. Cool as hell!! It’s been covered a bunch but this one n the Four Seasons’ are the best
Carole King wrote this along with "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman", "You've Got A Friend", "Chains" (the hit by The Cookies in 1962), "The Loco-Motion", "It's Too Late", "So Far Away", "Take Good Care Of My Baby" (Bobby Vee), "Up On The Roof" (The Drifters) and so many others.
Carole King has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a songwriter and a performer. For a different take on the same song, check out Carole King's own version from her classic "Tapestry" album. Same song but very different feel! ua-cam.com/video/TxWrUtbzlLM/v-deo.html
Another song we danced to. I can see us slow dancing to this song. I'm 73 yrs old and say we had some of the best songs and talented artist! Pure raw talent!!! Beautiful memories! Thank you!❤
Another one of the great girl groups from the 50's-60's. They had a lot of great songs such as "I Met Him On A Sunday", "Tonight's The Night", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "Dedicated To The One I Love", "Soldier Boy", "Boys", "Mama Said", "Baby It's You", "Foolish Little Girl" etc.

Written by the great singer/songwriter Ms. Carol King. "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (1960). Charted at #1 on Billboard and Cash Box respectively for "The Shirelles" named after their lead singer Shirley Owens. It would turn out to be their greatest hit and signature song.
This song has now become a somewhat cheesy karoke thing however the lyrics are still very thoughtful ''tonight with words unspoken'' for example. The song writer Carol King is probably the most important female composer in rock history. Though this was written in partnership with Gerry Goffin. My band still plays this. :)

maybe the best girl group ever......i remember the first time i heard this when it just came out and still love it 60 years later. i think this is the first girl group to have a #1 hit across America in 1960-61
I love Shirley Owens voice (the lead singer after whom the group is named). Her voice is strong but still sounds so vulnerable. This was a very advanced song for the time. The (unspoken) suggestion of spending the night together was unacceptable at the time. Carole King, who co-wrote the song with Gerry Goffin also did a great version on her 'Tapestry' album. King and Goffin were among the premier songwriters of the era.
@@ShawnandMel4Life I know a lot of useless, trivial information about that era, haha. I really enjoy your reactions and love to see you reacting to classic songs from that time.
BABY IT'S YOU is, too, a wonderful song.....along with the rendition given by Gayle McCormick (who, unfortunately, is no more with us...R.I.P.) with The (Group Called) Smith !!!
Thank you for what you are doing. I'm 77 years old and grew up with this music. It never occurred to me that there are people in the US who have never heard Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The Platters, The Mamas and Pappas, The Carpenters, on and on. You are introducing a whole lot of younger people to something I'm sure they will enjoy. Please keep it up.
Written when Carole was 17 and her husband Gerry Goffin was 21. Gerry wrote the words. Remember that a year earlier they got married-when they found out Carole was pregnant. That gives this song a whole new meaning . And what is more amazing is the words were by the husband. Gerry was a really sensitive guy. He also wrote the words to You Make me Feel Like A Natural Woman.
I love the strings in this, perfect arrangement. Really move the song forward. i never get tired of this string arrangement. Remember the Beatles were listening to this group back in the day a covered some of their other songs.
The lead singer of the Shirelles is a very charming young lady. This song and her performance are among the very best of that era. Goosebumps best describe the experience.
There were so many WONDERFUL "girl groups" that informed the Top 40 musical scene of the late 1950s and early '60s. The Shirelles, The Ronnettes, The Dixie Cups, The Crystals, The Chiffons... I loved every single song and my little best friend and I could sing most of them by heart. I look back and think how lucky I was to have that music in my my pre-teen years.
All these girl groups of the early to mid '60s were so great. They were on the radio all the time and definitely bring back such great memories of my junior high school and high school days, hanging out with my friends in the summertime.
Back in the day. Girls gave great thoughts to whom they gave themselves to. This song made you think. Love this song. I love that you guys go deep. The words meant something.
The song was written by Gerry Goffin & Carole King, one of the most prolific & successful songwriting teams of the 50s/60s era, maybe even ever!! A list of their songs by the many varied artists who recorded them would give you enough new reaction material for at least a month or two if you listened to them everyday. By 1970, Carole King decided to sing her songs herself. Finally displaying an incredible voice, her second album, Tapestry, became one of the most successful albums ever, with high volume sales & numbers of awards won. It is still considered one of the best albums in music history. I Feel The Earth Move is one of the great songs on the album, which also includes Carole's own version of Will You Love Me Tomorrow. Treat yourself to a listen!
Always have loved the Shirelles. A classic. And the voices are magical. See the moral lessons we grew up with. Love that bass. Believe it or not, my boys Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons had a big hit covering this tune. Check it out. Nice string arrangement too.
Another Group from my time.. The Shirelles, great voices.. Great music.. Love the fact you guys are willing to get a real Motown and rock and Roll education..😃
I love how y'all always listen to the song, the lyrics, what someone must have been thinking when they wrote it, and the era that the song came out. Music always makes us feel/think something. Love ♥️ your reactions to songs of my life. ♥️😊
The Shirelles had many hits and all of them are good. You should also check out a song called "A Lovers Concerto" by The Toys. It's a very similar style.
Two things blow me away here .... the beautiful heart felt lyrics and those wonderful violin and cello sounds -- it's one of Rock's greatest early hits !
My girls The Shirelles from my home town Passaic, NJ. They were ground breaking so much so that The Beatles even covered some of their songs. Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote this smash hit for them.

Great reaction! Great song. It was produced by the infamous Phil Spector who developed the 'Wall of Sound', not only for the The Shirells, but The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love/Bobby Sox and Blue Jeans, The Righteous Brothers and Ike and Tina Turner. The concept was to kind of obliterate the sound of each individual instrument in favor of an overall, composite background . . . a "Wall of Sound", if you will.
Sorry, this was not a Phil Spector production and isn't representative of his 'Wall of Sound'. It was Luther Dixon that produced this and many other Shirelles records. Phil Spector did not produce for the Wand/Scepter group of labels that this record was released on. All the other artists you mention were on Phil Spector's own label (Philles) so he did produce their records as well as some others on Atlantic.
This is a classic and I love it! Amy Winehouse did a slowed down version that I absolutely love too! I love when you guys get into the lyrics after the video!❤❤
