    Awesome footage. I was there last summer with my sister and Conkles rim trail was the most challenging and one of the most beautiful. It was really scary in many parts because you could step right off the cliff if you're not careful

      Thanks, Hocking Hills is just gorgeous and you're right the rim trail can be sketchy in some spots. A really beautiful area, thanks for commenting and stopping by!

      +Bryce Newbold thanks! Oh man, Hocking made me fall in love with hiking and backpacking. It's probably one of the prettiest places in Ohio. We were lucky it was a little wet this day so there were no crowds.

    That looked like a pretty grueling hike (at least for me). Let's say impossible😁...But boy, you guys sure got some rewarding views, though!,

      We did! One of my favorite parts about hiking is it's just one foot in front of the other. It's mostly perseverance.

      This sounds silly but depends on how fast you'd want to go. Fast, two hours.

    My fear of heights would have prevented me from completing this trail I think. Looks really cool though. Quite a high level of difficulty from what I can see. I'm sure the rain/mud didn't help matters much.

    • @TimWatsonOutdoors
      @TimWatsonOutdoors 8 років тому

      +Walk Michigan not too difficult at all but I definitely wouldn't call it easy. I don't mind the rain hiking but you're right it did mean we had to be more careful in some areas.

    Tim, I was wondering if you have ever heard what that "peat moss like smell" is that you smell all over the area-especially hiking Cedar to Old Man's?

    • @TimWatsonOutdoors
      @TimWatsonOutdoors 6 років тому

      Responded to your facebook message but I think it's the hemlocks around that area.

    Upper rim at Conkle’s was my favorite. Been about 10 years since I’ve been down there. Only downside is that there were TONS of people everywhere in Hocking. You must be good at angling that camera just right not to get everyone in the picture 🧐

    • @doc021
      @doc021 6 років тому

      I also did some horseback riding near there. Nothing like a horse running down a cliff like it’s nothing and gettin your heart to skip a beat or two.

    • @TimWatsonOutdoors
      @TimWatsonOutdoors 6 років тому

      Actually, every time I've gone we've timed it just after a good rain. No one is there. I've seen video of the crowds and that doesn't interest me at all. It's a beautiful spot and Hocking is probably a major reason why I even have this channel.

      My experience was crowded 10 years ago. Sure it’s even worse now. I’m far enough away that it has to be planned ahead regardless of weather. Is there even any actual backpacking trails there yet or is it still all strictly day hiking?

    • @TimWatsonOutdoors
      @TimWatsonOutdoors 6 років тому

      Day hiking. Although you can make a pseudo backpacking trip by staying at top o the caves campground. They have a trail that connects to Ash cave.
