    I understand the out-of-universe implications, but if the move is banned within the rules of the kayfabe environment, there should be an in-universe justification for it. The piledriver's kayfabe justification for being banned was that dropping someone directly on the top of their head was too dangerous, so it became an illegal hold. I can see a similar justification for the Destroyer, but I can't think of a logical in-universe reason for a Superkick to be banned, or for a Tope Suicida to be banned while other, way more dangerous inside-to-outside dives are legal.

    • @rustlerv6549
      @rustlerv6549 2 роки тому +20

      You misunderstand, he doesn't want to ban them, there should just be a rule that is unspoken that you simply just don't do them unless it's your finisher maybe stop doing it. If you remove the boring through the rope suicide dives people will actually be interested to see how a performer gets from the ring to the out because these stupid inexperienced wrestlers have to wait on the outside for it to happen. Nothing new here just a return to old school wrestling 101 mindset where big moves/wow moments are kept for when it actually has meaning instead of just breaking out every major move in every match no matter what the occasion,leaving nothing for those special ppv or defining match spots,Canadian destroyer/destroyer is a truly special move that is now reduced to a regular spot as is the same with a lot of former high spot moves,if your going through a table every match or jumping off a ladder then it does make it common place and takes away it's shine

    • @Crunch_Carter
      @Crunch_Carter 2 роки тому +1

      I agree to certain extents. The Canadian destroyer to me definitely shouldn’t be used as much as it is now and it should definitely only be used as a devastating finisher. I also hate how overused superkicks are and it’s probably my bias to Shawn Micheals and why I dislike the young bucks so much. The super kick should be a special move used to finish matches or to set up your finisher, but for me moves like the DDT aren’t worth finishing a match with. Same with powerbombs unless the one doing it has a special flair to it that helps it look cooler and seem more devastating. We just have to find a fine line with overused moves and which ones should be gatekept and which ones can stay being used the same as they are now.

      With WWE we get virtually no wrestling, but when we get it the matches aren't half bad, they are usually pretty good, but it's the bad creative that's keeping the promotion down. AEW has too much wrestling, too many wrestlers, and not enough wit to get done what they want done. AEW has something very special going on, but nothing is being utilized correctly besides MJF. There needs to be a happy medium between the 2. CYN could be that medium, but they need the money for it like the other 2 promotions.

    EC3 kinda based for this. I think short sited AEW EVPS and twitter lads saw it as a rag on AEW's product. Subliminally , maybe? This guys got a point , wrestling has to make sense so the layman can actually enjoy it too. While also protecting the careers , safety , and overall view of the sport to the public eye.

    Some moves are definitely overused and those three are definitely one of them, Canadian Destroyer is especially unfortunate given how new it is. In such a short time we have had a Piledriver be used in such an interesting way by damn near everyone. Superkick is overused but I think that’s mainly because if you can lift your leg then you can probably do a Superkick. The Middle Rope Dive is also used by everyone because it’s likely easier to go though the middle rope then try to leap over the top rope.

    I remember when they originally said those moves were banned and how up in arms people got. The whole time I'm thinking the same thing he said about using them behind the refs backs. There's nothing wrong with wanting to protect moves either, as what he said about the finish between him and Penta.
    Which brings me to my final point that fans are SO QUICK to judge things before they actually play out. Imagine watching a Star Wars movie and halfway through deciding you're just going to leave the theatre. Same concept to me.

  • @nick_QA0
    @nick_QA0 2 роки тому +1

    Well, he's right that they're over used. Not sure that making them "officially" banned is the correct response, though. Shades of Bill Watts' "it's illegal to come off the top rope" rule. Yeah, you can work around it and get mileage out of the rule, but it draws more attention to the rule itself than enhancing the fundamentals of the storytelling.

    Move inflation is the natural result of wrestlers trying to outdo each other, and the fact that the typical wrestler is now an athletic cruiserweight, rather than barely mobile behemoths of the 1980's. It is difficult to make an 80's style match look 'cool' when compared to a modern indy/lucha style match. Rather, the old style match will feel low-impact and lazy, because it is. Basically, you are expecting people to be impressed with relatively short, lazy, low-impact matches.
