    Gary looks like your formations are not too bad. Post more videos . Love these old rigs!

    I was raised on the Derrick floor of my grandfather’s Standard Rig and National Machine. I was too young to let me drill with the Standard Rig but I did get to drill with the National. Iloved that National when you had the right motion that 200’ cracker on top of the tools would hit twice every stroke.
    Very few are left to know the feel of the temper screw. Those were the best days of my life.

    I worked on a similar one many years ago, around 1959. Owner was Homer Elliott in Rome NY area. Was one of the best jobs I have had.

    Man I love to see cable rig still kicking ass, no other rig will ever drill a cleaner well or fish out faster!

    Did a lot of this growing up. Used to tie a string on the cable to see how far we were drilling down. Dressing tools was a lot of fun as well

    I found one of these rigs in the mountains in the Philippine, but never knew what it is until now. It's been abandoned for many years..

    Do you allow the governor on the engine to activate while you are drilling? I’ve heard that the best motion is achieved when the engine is allowed the free wheel as the tools go down.

      Pictures and video would help. Any rig company should be able to help find drill pipe and drill stem. What kind of material are you drilling in.

    How deep is max for this rig? in feet rating

    • @cablerigoperator
      @cablerigoperator  8 місяців тому

      It’s rated to drill 1,200 ft. I’m sure that would depend on cable diameter and size and weight of drill tools. It has different settings for changing the length of drilling stroke.

    This has got to be the strongest feller on the planet, pulling up and down that drill steel with just one hand.😉

      osbaldo j. ulloa jimenez the bag containes bentonite chips. I use it to make a thin clay slurry to help bailing out my drillings. This rig was designed to drill 1200 feet, depending on the size of the drill tools. I have 600 ft on this rig.

      osbaldo j. ulloa jimenez check with other drillers in your area. The geology in your area might be better handeled by a rotary or down the hole air rotary.

  • @garyhoyer2586

    Richard, the engine is only working to pick up the drill stem. After the spudding arm starts to drop the drill gravity takes over and the engine is coasting. You want an engine speed that lets that happen.
