you’re literally not supposed to feed them. there are multiple signs that forbid it. I don’t understand why people continue to do so. it only spoils the monkeys and cause them to be more aggressive.
The original monkeys were brought here to eat the arsenic plants that grew around the Kowloon Reservoir. Monkeys are not affected by the arsenic. Some are descendants of released pets (not many).
I don't know if this was the case or not but while I was standing around the bridge, I laid my back against the bars, where a monkey was standing on my left just 2 feet away from me. He had apparently finished eating a banana. I didn't think I was too close to him, but eventually he made an attack on me. I was standing by the bar on teh bridge for less than 40 seconds or so, I had turned my head right and then back again the very second the monkey was about to hit me. Before I had time to back away, he hit me in the back of my left shoulder. It hurt just a little bit. He was pretty strong for a small animal. I took a step backward facing him in front. He opened his mouth wide making a threat with his right hand as a warning (either: I want food, or back off) I took another step back to give him space, and he wasn't bothered anymore nor made any threats. I was slightly worried he was going to attack me again because I honestly don't know what I did to make him attack me. But my question was...did the monkey attack me because wanted more food or was it just because afraid of me? I know that one of the main reasons the park prohibits people from feeding the monkeys is because the monkeys attack humans because they want more food, as humans have constantly kept doing this at the park when they're specifically asked not to feed the animals. Because of this though, the monkeys think that the humans will have more food, so they will attack humans if they don't.
Monkeys are like humans in that some of them are creepy a**holes. If a monkey gives you trouble just give them a friendly reminder that you are not one to be messed with
Bingo. There are a couple of reasons for not feeding WILD animals, it makes them aggressive toward people when they are being fed, and when they are not getting more food, also it encourages them to come up to people where as if they were not getting food they would be less apt to approach. Perhaps the park needs to monitor and fine $$$ people for feeding them. Monkeys are dangerous even though they seem cute and friendly, take a look at those teeth !!
@@frogspit7030 What’s more though, I saw people there teasing monkeys, throwing water or liquid or food at them, making the monkeys feel threatened, which pisses me off. This in turn makes the monkeys more aggressive. It may be what has contributed to their aggressive behavior.

I was there last week, ALL TO MYSELF, only me and the monkeys! GOOD DAY, I would've hated it with all these people. Beautiful animals.
