What always amazes me is when I see you make one of these props, it looks like a prop, but when I see it in a scene like the "sneak" you provided, it looks like some awesome high tech realistic weapon or whatever you've made it to be. I can easily see it's what you've made, but I don't know if it's the lighting, my mind filling in blanks of something being moved around, the actor making it look real, or some kind of magical voodoo, but I really appreciate what you share with us. It makes me happy.
Love seeing your process on these budget film props. It really does show how far you can elevate something from “off the rack” with time versus money spent.
Nerf guns--and their discount knockoffs--are so cool from a propmaker's perspective because they can be modified in so many ways! With a little imagination, it can become anything from a Bolter from Warhammer 40K to a Steampunk sidearm to something from Star Wars, The Orville, or any other SF universe. Some of the more exotic designs can become alien disruptors/phasers from the different Star Trek series or even really alien weapons. And the best part is, if you leave the innards intact and don't mess up the firing mechanism or the barrel, you can still shoot nerf bullets/balls after you've had fun making it into a sci-fi blaster! (Also great for SF, science fantasy, or Steampunk LARPGs as well!)
@@REfan2002 It's even better when you can get a $20 Nerf blaster at your local thrift store for $3-5, because even if it's banged up and doesn't work, you've still got a cheap base for a cool prop, and if it does still work (and they usually do)--LARPG prop, whee!
@@kitirena_koneko Same, I've found several of the X-Shot Micro Fast Fill water blaster for 3 bucks a pop and made 3 of them into Blade Runner blasters.
Have you ever made props for space/alien sports? The toys section of the thrift store can supply you up to your earballs with Nerf Guns. Do you have a signature piece/shape/function you put on all your weapons/guns/phasers/blasters?
Hey mate, for future reference: Unscrewing a nerf blaster will allow you access to the internals. The piece you ut was for instance a mag release, and by unscrewing the blaster you could have removed it, and thus had another grrebly for a future project. Nerf Blasters also have plenty of locks, such as not being able to prime without a mag for instance. Removing these locks might make it easier for doing multiple shots! There are plenty of tutorials and communities that are happy to help! You can also buy kits that will change the silhouette of the blaster!
So I know in miniature painting when you want something to be white it needs to actually be like a light gray or a cream or a light tan, do you think that would also read better on your camera set up than actual white?
Love watching these gun customisation videos. Hope to have a go at something like this in the near future. Those clips from your film look fantastic, a very foreboding atmosphere there, looking forward to what's to come. Excellent!
Top tutorial Anthony. I did like the original white/silver combo but the finished 2nd version looks very cool. It was exciting to see a teaser of the film, I can't wait.
when people talk about big futuristic militerased corporation, my mind does not go to wayland but to an old game: ground control, in wich one of the faction is the crayven corp and they make cereal bar for soldier breakfast, the other faction are somehow close to a space inquisition .-. and I think we underestimate how much such a low reason for an army to exist (cereal bar? come on) means about the universe it is set in
Just gonna say; you could have saved yourself five minutes sawing that lever (the magazine release) off by just opening the blaster up before you filled the screw holes.

Since I started watching your channel I've so many guns around the house. My wife hates it 😂😂😂. It looks AWESOME in the film 😮😮😮
Wow! The sneak peek of the film looks slick! Can't wait to see it and more of your prop builds.

Agreed, even Zuru X-Shot water blasters are a prop maker's dream.

Amazing
I think I will try to do this. You are the coolest scifi guy. I like scifi.

That graphite powder trick leaves a great result. I dont think I've ever seen that before

The internals from NERF blasters are great greeblies. I stuck the end cap from a Stamepede on the end of another barrel as a flash suppressor once.
@@darklordofsword awesome!
The contrast between the white and the graphite looks amazing! And I love the way that stock alters the profile.
Very nice! Black looks way better.
That film looks exciting; can´t wait to see it.
Great looking scifi rifle!

Sometimes compressed air blow off leaves a fine mist of oil on your part. Canned air is reliably clean.

how to spray and color the guns with moving parts with out taking it apart to keep the movement?
ANTHONY, as always great work, keep up the great work.
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the film. 👏
have you thought of add a type of chain to the prop and the character can place it on his or hers back?
also great prop
Another cool modification!

I like when you do s Prop
Looks great either way
Nice. I like the black look better. Looking forward to the other videos.
I like your tutorials for prop making. I learned many things for my own projects. Thank you!
So excited to see this film Anthony. Great work on remastering the weapon skin

I like to imagine you have made enough scifi gun props to fill a large armory.
Film name?

I was chatting with VanOaksProps on one of their livestreams, and he mentioned he watches your videos. Thought you'd be interested to know.
Just shows low budget doesn’t mean low production values some of the best props are just well painted toy guns
