    For those who wish to decide between Thinkific and Teachable, here's all you need to know, that is actually rarely commented in comparisons: Teachable displays videos for the students in 720. This is: not in full HD (1080). Teachable doesn't display this information in their web-site. They say they support HD and 4K, but that is only to upload the files. Video is then down-sized to 720 for the students. I asked their support, and they told me exactly that. This alone is the reason why you should choose Thinkific.

      I'm having so much trouble with Teachable customer support or lack thereof. From a user stand point, you may want to consider that there is no customer service phone number or person to speak to in times of trouble. Additionally, they rarely respond to emails with questions.

    There's a BIG draw back to thinkific, that is, if you make a particular video in your course a free preview, people will still have to sign up in order to watch it, where with teachable, people can still watch it without having to sign up, just like Udemy. A temporary solution is to add/embed the video in the sales page itself so people can watch it. I have reached out to thinkific about this, but haven't heard back from them yet.

    Thank you. This was soooo useful and I’m glad I picked Thinkific already. However I have to say that the Teachable comms, (tone of voice, brand personality etc) are so much warmer, friendlier and more attractive than Thinkific. When I was on Teachable I felt like I had found my people. So if Thinkific invested more in copywriting they would be even more fabulous! 😁

    Thank you very much for this video! It's very clear and specific. I was about to go with teachable (never heard of thinkific before). Teachable was my first choice because they handle the European VAT (I'm in France). But the features of thinkific seems better to my business, especially the quizzes options, video integration... Also, I just created an account after watching your video. I find thinkific more intuitive than teachable. If I definitely go with thinkific (which will be the case I think), I'll use Quaderno to handle the European VAT.

    New style looks more "professional" (cleaner background, standing, button-down shirt) but I liked the old style better (stuff in the background, sitting, Kindlepreneur t-shirt). If you're still aiming at authors I'd go back to the old style, but if you are broadening your horizons, go for the new version. Either way, the quality and editing were great, as usual. Good job Dave with the info and your video editor is fabulous!

    Thanks for the video Dave. One thing I didn't see you mention that you might want to consider is the Uptime of each of the sites as well. I think between the two Thinkific is a better option. I've used the free Thinkific option for a small course and love how easy it is. When I was looking for a platform to launch a major course I was seriously considering using them. I compared them to Click Funnels, Kajabi and others . . . I decided to go with Kajabi at the end of the day because of how easy everything integrates. Yes the plan I have cost double what Thinkific's plan is but Kajabi just seemed to have everything I need and want. They have a Free 28 Day Trail if you're interested.

    You gave a lot of pretty compelling reasons to go with Thinkific, but I have to have reports to prove engagement to my multitude of manages and other people who think they are my boss. Teachable kind of wins by default on that one issue. The only remaining thing that will make me decide one way or the other is, which one is better for an instructor who will be setting up a free course for an already existing group of students. Currently I am using Google Classroom, but the admins at my school have so restricted my ability to use it, that its worthless. I mean they don't even want assignments to be graded.

    Thanks a lot, Dave, it helps to understand those platforms bettet and I really loved your updated January 2022 article (highly recommend others to check it out). I still have questions on what Thinkific is like in their free version and comparing the starter packages for both. E.g. surveys and feedback is very important to me and analytics as well. But I donno how many people would buy my course. Also wonder can one export reports & surveys as well as students replies (say if there is a homework task). My course is on a therapy /counselling method and privacy also is important if people share their practice with the method or personal experience. Wonder what platform is best for that or would it rather make sense to use FB or telegram for the group tasks (I am not a FB fan lately). I suspect at first single students would come one by one watching on-demand and at some point it might be group work within a specific launch in the future.

      Maybe since you've done research and have some b-roll you can make a video specifically for newbies who are working on the 1st course, comparing these platforms (free & basic plan)? Pros & cons, solutions :)

    Um about that email integration thingie... I use ActiveCampaign and it is NOT available as an option (ditto for infusionsoft) unless I buy the Growth add-on pack or Premier. I suspect it would also work with Zapier. Both these options add SIGNIFICANTLY to the monthly cost once you go above 100 students (first 100 are currently free for the growth pack). I plan to have more than 100 students in my course, so that's a big extra cost over time (+$10/m for every extra 100 students, with a max of $499/m!). I am actually looking at moving off thinkific to my own WordPress hosted LMS using Learndash (& a paid Vimeo account for video hosting) as it ultimately is cheaper and a LOT more flexible.... Thanks for the review though.

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  5 років тому +1

      Yes, for those two integration is offered at those two plan levels. However, regardless of plans, Teachable doesn’t offer it. For me plugins where off the table because they slow down a website and can cause issues on CSS and load on a website. SEO and site speed are very important to me.

    Interesting.... I was recently also looking at Kajabi but I decided to stick with Thrive Apprentice (based on customization, look, and price) for round one.

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  5 років тому

      To me Kajabi was more expensive and didn't incorporate what I wanted. Thrive was a potential though, but there were a couple of things that were off-putting with it.

    • @DaringChinchilla
      @DaringChinchilla 5 років тому

      @@Kindlepreneur Oh really, what did you find off-putting with it? (I will admit it's not perfect)

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  5 років тому +4

      @@DaringChinchilla Well first off, I'm not a fan of plugins or those that you need to install - it ends up putting a larger load on the website itself, and site speed is important to me since I operate under a lot of SEO practices which has helped to grow Kindlepreneur to over 200k visitors per month - but I'll admit I'm very sensitive to site speed. It also doesn't do Video Hosting, which means I'd either need to use UA-cam (highly unprofessional looking) or another one like YT but again, comes with professional issues, or restraints (or ads...ick). There is Wistia (which is amazing) but they are super expensive.

    • @DaringChinchilla
      @DaringChinchilla 5 років тому

      @@Kindlepreneur These are all good points and I agree, your site is wicked SEO`ed :-)
      Hosting it on YT would be SUPER unprofessional. Imagine paying for, then going to watch a course and it throws ads at you :-(. I'm using Vimeo but that's also not free. I'll definitely consider Thinkific for my course in round two of the launch.

    • @Kindlepreneur
      @Kindlepreneur  5 років тому +3

      @@DaringChinchilla Actually one little hack that I LOVE about Thinkific that I didn't say in the video is that the videos through them are hosted on Wistia. And, there is a way where you can load a video through your course player and pull the code so that you can play your video somewhere else...like on your site, or as a lead magnet video, etc. :)
