I buy Nestlé Coffee Mate, which a powdered coffee creamer and is available from Woolworths/Countdown in a small container off the shelf. I buy it for friends who like white coffee as I don't use or buy milk. It is great because it keeps fine on the kitchen counter along with my coffee.

I'd say IMO there's a sliiiiight class difference in NZ in how people use "tea". Morning tea and afternoon tea are pretty average but you can usually tell what class someone is from if they use dinner over tea and it's usually more middle to upper class. It's one of those things I just kinda know as my immediate and extended family would always give each other weird looks if we even began to use the word tea to refer to dinner.

I used Amazon in NZ and the US...it is just not the same level of selection as in the US, as well returns are extremely easy in the US...it just goes back to that consumerism point. But, good news, yes, you can get goods delivered from Amazon and usually if you spend over 50 bucks then I think the shipping is quite reasonable.

Fejoa's, you need minimum of 2 trees on your property. Then you get an explosion of fruit in season (I'm in Lower Hutt). I usually leave boxes full of fejoa's out front of the property for people to take (free) what we can't consume. Pizza, never liked it, probably because I've never had a real one. I'm kinda lazy, if the tea jar is closer to me than the coffee jar, then tea it is LoL, not too fussed.

New Zealand has turned from a primarily tea-drinking country to a mainly coffee-drinking country, although tea still remains popular. At home instant coffee (invented in New Zealand) is most popular, and a flat white when you're out and about.
NZ burgers can be much better than the American fast food franchise stores offerings, and I don't know why you don't like our pizza, I think it's great!
Amazon is not that bad I've found, used it quite often. Best is Rock Auto for car parts (we have American cars) which only take 7 days from ordering to arriving on the doorstep.

I'm genuinely curious. Why do you think burgers suck in NZ? Our dairy and beef is all from grass fed sources and minimally processed. The rest would all be locally grown salad vegies such as lettuce, onion and tomato. All the buns will have been recently baked from fresh ingredients. Is it the mayo or tomato sauce you don't like? It seems weird to not like locally grown, grass fed fresh ingredients. Perhaps the combinations/ratio's of meat to salad vegies is not to your liking? I cant believe Ive typed a paragraph questioning a strangers burger preferences, but Im really struggling to see whats not to like!!

    • @Kiwiamericans

Oh it is not the quality of the food it is the fact that you over cook the burger. Even at resturants when you ask to not overcook them - they still won't so I just make them at home.

Feijoas grow here in Australia, I saw a hedge of them in Adelaide back in 1980 and picked some fresh fallen fruit and began stuffing my face .
An old lady came out of her house yelling at me to stop.I apologised profusely to the lady who looked at me in horror," no its because they are POISONOUS!" She wailed .
After reassuring her that far from being poisonous they were delicious she broke into one and took a tentative wee taste .Followed by her getting a cutting board, tray knives and spoons as I told her about using them on cakes ,deserts ,jams and so on.
For over 20 years she had been wasting them because of some dimwits supposed knowledge and dire warnings ,said dimwit was about to get a right bollocking .
Wonder how her husband fared ?

Burgers do suck in New Zealand as local takeaways use pre made frozen patties that come in cardboard boxes usually from the same supplier who also supplies the chips and frozen shark aka lemon fish.
Not a fan of the patties or similar supermarket ones as they're virtually sausage meat.
Not a big fan of US Hamburger chains in NZ either as they never seem as good as I remember, maybe because of UA-cam channel 'the burger show' I can make far better at home using the pattie sized cast iron pan deap-fry technique -Allows juicy patties that are over a inch thick, closer to 30mm.
I also find it bizarre there's 3 grades of mince these days, prime is like traditional mince, premium is the low fat version and 'normal' mince is perfect for hamburgers and nothing else unless you can be bothered draining or skimming off the fat.
Also bizarre that rump steak at the local PaknSave is usually cheaper than most grades of mince, sausages, burger patties both the better quality store made and the various frozen ones.

    • @genevieveberge7663
      @genevieveberge7663 Місяць тому

Don't buy burgers from a takeaway, they are always bad. Try an independent 'burger' place...there are plenty around if you can use google and check their ratings

@@Andy_M986 Meh, All burger patties have fillers although I'm a fan of Angel Bay patties brought from a 4 Square as I've lived up far North and the alternative was a 60km round trip to the Supermarkets in Kerikeri.
For F sakes just buy mince and form your own, US ground beef is more finely ground than mince so super thin smash style burgers don't work with mince.
As for burger restaurants they all suck balls including US chains and local like Burgerfuel and Burger Wisconsin.
So unless Gordan Ramsey opens a burger joint like his Las Vegas place my homemade is still next level.
I haven't tried Wahlburgers which is my next mission although I'm more enthusiastic about the alcohol apple thickshake with JD apple that they sell.
Also Popeyes is opening in Takanini and can't wait for a chicken sandwich which are usually sold as a "burger",in NZ ground chicken-burger, fillet is a SANDWICH!
