Since there was reference to world records, WR! Let's put the record straight! The world record for land speed still belongs to the Portuguese brand CASAL! 50cc, 2 stroke, 1 cyl. topping at 224km/h, back in 1981! There was also the GP versions. And most important the regular everyday bikes! For which they build rather decent machines. Being, I would dare to say the best of the 5 or 6 Portuguese brands! Some of those brands were based on the Sachs design! In fact one was called SIS "Sachs"! Clearly demonstrating it's affiliation! CASAL brand still exists. But as far as I know they're just the official Suzuki importer. The days of metallurgy and bikes production are long gone! Sole survivor nowadays is the brand AJP! That came up when ALL others were dying! In itself a feat of survival!
That would be totally anachronic and meaningless! "Real" 2 strokes are for all effects dead and buried! Under piles of legislation! The sole remnants are 50cc's strangled and choked to 45km/h! And pretty much no one invested a single dime on their development for more than 30 or 40 years! Most factories that existed in large numbers, are no more! So we're left over with the veteran classes, memories and not much more! ;-)
Great clip, 50's were phenomenal devices. One little thing though, how to change gear - don't clutch and then drop the throttle because youtube viewers gnash their teeth when you do, better to lightly preload the gear lever and quickly drop the throttle just enough to unload the drivetrain. 😉

Can you buy race tires for bikes like that? They don't seem to put much lean angle, is it because the grip is not very good?
