  • In this episode I review an article from the Wildlife Trends Journal, www.wildlifetrends.com/. A friend of mine actually sent me the article because of the cover picture, which was a photo of me when I worked for the USDA doing some predator trapping. This was a very informative article delving into a lot of specifics around large scale quail plantations and how they handle and pay for predator control programs. This gives some good pricing insight which was a main reason why I wanted to cover this article.

I did predator control work in Indiana for farmers, mainly coyotes. The farmers call me Coyote Chris. We are doing like a 180-acre farm, not plantations so we have to charge completely different. We charge a setup fee and a per animal. But a coyote is $150 per and beavers are $300. Not all are farms, I took a pack from a senior citizen community because they were showing up on the porches. I had a church where one would show up when they let the pre-schoolers out for recess. Had one job a couple attacked a lady in her yr another they killed a ladies dog in front of her. I would rather do your gig though. I also use eggs a lot. We use a lot of snares, but cages for coyotes..lolI have trail cam videos of them walking around them. A couple of the top coyote trappers in the world I have known for several yrs and when I mentioned cages they both separately broke out laughing, not kidding. If you are using cages I wouldn't charge by the animal. You did a good job on this and if I ever run into that kind of situation I think this will be helpful. So Thanks!

Those aren't bad per animal rates, down here its usually more like $25 or $50 per animal. If someone is doing it for a living that isn't paying the bills! You have to adapt to your situation, sounds like you got a pretty good gig though
