I actually spoke to her mother a few times on the phone. She was a lovely woman. I had literally gone to whitepages to look up Barbara’s number and got her mother’s instead. But Barbara ended up sending me an autographed picture of her.

She is such an incredible talent! She had the whole package; singing, played multiple instruments, personality, beauty, and is one of the best performers I've ever seen. She was always such a joy to watch. I know her variety show worked her to death, but I'm so glad we have so much of her performances and talent documented.

I met Barbara, her Father and Husband in 83. I gave her a portrait I drew. She said I was so talented. But for me I was standing in front of a blessed woman with so much talent I was blown away that she said I had talent. That day was a day my family cherishes to this day. Barbara and her family are a beautiful example of a very blessed family that are so heartwarming. Love you Barbara God bless

I just had this video pop into my UA-cam feeds.
I have always, ALWAYS loved Barbara Mandrell. I never missed an episode of The Barbara Mandrell Show. If I knew that she was going to be on TV, I'd make sure I got to watch it.
Barbara and her sisters Louise and Irlene are remarkable singers, musicians and even though I have never met them nor been to any of their performances, I know that they are sweet, kind, compassionate women. They have never hidden the fact that their faith in God is important to them. I hope that Barbara and her sisters know how much they are loved.
Barbara may have retired, but she is still amazing. Watching her take the stage for the 50th Anniversary of her being a member of The Grand Ol' Opry, just blew me away. I just wish that I could have seen it, in person.
I wish that I could write to her and thank her for giving of herself. I would thank her for putting herself out there, for all those years, and inspiring so many. I just hope that she knows how loved she still is. ❤️ She truly is a living legend. She is a national treasure.

While I was raised on country music growing up, enjoying the likes of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and a host of others, it was Barbara Mandrell that influenced me the most from the genre. There was simply no one else like her and, while I know it scared some at the direction, for me it was the blurring the lines of country and pop that helped me see that I needed to listen to more than just one brand of music. It was through Barbara that I did expand on my library, and because of that, I my music knowledge and love is very expansive. Barbara worked her tail off to get that honor of the first Entertainer of The Year Award twice. But even more important was her also getting the People's Choice award for Female Entertainer for almost every year of the decade of the 80's despite commercial popularity. The world of Country Music owes a huge debt to Barbara Mandrell...but so does music in general. She paved the way and influenced many. She is sadly missed in the performing circuit...both live and recording. I am glad that the CMA's have remembered her here, and it's my hope that others that have listened to her in a while or maybe never before, will discover what a treasure she is and pioneer.

Wonderfully said, I don't put singers into a certain class. If I enjoy their music, I listen to it. People complain that "she's not country". Well Barbara is an awesome musician, she plays 7 different instruments proficiently. (her autobiography- Get To The Heart)

    • @unknown-sx8sn

I hope too that new generations will discover Barbara. However, over the years I have posted videos of her including 4 full length concerts and the fans loved watching them again and there were some who had never seen her in concert who were thrilled by what they witnessed. Then after years of being on line Barbara Mandrell Productions pulled them from my channel. Those concerts are not for sale to the public and are never shown on television so I was disappointed, not for me but for new fans to see. Of course, if she doesn’t want them on UA-cam, that’s fine, they belong to her but I’m curious as to how she can win new fans if there are no outlets for people to see why she was so special. Her albums are great but to see her performing live was thrilling. Maybe someday her “The Lady is a Champ,” “Stepping out” “Live at the Palace” and other concerts will be released, who knows, we can only hope.

Angie Kozyra .. It's weird with Barbara Mandrell because a lot of people have no idea who she is unless they're from that generation. But many know who Dolly Parton is. Something about this woman just kind of fell off. But I still like her and her music.
