I have been driving a 2014 model that is a blast. The only complaint I have is that it is too small as a family hauler. As a daily commuter it rocks!

If Mazda only had more passenger space in the back and added Android Auto/Apple CarPlay this would be a clear winner.
You can actually hack the MZD Connect to run Android Auto. MZD is also based on Linux :D

Your probably looking for a Mazda 6 then. I love the design of the car and not as boxy as a lot of Sedans but still a reasonable amount of space in the back.

I have a 2008 Mazda 3 and love it. Still going strong, but looking on getting the 2017. But, previously, I had a Subaru. The Subaru was exceptional on snow and rain. So, right now, I am looking at the new Mazda and a new Subaru. My question is ..... how is the 2017 Mazda 3 on snow, and rain for that matter?
keep in mind with the guages, mazda uses a very long sample for the average mpg, probably around 1000 miles. the avg mpg will not be accurate until several weeks of daily driving.
love this car just don't understand why they hid the dual exhaust on the sedan and not the hatch also.

Can you short shift when in manual mode? Like shift below 2k rpm (1.5k rpm preferrably)? Very critical for my country; for fuel economy reasons. Please help!!
I've got an even better place for that engine Start button: under the driver's seat. Also, the touch screen should work even when driving but with a front passenger whose seat already has a sensor to know if someone's sitting.

cardo I have a '17 hatchback, a friend has a '16 hatchback. The '17 is slightly quieter, especially in the back seat. The '17 also rides noticeably smoother. Both cars have 18" rims and same rubber so are comparable.

Hey Dave. I really like this car's driving dynamics but the interior is cramped. Also, the 6 does not seem like a real step up since it is heavier with the same engine and transmission.
Given the fact that I have only the 2.0L 6 speed manual I average 35+ in everyday driving. I have found that the harder I drive the more stable my mpg is. The only Issue I have are the infotainment center and the manual transmission is some times a bear in first. I jerks around like someone learning how to drive a manual. Dealership said it's normal it's how it's made?

What G-V it does is reduce engine torque during turn-in so the outer front wheel gets a bit of load added to it which can improve handling. But that's nothing an experienced driver can't do with his right foot.
Sven Schwingel that's not entirely true!!! I was going about 80mph and forgot to brake, g-vectoring kicked in and it was smooth as whipped butter. Looked in my rearview mirror the closet car was about a half a mile back. So yes it works.

If you want value for money, more advanced cabin tech and efficiency with a pretty solid driving feel: Honda.
If you're a keen driver and you care about driving dynamics and how a car feels in your hands and a car with personality in the way it looks and drives: Mazda.
Can't go wrong with either one; both top of class in my book, especially since with the Civic hatch you can now get the 1.5 litre turbo with a 6 speed manual
I love my 2016 civic, great fuel economy and power with the 1.5L turbo compared to the mazda 3 I test drove. The lane watch camera is so useful as well, never thought I'd use it as much as I do. Frankly I never would have bought a past generation civic but this version is sleek and is packed with cool features like android auto/apple carplay.

What do you mean by the 40 and 60 split in the back?
40 60 as in the ratio. Notice how you cant fold the passenger seats in half. It's only two seats or one seat. 40 is the one seat and 60 are the two seats, hence 60 40.
Can anyone think of a good reason not to put the turbo 2.5 from the cx-9 in this and the 6?

raul1794 I blame gov regulations forcing car companies to produce fuel efficient vehicles or get heavily taxed. that's why many car companies are scrapping bigger motors for a turbo charged 4 banger. mazda is a smaller company than honda or toyota so it's not really feasible for them to produce bigger motors
I wish you would talk more about how the car drives and handles. Your reviews generally lack detail on that.

Drove a 2015 not to long ago. Was a little let down honestly! Though it would get up and go a bit more. Now my new g37! That thing moves. Glad I drove it though. They're asking a little too much for this car in my opinion.

Of only this had Android Auto....
Mazda used to recently offer live traffic updates on navigation and now it's inexplicably gone = FAIL. No Android Auto capability for google maps traffic update (for foreseeable future) = EPIC FAIL.

This car is over due for a real update. I drove a Mazda 3 and was not impressed.Also crumbs will live in the perforated leather seat holes and down in the knob controller...poor design.
I like cars like the Honda Civic and the Subaru Impreza better than this car

Review ??? WHAT REVIEW ??? This was nothing more than a blatantly conspicuous commercial for Mazda. Unfortunately and quite disgustingly Almost All of the currant online "So Called" reviewers are the manufacturers guests and treated to free travel, as well as upscale lodging and then wined and dined. Multiply this treatment by all the vehicles they review and your now enjoying the full lifestyle V.I.P. "positive review" treatment ! Your going to hear the good but not the bad and the Ugly, unless of course it's minimalized and sugar coated. Now, you must know that all this is buying them all the positive words the reviewers can regurgitate in there "bought and payed for" reviews. It's Bullshit served up with icing.
