using Odin today I was able to restore an Note 4. I was getting a bootloop even after the Install but I see you said to take out battery and power+home+volume up and reset phone and reboot. that is was i was not doing. Once i did it rebooted fine and is running like new. thank you

I see the "Recovery Booting" in the top left corner, but then it either reboots again, or I get that "No Command" message. The only thing that keep the phone on is going to that "Downloading" mode with the volume down key. My phone has been stuck in a bootloop that takes place when the screen still says Samsung Galaxy Note 4...it doesn't even make it to the Red Verizon screen. So I don't think this update can even install properly because it keeps rebooting. But the phone did stay on the entire time Odin was being used.

This Odin method did not work for me, nor did changing the battery or anything else I've tried. After the Odin process passed, the phone won't go into the recovery menu. I just freezes on the blue "recovery booting" message up top and never advances. I've been fckin around with this phone for days and I'm out of patience at this point, so it's time to get a new phone. I just have to decide between a note 9 or pixel 3 xl. Although I'm not sure if I want to trust Samsung since my note 4 just crapped out for no apparent reason. I do think the pixel is overpriced, considering the impressive feature set of the note 9. What do you think?
@@Eccentech I love(d) my note 4, but was hoping to get another year out of it. Also, I'd love to see Samsung offer users a lightweight software option, without all the bloatware. I know some is necessary for all the great features to work. but I'm sure some could be eliminated to improve performance. The note 9 only performs on par with the Pixel, despite the fact that it has 50% more ram. It would truly be a performance powerhouse if there wasn't so much garbage running in the background.

well, tried this, didnt work out , the method failed at video mark 7:14. the phone has kept on rebooting along with the "recovery bootinh " mentioned in the screen
so my problem is my note 4 won't even budge even if i hold the three buttons which were the down, home and power button. i can't get to the warning screen. guess that's a different problem

Nothing worked for me permanently out of everything from even chilling to going through the Bios to Odin the only solution to slighlty work is holding the back of the phone with one hand and smacking the screen really hard (till my screen protector broke) with the other hand. this seemed to work and the phone powered on and stayed on for about 20 minutes. Second time i did it I did a hard factory reset and here's hoping it sticks
I dropped off my note 4 to get fixed three weeks ago. It died during a software update and it was stuck on the at&t logo. He re installed android and It's still not working. I guess I need a new phone.

This time when I had to reinstall, the charging/battery process was interfering with the up vol button that it wouldn't allow it to progress to the next step when I pushed Upvol. I had to leave the cable unplugged until after I was able to select upvol. Then select the AP file, then wait for CS To Leave, then don't forget to hit Start :-) Thanks again!!
Yo, I downloaded the firmware and it's definitely in my computer, but whenever I click "AP" in Odin and the file selection pops up, the firmware is no longer selectable. The firmware file just doesn't appear when I click "AP" to search for it. I can find the firmware in my file explorer though. Weird. I do believe I'm up to the latest Odin and latest note4 firmware.
also after i load the firmware...while its loading with the android it will say erasing about half way through...I can't unplug the phone from the computer the battery won't charge I guess

Latrell Jennings I think the battery wasn't charged enough. I let it sit overnight and woke up to it at the recovery screen. I did the final steps and I'm just waiting for it turn back on
I would have liked to see it boot past the red screen at the end. Edited: Twice I have reinstalled Android following the video. First time was an upgrade from 4.4.2 to 5.0.1 after a crash. 2nd time was reinstalling 5.0.1 a month later when phone locked up again. Now another month and locked up again, I used the instructions of power/home/up-vol to delete cache and then do factory reset there. Much quicker but still had to reinstall all of the apps and this time I cannot recover my contact list which did recover the 1st 2 times. I kept it in my MSFT account but now syncing with that has no info. Latrell, seems I have to visit your instructions twice per year to keep my S4 going.....hope this video never gets taken down. This time I started via Power/Home/Down Volume and when it finished all of my apps and contact list were there from before. I also erased cache before the install. I watched my phone lock up this time. I think some update gets stuck and crashes the phone beyond its ability to restart. Thanks again!! Now April, 2020
Well crap. The N910A is not there. And the smart switch is different than what you have so it don't work either. Dam phone is frustrating curse. I have heard everything from battery to motherboard causing this trouble. And people have tried everything imaginable and still have troubles. This includes rooting and rerom. I have put mine in the freezer to reboot it and this works every time. So does anyone have solid solution before I hammer this dam thing like I think it deserves? I have considered putting in a new motherboard for $150 but the question is will I just be putting in another faulty manufactured motherboard?

Factory resetting just deletes your data and resets the settings. This completely erases everything and reflashes it. All of Android. Not just data. So it's a completely new phone almost. Also removes root.

I've always preferred Samsung, and agree with you on the Pixel being overpriced. So I'd say go Note9.

Yes. You can just put the SD Card in something else and do it that way though too.

Get a Verizon model if that has ROM's. All Verizon phones are unlocked.
