I love when Monfils pronounces all those names with a French accent
Same here.
I love his accent as well
It gets more intense the longer he goes.
not an accent, just the french way
Is Courier a french surname? It felt very natural the way he pronounced it
So is Rios the only ATP #1 who didn't win a major ? That would be a good tennis trivia question.
Yes
@@donrito Guillermo Vilas ?
@@donrito who did you mean ?
@@Luca33600 we'll never know
@@Luca33600 Vilas was never ranked number one in the official rankings, despite winning 4 majors. Rios held the number one ranking for 6 weeks he still has the dubious distinction of being the only ATP # 1 to never win a major.
Curious how the older they are, the better they've done
Not so surprising. You have more first hand experience of the #1s and have had more years on the tour also to meet some of the former #1s etc
Tiafoe, such a class. Very American. Doesn’t remember their own history
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
His family didn't immigrate to American until the 1990s
@@GW-tr8xn oh ok. I was joking. I’m American, so I’m insulting my own national identity
@@monicafoley1136 i love your humor
YES! The ladies next!
Crazy there hasn't been any world number 1 who is born in the 90s yet.. That's how dominant the big three are.
Meddy close
@@ratinahat2544 Rafa: lol no
Medvedev heard you lol.
OMG even in this Dimitrov choked in clutch.
it's funny how Khachanov pronounced Kafelnikov in english manner though it's different in russian
wow it took them long time to remember sampras and agassi !!??
didn't they go chronologically?
It's edited so we don't really know the actual order they said it
Vilas
Vilas
Vilas
Vilas
Prime monfils would beat anyone on his day 😍
Arthur Ashe?
Didn’t hear them say it… never heard them say it
He peaked at 2 in 76
Connors and Borg kept him from 1 I think
is there more than 26 or is that all of them?
26 in the open era. Guillermo Villas should've been named here as well
@@matiasalanis397 Wiki says his highest ranking was no 2: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillermo_Vilas
@@king0vdarkness Yeah but ATP was corrupt
This is inspired by F1, F1 has done the same laat year.
I have all the time i need..... Ok so...
Seb was amazing
@@superstar_h_gamer5211 Her: he's probably thinking about other girls
him: 69 stewart 68 hill 67 humle 66 brabham......
that was the first thing I thought when I saw this
why did nobody say carlos moya
They did
So the results are ordered by age lol
i just realized that too
One year older one year wiser I guess 😁😂
Not surprisingly, the American performing the worst
Notice how the worst one was tiafoe, American…
But he’s also the youngest .
We must all thank Rafa for denying Medvedump world number one! Nextgen are not worthy!
Stop bullying the new generation! Already fed up with this big 3 rivalry
@@user-nalie.1800 You nextgen fangirls don’t know how to appreciate greatness. Rafa and the Aussie crowd has scarred Medvedump for life 😂
@@user-nalie.1800 The new generation is useless! Arrogant, rude and still losing to 35 year olds.
I saw the "Medvedump" insult, I looked at your username - holy grace ! Our lord has returned from the grave - Ryo Shusuke our savior is back !
so monfils got all and cilic just missed borg lol, if borg hadnt retired at 26 then he had the potential to have cilic remember him.
Its very difficult to miss Borg if u have said Mcenroe. Like theres some players that just are always mentioned together. Its almost impossible to mention one without mentioning or thinking of the other e.g. Federer/Nadal, Borg/Mcenroe, Sampras/Agassi.
@@yusufluhar5881 True
Nah he knew it for sure it just didn't come across his mind in the moment or he thought he said it. He knew almost all of them and Borg is one of the more famous number ones no way he didn't knew.
@@peolfpetler8500 Yeah for sure knows, but slipped his mind. I was doing these in my head in chronological and forgot Rafter even though at the beginning I was saying to myself "ok when you get to the 90s, don't forget Rafter" lol
@@HawkOfGP yeah rafter was pretty forgettable. i believe he was only no. 1 for like what, a week
I love how Cilic doesn't need any validation. He is so so certain of his history. Dimitrov had me dying. So cute!
Happy to see Monfils win! Hopefully he will get fulfilled with his Grandslam dream this year! I knew, it’s very hard & some luck need to favor him. But he is such a character, alway fun to watch him play.
Nice see Cilic back and playing his power tennis. Great to watch.
Let's not forget Meddy! Add 1 more deserving player to the famed list.
Gael just owns it and Marin naming the players with such an ease as well. I can imagine them sitting both in front of telly when they were little boys and cheering for all these legends. And then also enjoyed playing some of them.
Monfils and Cilic named guys I’ve never even heard of haha
Not watched tennis for long I take it
So you're not a tennis fan
@@elektrik_exekutioner6822 I’m just young to be honest
@@tds7078 Do you think I've seen Nastase play?
@@elektrik_exekutioner6822 I knew who Nastase was. Don’t have to know every detail to be a true tennis fan.
Anyone claiming to have gotten all answers correct, I question but good for you.
Your reward…
Being just like me, a tennis fan.
Cilic always sound intelligent
I love Marin Cilic. An understated guy that just comes off as super sweet all the time
Now Medvedev can be added to this list 💙🇷🇺
Dimitrov's accent sounded so American at times.
He’s trained in Florida almost his whole life, it’s like with Sharapova too
I said it before. Marin Cilic should do audio books once he retires. What a voice. 💯🥳👏🏽👍🏽
Great job, Monfils!
Wow!!! Hats off to Monfils... Such a genius in naming all 26 male tennis players who are No. 1 in ATP rankings! 🤯🙌🏻
Alcaraz and Medvedev appended to the list
@@niharsane4388 Yeah!!! ☺😉
Cilic's concentration face and Monfils' making all those names sound French🤣
Even in this, i was rooting for Cilic
Cilic & Monfils rattling em off with ease!! Impressive
lol monfils doing the utmost most french pronunciations of everyone's names
Because he's French...?
It's brutal man. You reach number 1 in the field and people that come after you can't even remember your name...
monfils is the sebastian vettel of tennis
Wow! Impressive. It's good to know your profession and the history if it. You don't have to be a master or super scholar, just know what you are standing/building on.
Năstase was the first ATP nr 1, Monfils was on fire as always🤙
Didn't know he reached the n°1
i got all but 3, muster, kafelnikov and rafter
Marat Safin in a French accent is beauitful
@ATP Tour UA-cam Managers: I've been enjoying these clips because I love tennis, but I'm sure showcasing these players out of the court doing fun things is part of the marketing to expand the audience. Non-tennis fan viewers may come upon these clips thanks to the algo, so it would REALLY HELP if there was a graphic identifying these players at the first instance. Marketing 101!
Courier, sampras, Agassi, Borg, Macenroe, the big three, Andy roddick and Andy Murray where the only ones I knew.
2:04 onwards, that background music is sick 🔥🔥😂
cilic really competitive wow
Got 23 myself on the top of my head, pretty sure I could muster 4/5 more !
edit: there got myself another one with Thomas Muster as my 24 !
edit: realised there's only 26 !!! I missed Edberg and Courier :(
Monfils French accent sounds so good
i love marin CILIC
Gael, always lovely to watch. I also liked how Marin took the whole name of every player.
we all know who Barty is talking about when she says double whammy aha
Can we have an IQ test in general
Monfils: the Vettel of Tennis.
Cilic is the vettel here
I would have said sampras first no doubt 😂
Daniil Medvedev
Sampras
Where was this filmed?
Monfils saying I Love Him to Chino Rios ❤️❤️
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, John Mcenroe, Boris Becker, Andy Roddick, Bjorn Borg, Jim Curier, Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg, Thomas Muster, Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, Daniil Medvedev, Andy Murray, Mats Wilander, Patrick Rafter, Gustavo Kuerten, Carlos Alcaraz
Haha the way they edited it looks like Monfils copies Cilic 😂😂😂
Newcombe and Nastase were clutch calls by Cilic and Monfils.
Was rod laver not number 1?
Actually no, in professional Rankings
Marin 🇭🇷❤️🇷🇺
Monfils 😂😂😂😂
Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Rod Laver
Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz 😎
Monfils Vs Cilic played like a Grand Slam Final.
Did anybody mention Pat Rafter?
really like tennis version of grill the grid
Gugão é FODAAAAA!!!!
Monfils je t' adoooooore
Agassi
becker?
medvedev
Where i can watch wta interview
You didnt even write the question
the older they are, the better they do :)
No Pat Rafter? My 2nd favourite player of all time.
I loved watching him too, but I wouldn't have come up with his name for this challenge. Then I looked it up - he was only #1 for one week so I didn't feel so bad.
How can you not guess Sampras, Agassi, Rafter and the 80s and 90s legend straight away!!!
I mean Frances is the youngest here by far so I'm not surprised he wasn't familiar with some of the players on this list
Rafter was only there for 1 week surprisingly!
@@Entername-md1ev you're not surprise that someone doesn't know the legends oh the sport he plays professionally? I think you should be to be honest :D
like... i can understand missing Rafter Muster Nastase Ferrero or Hewitt who were #1 for a short period of time, but he should definetely know the others
@@matthewcaple6741 only won the US opens so maybe not so surprising. If you're ever only holding points from a single Major, chances are that your reign is short. Although the WTA has had some exceptions to this
No one mention Rafter, who was no. 1 for one week and one week only
They did at 1:27
That's cool😀
What about nalbadian? Wasnt he no1

Rod Laver?

Tiafoe had the audacity to call Federer just Fed? A bit disrespectful tbh
Winner: LaMonf!!!!
Loser: American education system with Tiafoe 😂!!!
Tiafoe literally the youngest. You don’t need to know all this stuff to be good at tennis.
Which education system teaches tennis history lol
lol why would they teach that at school
Never heard of Ríos or Rafter
You must be very young
Marcelo Ríos is known for being number 1 without ever winning a Grand Slam. He won 5 Masters, though. So basically right now him and Zverev have similar statistics lol
Are they allowed to refuse to do these stupid games?
Would you rather they post nothing at all and give the players no personality
@@JamesIsAway I mean it’s cute but how much of your actual personality is shown by recalling trivia knowledge to a camera? It just seems like so much of the players’ off-court time is devoted to media (interviews, press conferences, ads, branding, etc.) that this just seems unnecessary. I think players’ personality is often expressed already during press conferences, on-court & off-court interviews, on-court antics, and through social media.
Maybe I’d be more sympathetic if these games featured more players who are not as accustomed to the spotlight (ie players like Taro Daniel who only got 1 question in his last post conference press conference). Right now it just comes off as ATP milking the top players for content even if it’s pretty saccharine content that only really superficially highlights their personality.
@@123cobrastrike but I like them though.
@@123cobrastrike isn’t this entire sport milking the best players for content? Why does that have to be a bad thing? You’re telling me you’d rather watch match highlights of Taro Daniel than Monfils just because the channel doesn’t show Daniel as much?
