    @0:33 they say something.
    The first mountain cog railway was the Mount Washington Cog Railway in the U.S. state of New Hampshire, which carried its first fare-paying passengers in 1868. The track was completed to reach the summit of Mount Washington in 1869.

    Not only did they forget Mt Washington, they also forgot Snowdon in Wales and I believe there was a rack railway in coastal California at one time; there is also at least one historic rack railway in Greece.

    Major point-source of pollution with that little kettle burning bituminous coal without secondary air. At least they could have tried anthracite. What TYPE of rack, back then?

    Astonishing to consider that the same engine in this video was in service 60 years later.

    @micahthatrocks well they brought the #4 out last weekend for a test run so you may see steam going at least part way "no water tanks remain to refill locos aside from the one at the bottom" up the mountain some time soon.

    Very interesting film; the commentary is very much 'of its time'! I wonder about that snowball fight, it looks remarkably 'staged' to me!

    Pikes Peak Cog Railroad is now closed due to mismanagement by the Broadmoor Hotel and a corporate Billionaire named Phillip Anschutz!
