Possibly the greatest song ever written. Didn't matter what was going on at school or at home. If you heard this song, odds on all that madness faded away and your master league team was all you needed and all you lived for. Nothing else mattered.
All the variants of the PES anthem along the franchise titles until PES2008 are unique… this is an underrated jingle that deserved more credit among music and football until nowadays, because PES before making official partnerships along the past decade was art.
@@soloruns-o5m Not really. I don't think you understand the original comment fully. The original comment was dead on right. Not just that but, everything from aesthetic to more was just brilliant compared to this now minimalistic era decade. This track comes straight from the year 2003, what a time to be alive! I shed tears thinking back to those wonderful times sometimes. Everything was different, everything we see around us wasn't the same, 2003 is now such a dead era, such a hype and wonderful time to be alive! This sort of music was everywhere, things still had distinct styles, thing's weren't low effort compared to this decade, social media was almost non existent (which was great in more ways then one) and much more. @@kozmo-gonic I don't deny that there is some level of attachment there, I never said otherwise but also, the others out there who also 'lived' through those times also had some of their best times that can't be beaten today. Is it because they were younger then? perhaps, is it because that time period is a lot more alien, strange and experimental and had more to offer in ways? absolutely. Pretty much everything about that era was different compared to today's stagnated world. The internet is now too big. Trends rule everything and corporations put in less effort to make a good product now compared to then. Why do you think PES (efootball now) is nowhere near on the same level, quality wise, now compared to then? In your your original comment you said, basically, just turn off your phone, meditate and play pes, which you can do but it's not the same and never will be. It was all about being in the moment and this anthem resonates all that was great about the sport at the time, the energy, the year, so good man, so good. You can't even compare it to now. There's so much more I could go on about but you can't deny that year and that decade was completely different to now. Every decade, every year etc has it problems, I'm not saying otherwise but compared to today, that era was one of greatness for more then one thing. Nothing changes now, everything is homogenous and low effort.
I can happily and proudly say that I grew up in the best era (late 80s through the 90s). I’ve played Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution Soccer to death and this track alongside its predecessor (similar melody and tune) brings back so many happy cheerful memories. Typed this whilst playing Winning Eleven 6 on the GameCube (which is Pro Evolution 2). Found PES3 for the PS2 in a used retro game shop in Paris for 4€, getting it tomorrow.
I played Winning Eleven 6 (the box was without cover but I had PES2 so I recognized it immediately even if it was in Japanese) in a hostel in Osaka… not for long, time for a Piemonte vs Lombardia, but damn, in a Osaka hostel! Felt like trying local food!

I'll admit, I didn't play sports games like this much but if there's one I always appreciated about the older games, especially ones of this generation, is the trance that was in a lot of them and the great soundtrack's a lot of them had in general. Man... 2003, such a long time ago, I tear up thinking back to those days of past, such a different era, a dead era now. Things back then felt so much different compared to todays landscape, not just in gaming but life in general. I was much younger and my life felt like it was just beginning and this music was everywhere in Europe. I just about remember shops of this period, mainly electronic stores like Comet, PC World etc showcasing demos on the big plasma screens with music channels on and this music genre was centre stage. You couldn't miss it, it was everywhere! Nothing like that today and considering Currys is the only big, overpriced electronic store left, it does indeed feel like the end of an era for those sort of brick and morta stores, the internet was still fairly in it's infancy too and in a much better position compared to today in so many ways. Football back then was completely different too, man what a different atmosphere and aesthetic. The sport is nowhere near the same energy, excitement and rush as it was back then. Football Hooligans (or firms) were a bigger problem back then, I'll admit but that's just looking at one side of the game. Clubs weren't owned by big foreign conglomerates and things were a lot more in house. There's a whole more list of reasons I could go on about but everything was different, fresh and exciting back then compared to todays boring landscape. Football will never be this great ever again, neither will Konami or the games, so tragic... I wish I'd appreciated that early 2000's decade more, perhaps things might of been different if I had... Almost forgot, this track is something I feel that should play in the commencement of the final FIFA World Cup match or the Euro Finals or something. Would produce such a great energy for sure and get the crowd pumped!
When Konami actually made it's own music for games. To be fair up to 2011's soundtrack was absolutely sick. Then after 2014 everything went downhill. 2013 had good music doe.

Best theme ever. Nowadays it's all meh, mellow. This was energy! From the soundtrack to commentators and the crowd. Nowadays, 2 teams in the finals of the Champions league, someone scores and the commentator calmly says, 1-nil. Fking scream! Where is the energy??? It's CL finals, or WC or whatever.... everything became so bland.
