I feel the pain! I've done similar, getting rid of expensive "loves" for a huge loss, but I see it as a gain really. I've experienced and enjoyed the scent for a time, and now I'm recouping a decent proportion of my outlay and letting someone else have the chance to enjoy. Clearing mind and space as well. Decluttering is always hard, but trust me, it gets easier with practice! I decluttered half my collection last year, and it really was eyeopening, in terms of what I truly appreciate with perfume and what kind of scents I am attracted to, but I also had to question my shopping habits. Often I fall in love with a scent, I end the sample in no time, and order a bottle. But when the bottle arrives, it is like I had my time with the scent, and I hardly wear it. Really a bad way of spending my money. Maybe I should try to get bigger decants before I go for the full bottle, but it is something about the esthetics of a bottle vs a plastic decant.
I am going to try and follow what I read someone else does, that is, get a sample, then a travel spray or decant (and I will get a branded travel spray even if more $/ml) and if you finish THAT, then get a bottle.
Same here. I am now wearing a fragrance 3x before deciding on a full bottle. Personally I’m gravitating towards easy to wear fragrances, more unisex offerings as I can’t stay in love with something I’m not wearing all year round.
I think it's better to let go of perfume or anything if it's not worn, we are not eternal so we should wear only what we really love. I had the same problem with Un jardin aur le toit, kept dreaming about it cause it smelled perfect on paper and when I went to buy it I sprayed it on myself and thank God I was with my boyfriend he told me: ''definitely no, this is manly, I could wear that but I don't wanna smell it on you'. Still, all the Jardin range are lovely. I have Jardin de M Li since years, I find it really feminine and refreshing.
I've found that on occasion it can be helpful to keep a decant of a perfume I'm decluttering. I can always refer back to it if I feel regret over letting something go, and that's both comforting and scratches the itch to repurchase. I'm also very selective about doing that as I don't want more decants I don't reach for creating more clutter!

I agree that Alien Essence Absolue has a beautiful dry down, however it takes to long to get there. It is just too loud. And don't feel bad for decluttering any fragrance, if you don't wear it, you probably are not going to miss it.
I recently parted with Bottega Veneta as well. It is such a lovely scent, but it never develops or changes and wears for a long time. I get tired of it by the end of the day. It made me realize that I really enjoy how a fragrance can change through the day or even season to season. I am enjoying Une Amourette by ELdO for a leather fragrance. It definitely has multiple personalities.
Totally relating to this video on all levels! :D I think I'm ok at 27 bottles. It will be difficult to pack in the suit case when I do a big move but I figure I would chuck away all the boxes and bury the glass bottles in my clothes.
Hi Cherie-- i know what you mean about getting your money's worth with big collections. i've been layering bottega veneta under gris dior recently; they work great together! also those older aqua allegorias are magical to me, also; i only have teazurra, but i am fascinated by all the ones from before 2012!

Awww.... Flora nymphea Is my fav aqua allegoria ever...sadly I missed it and have been wanting to get one. And I love the Hermes Les jardins line. I am planning on getting a bunch for this summer. Specially Sur le Nil and Monsieur Li. I really want to try la Lagune one.

It does hurt a little to get rid of fragrances that we like, even if we never wear them! I have Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours, which I absolutely love but it just disappears on me within an hour...not sure if the regular BV acts the same way. It might end up a candidate for decluttering. 😁

Premiere Avenue is very good although it helps to get a few people together so the order is over €250 to get the free shipping. Un jardin sur le toit will always be in my collection. I believe it was my first Hermès. Hopefully it works really well on me 😊
