Like they would know anything from films that came out when they weren't even alive yet. Honestly happy that they know the actors already and get to see his range.
I never get tired of watching reactions to this fantastic movie. I saw it in the theatre when I was 16, and for the next 20 years, no matter what role Anthony Hopkins was playing, I still saw Hannibal Lecter.
Something beautiful about the movie and about Hannibal as a character is the duality. Yes, he’s a killer and a cannibal - but he’s also deeply intuitive, and it’s easy to imagine why he was held to such a high esteem as a psychiatrist. People don’t join that field because they intrinsically hate other human beings. Which is to say; he likes eating people, but he also enjoys helping them. He thrives on it. I think that’s an integral part of why he acts the way he does with Clarisse, when he senses the darkness in her - he misses the power and control he’s granted by pulling his patients from that darkness (or by plunging them into it lol). It may not come from a selfless perspective, but the ends justify the means
That's a fake fact people love put in these comment sections. Counting time he was in the scene but the camera wasn't on him it's closer to 35 minutes.
The Silence of the Lambs is my favorite movie of all time. You guys have to watch Red Dragon (prequel) and Hannibal (sequel) now. They aren't quite as good, but they both have Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.
In the opening "Clarice" is running an obstacle course at the Quantico Marine Corps Base Officers Candidate School. Thus the signs on the tree. The Academy is up the road along side some MCB live fire ranges.
when Hannibal compliments the senator on her suit, he’s implying that you are supposed to be a grieving mother, worried sick about her daughter. but you still made sure to pick out a perfect outfit fir the cameras.
I even looked it up, re: the character. Apparently in the late 90s or early 00s Anthony Hopkins wrote and sold a screenplay about Lecter’s death, but it was never made, from what i understand.
1. The lisping sound Hopkins makes after he says, 'I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." is the first scene he and Foster did together and he wanted to freak her out, so her reaction is real. 2. Ted Levine/Buffalo Bill was so disturbing that he received death threats after this was released. 3. The FBI actually let them use their Quantico facility to film. 4. In the book Crawford did have a "thing" for Clarice. 5. "I'm coming to get you Murdock". The late😇 Charles Napier/Lt. Boyle played Murdock in "Rambo First Blood II". A great first time/share. 6. Everybody is hitting on Clarice but IRL hitting on Foster is a waste of time and effort. She doesn't fly that way. She has been married to a woman since it became legal in Caliphony. 7. In the book Crawford did have "a thing" for Clarice. 8. Dr. Lecter was treating Clarice 9. Others will pass this to you as well but: This movie won ALL 5 of the big Oscars.
There was an actual cooperation between a serial killer and the authorities. The notorious Ted Bundy had offered his help in the case of the "Green River Killer" (Gary Ridgway). Both had been active in the same area and both had done let´s say hideous things with the bodies of their victims. Some of what Bundy told was considered useful, but after some time the authorities had the impression that he was playing for time and ended the cooperation.
10. When Lector made fun of Clarice's accent (he was improvising) Jodie actually felt she was doing a good job of the accent so she was actually upset, which just makes the scene even better. 11. If you are on certain anti psychotic drugs there is a bunch of things you are NOT allowed to consume.... Liver, beans and alcohol is on that list. As Chilton does say "Lector is much too sophisticated for the standard tests"
Did you know that Jam(i)e Gumb / Buffalo Bill was based on a few real-life serial killers, Ed Gein (The Wisconsin Ghoul), Gary Heidnik, Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway (The Green River Killer) to name but a few.
The medical examiner didn't use menthol under his nose because he was probably used to the smell and seasoned m.e.'s can tell a lot about a corpse from the odor.
Great reaction! That character, Hannibal Lecter, scared me more than any other fictional character I have ever heard of. I don’t know how long he was in this movie, but nowhere near as long as it seemed.
I'm thinking that by sniffing the air and naming Clarice's skin cream and perfume after telling her couldn't smell her like Miggs said, Lecter was trying to do Clarice a kindness. Basically he was telling her that with a sense of smell as keen as his, he'd surely have been able to detect it had Miggs been telling the truth, thus alleviating any lingering concerns Clarice might have had in regard to what Miggs said.
Yeah that skin cream has a strong smell so it's not hard for anyone really but shows how strong his memory is. Also like you said if he could smell her privates it would mean she is dirty but Hannibal complimented her by noticing her beauty products.
"Does he blink?" Actually no, anytime Hannibal is on the screen he doesn't blink once Also at the very end in the recommendations it had a recommendation for the Hannibal TV show from like 2014. That show is 🔥🔥🔥
Great movie ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Hope you watch all the movies and the two shows, Hannibal and Clarice (only one season that takes place directly after the first movie).
Remember this was made in early 90’s, book written in the 80’s. Way more uncomfortable experiences being a professional woman “doing men jobs”. Including the military, lots of personal experiences like this.
Another thriller movie I recommend you guys to watch is Blink Twice that stars Channing Tatum. I saw it last night and it was freaking terrifying. It's bizarre but has an interesting concept like Longlegs. Give it a shot when you can!
Ok what does that have to do with reacting to this movie exactly ? Do you think that a man also has full autonomy over what happens to his body or does politics also have an influence over his body as well ?

Winner of 5 Oscars including Best Picture.
It ws the first and only horror thriller film to win in 5 categories.
iconic
It was not just 5 oscars, it was the major ones, film, director, leading actor, leading actress and adapted screenplay.

It funny Trump said, “the late, great, Hannibal Lecter”- his character doesn’t die, like at all
Also he's arguably not a good person. But that shit came out of the same diseased mouth that genuinely suggested the purge.

Masterpiece. Nobody beat that film yet. Watching these kids was funny. They're terrified of Lecter. 🤣
I love that he calls him “the late great Hannibal Lecter” as if he’s real and he tragically passed
